It would need only one change to it's genetic code not inherited from either parent to be a mutant. Going by pure probability of a mutation arising and the amount of DNA, every single organism has several brand new mutations, it's just a matter of whether they are expressible or not..

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...d_R%27lyeh.jpg ... Oh c'mon! It's a thread about sea "mutants." A Cthulhu reference is obligatory. |
Hoho, wouldnt want that coming up the toilet.
|
...I don't get it with the picture of the sea, unless it means drowning....:PHmm, nice fish.

If anyone GENUINELY thought these were mutants, then you deserve to be beaten. You neevr saw Blue Planet OR Planet Earth? Shame on you.
Coffin fish? Looks more like a Bat fish to me. Never heard the Coffin fish name... Dangerous? Pah, they die when they get brought too high up because there's not enough pressure (usually, anyway) and they're generally pretty small, too. |
We're lucky they're this intact- deep sea fish have a habit of exploding if you bring them up too quickly.

Please ignore this post. Trying to get that stupid hyperlink thing to work. Can't seem to find this "little icon of an earth with a chain in front off it."
