That's horrible. It's horrible that something like that happened. I hope it doesn't happen again for you. I would hate it if that happened in my school. I would be terrified. I feel so sorry for you.

Jesus! What's with all the gun threats, bomb threats, killings, drug dealings (the list goes on...) there!? Just a few days ago some guy broke into my old elementary school and left some kind of powder (not identified as drugs or anything else) and a few bloodstains. WTF!!!??? I think they even called the police for THAT. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's about how I understood it when 12345abe told me. They get worried about some stupid powder and a few bloodstains. Maybe guy was sleepwalking and crumbled something in his pocket which then fell out and maybe accidentally sliced himself on a paper or something getting a cut. It's dull here... I wish someone would warn the school about the bomb and the cops for some reason wouldn't show up so the whole friggen school would be blown to bits.(just like my teachers' [plural]brains) I hate school... |

Actually, the VT thing didn't really have that much of an effect here. I think only me an my friends know about it.
My teachers' brains have already exploded And I think I should've stated to evacuate everyone, but I didn't feel like it. |

I feel that this website has stolen away 5 years of my life, years that could have been full of adventure and sexual richness. I have no other option but to scrawl a dick joke and a bomb threat on a bathroom stall and hope that it delays tomorrow's finals.

If there was SUPPOSENLY a gun fanatic on the loose, then why the hell let all the children inside? Bunch of n00bs. Somebody could of been killed.
|
Well, first of all, they weren't sure. And second of all, they couldn't just tell everyone that there was a gun-wielding lunatic on the loose. It'd cause more harm than good.
|
They could of made something up, like a clown has a gun or something??
|
Yeah, okay. That'll definitely help matters.

To MF:
"Political correctness (often abbreviated to PC) is a term used to describe language or behavior which is intended, or said to be intended, to provide a minimum of offense, particularly to racial, cultural, or other identity groups. A text that conforms to the ideals of political correctness is said to be politically correct." Taken from Wiki. A better example that doesn't involve the Religion of Peace would be the term BCE, or Before Common Era. It is an "alternative" to the traditional term BC used to denote dates before the approximate birth of Christ. It is designed to not offend thin skinned non-Christians who object to referring to dates around the Christian God. Now, I'm fine with that, but the ridiculous part comes when they are not changing the starting point and still basing the system around the approximate birth of Christ. That is like calling a dog a dingo in order to avoid canidocentricism, or a Christian a Jew to avoid theocentrism. It is dishonest to label that which is Christian as non Christian. Also, I do not think the tail should wag the dog, and in this case it is an extremely small group of offended people demanding society change it's major dating systems to please them. Before you respond that is the same argument made against gay marriage, remember that while marriage IS a changing institution (polygamy, divorce, age of marriage, conditions for marriage, interracial marriage) the approximate birth and death of a real person (be it that you consider him YHVH or not) is not. I think language should remain practical, honest, and wieldy, and not pander to the interests of tiny, vocal groups, be they Christian fundies, Muslims, black people, white people, gay people, straight people, or atheist xylophone clowns who have sex in automobiles. So a mankind, hymn, BC, AD, negro, and Mohammedan to you. And as I stated, I am like Stattik (without the bloggish posts) because I share political views that are as extreme as his, only they are to the right., whereas his are to the left. Both he and I can sometimes be long winded, preachy, and self righteous in expoundign our political views, but I tend to provide more references, whereas he tends to provide personal experience, which is understandable, given he has been a man for 2 years (judging by the fact he is 20) and I have not. Anyway, back on topic; This gun threat makes me think that maybe this (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1033/1033_01.asp) Jackkk Chickkk tract might of had a point. Weird cycle though. Teens (Columbine), adults (Virginia Tech), kids (this, although no one was hurt). |
Hehe that reminds me of that joke from Pursuit of Happiness.
Where tha guy is drowning in the ocean and a boat comes up to him, the guy in the boat tries to save him, but the drowning man says, "No thanks God will save me." Another boat comes by and tries to save him, the drowning man says, "No thanks God will save me." The man drowns and goes to heaven, he asks God, "Why didn't you save me lord?" God replies, "I sent you two boats dummy!" |
PV: I've never seen anyone advocate changing the common usage terms to CE and BCE; I've only ever seen them used in a by-Jew for-Jew context. Either way, the terms are used to reflect the way western society uses dates (thus Common Era and Before Common Era) so using some other calendar would be pointless and uncommunicative.
And as for your point about birthdates being a fixed point in time; it's widely accepted that Jesus was born in approximately the years 4 to 8 BC so it's a fairly arbitrary counting system anyway. |
