You guys are so OWF.

The Host, anyone?

Ha-ha, that was very weird. And now I know more about these fish...they're not dangerous...phew.

This is the deadliest thing in the ocean, killing over 400,000 people a year:

I did Snuzi. I know alot about animals, including fish, even the underwater ones. AND I wouldnt call someone whos ugly a mutant. and back on topic, I accutaly like spiders, but if one comes near me I freak out. Dont really know why

Then why, if you apparently know so much about marine life, would you call deep sea fish mutants? :p

different from what?

calling them mutants may offend them.. right snuzi

I didn't mean it that way, ya goose. I meant that just because something is "different" doesn't make it a "mutant", technically speaking. For something to be a mutant, it's DNA would have to be quite different from the DNA of the rest of its species.

Bullet Magnet 05-16-2007 11:54 AM

It would need only one change to it's genetic code not inherited from either parent to be a mutant. Going by pure probability of a mutation arising and the amount of DNA, every single organism has several brand new mutations, it's just a matter of whether they are expressible or not..

Cause I can. Man, Bullet, you make me sound like a little kid, how the hell do you remember all that??? Anyway, though the fish probably wouldnt attack me, I would still freak, as they are evil looking, with all those teeth.

Oh c'mon! It's a thread about sea "mutants." A Cthulhu reference is obligatory.

skillyaslig 05-16-2007 11:50 PM

Hoho, wouldnt want that coming up the toilet.

Zozo the Zrilufet 05-17-2007 05:07 AM

...I don't get it with the picture of the sea, unless it means drowning....:PHmm, nice fish.

Zerox 05-17-2007 12:43 PM

If anyone GENUINELY thought these were mutants, then you deserve to be beaten. You neevr saw Blue Planet OR Planet Earth? Shame on you.

Coffin fish? Looks more like a Bat fish to me. Never heard the Coffin fish name...

Dangerous? Pah, they die when they get brought too high up because there's not enough pressure (usually, anyway) and they're generally pretty small, too.

Bullet Magnet 05-17-2007 02:22 PM

We're lucky they're this intact- deep sea fish have a habit of exploding if you bring them up too quickly.

Please ignore this post. Trying to get that stupid hyperlink thing to work. Can't seem to find this "little icon of an earth with a chain in front off it."
Meh
