God, Allah, same thing, just two different words. Nobody should care that much about a word.

In the same sense Hercules and Thor are the same, yes.

God is called JHWE or Jechova.

Not Allah.

Call him just God or Lord and everything is fine.

You're missing the point. Allah is not a name of God. Allah just means God. So in the same way you don't use the word JHWE but instead call your god 'God', you could call him 'Allah' if you were so inclined.

So this isn't Islam taking over the world but instead some nutty Dutch guy playing around with languages in the spirit of world peace.

Patrick Vykkers 08-18-2007 07:07 PM

If he means Allah as in the Arabic name for God, that's fine. BUT, if he means the specific deity worshipped by Islam (as opposed to the deity worshipped by Christianity, who has a Son) then that's just silly. You might as well call the Wiccan God and Goddess the same as Eru Illuvatar.

Nate 08-18-2007 10:14 PM

That did seem quite clear in the article. You might want to practice a little bit of reading-comprehension before going on a rant.

:

Allah is a very beautiful word for God. Shouldn't we all say that from now on we will name God Allah? ... What does God care what we call him?

Why not? I don't see the problem. Hey wouldn't that be fun for a reality show? You know, instead of that Wife Swap thing we could do a god swap show! A bunch of christians will follow the Qur'an for two weeks and a bunch of Muslims will follow the Bible for 2 weeks. It will be absolute great fun and enhance the bonding experience between religions.

Wouldn't be wise to do that just yet. There's still friction between the two.

How the hell are two evangelical religions supposed to make peace? That's like making peace between matter and antimatter.

...in the spirit of world peace.

I'd think trying something as controversial as effectively changing God's name would have quite the opposite effect.

In my own way, I think all religions are somewhat stupid: they have no true base that we can be 100% certain of, or maybe not even 50%. Seriously. The bible could have come from almost anywhere...and it is so very convenient that even the 'main' religion of christianity has such frail roots it's standing on.

Even if he did manage to change God's name or whatever, I doubt anyone would change.

Also, you'd need to rewrite the whole bible, and replace every mention of 'God' or 'Lord' with Allah. Which ain't happening.

The pope would personaly blow up the Vatican before gods name is ever changed. But that would be fun too.
Some day... some day I will come up with a plan to rid the world of religion... starting with christianity. At the age of 54 I'm going to hear I have terminal cancer with a mere 5 years to live... Church fires will suddenly skyrocket in those 5 years I promise you all. And then, after having set fire to a good few dozen landmark churches around the world, I will single handedly blow up the Vatican.

Alcar, make a copy of this post. They will be asking for it in 30 years :p

*Some anti-religious bull*

Nah. No offense or anything, but you would have actually grown out of your athiest stage by age 54 and learn to tolerate. And if you have to pick on religions/cults, go for scientology. Atleast they're not original.

They could poke each other.

They'd both be annihlated, but it'd be peaceful.

Thank you. I feel like the only sane person sometimes when it comes to the 3 major religions that worship one god. This meaning Jews, Muslims, and Christians. The name has no relevance whatsoever it's just translation. Also for god's sake (pun intended) even the religion of Islam recognizes Jesus Christ as one of God (Allah's) most beloved prophets.

This is the problem with religion, one side will always believe they are right. In my opinion it's impossible for me to discount possibilities, especially since I am only human. There is only so much our minds can truly comprehend about the way things work, so why waste so much time when either in the end there is more or there is nothing and we will cease to exist anyways. sigh.

Really? I did not know this... :fuzconf:

Nate 08-25-2007 05:39 PM

That's because you're ignorant.

Oh, yes. It's a commonly known fact. Islam takes all the Judeo-Christian prophets and adds Mohammed to the list as the last, greatest prophet. Then the Bahá'Ă* took that list and added Bahá'u'lláh to the end.

Sorry to interrupt the PC lovefest but..
Allah= Impersonal being with no son (Qur'an 23:91) who deceives people (Qur'an 8:30, 10:21) and ordains pedophilia (Muhammad is described as a moral role model and married a 6 year old per http://www.harunyahya.com/articles/o..._to_sunnah.php, Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3310: Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64, Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 65, Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88 )
God= Never explicitly described as not having a son outside of post Christian Jewish tradition. In Christianity, has a son (John 3:16, many others), is OPPOSED to a being of deception (John 8:44) and is personal (very obvious from John 3:16 and virtually all of Christianity). Says that to corrupt a child is worse than suicide (Luke 17:2).

Havoc 08-26-2007 04:11 AM

Did you open a Qur'an to get all those page numbers or...

Patrick Vykkers 08-26-2007 03:31 PM

That's Hadith, not Qur'an, in the cases of books. Look them up, you'll find they say it.
