The way I understand it so far is that the record labels get money according to how many times a track from an artist is played. http://www.qtrax.com/

I'm pretty skeptical about it myself.
Hah, apparantly none of the labels have even signed to it yet. They're jumping the gun a bit, aren't they?

Didn't it say that three big record labels had already signed on? Including Universal Records?

They said they had, but in actuality none of the major record labels have signed it yet. They've essentially shot themselves in the foot.
