I didn't mean to insult you, mitsur, I was just saying that that's what online games usually do to people, and what category the people who play these games usually fall under. The addiction changes them, as most addictions do.

I don't have a problem with WoW. I just have a problem with self righteous people who actualy think they have made a difference in someone's life when they have never even met them. That "I helped people" line was moronic. You haven't helped shit. You have just convinced yourself that you have so you can feel better about yourself.

To each their own. I used to care about friends playing it simply because I've seen MMORPG's ruin relations between people and change them hardcore. I would warn and be like don't get all into it but that's your choice man. Have fun!

Well, since I'm still living with my parents for obvious reasons, and I care about getting a decent night's sleep, I'm not really the kind of person who will spend all night trying to finish that elusive quest. Sure, I'm addicted, but not like that kind of addiction.

But overall in this thread, I agree the most with Snuzi. Some people get so obsessed with WoW that they get the point where they have no life. Plus, it's a dumb game IMO, and you have to play forever to level up so the game actually starts getting fun. I only like the games where skill is the primary factor to how well you do in the game, not how long you sit on your ass leveling up. It's sad that the game is like a second life, and you have to manage it so much, and it makes you think you're interacting with people and making friends.

Precisely. You spend more time leveling up in these types of games than actually playing them. It's basically like this: You start off with a weak character, and all you think is "Oh man, as soon as I get to level 20, I'll be able to unlock all this cool shit! Who knows what abilities will become available to me?". Then, when you reach that level, you say "Man, this was freaking awesome, but as soon as I reach level 30, I'll unlock this and that, and become even more powerful!". This process becomes repetative, and you end up spending nearly all of your time leveling up, and wondering what the next level will get you. It's pointless. No matter what, you'll never be at a level at which your content. there will always be a distant level that you'll want to achieve.

So, basically, you're never content when playing this game. There's always something better just beyond your reach, causing you to spend hours and hours of your life pointlessly, in order to make you believe that something might just be reachable.

That kind of boring crap is why I hate the middle part of RPGS. And partially why I quit Runescape.

Oh yes, I have so many things to like about myself, what with my clinical depression and my inability to uphold a friendship for more than two years.
Oh, and lets not forget the fact that I've never had a real love life and that I probably never will! Add that to the issues I've had with family and friends dying/killing themselves, and it's a wonder why I haven't placed myself up at the "Right hand of God" title.

Anyway, IMHO WoW gets really boring after lvl 20. I've never made it very far in the game.

I play Second Life occasionally, I found this place with Trekkie nerds, so I annoy them by nitpicking their starships.....Fun.

I've played WoW - I had a level 60, raided for about a year till the expansion came out, then got level 63, quitted.

It's true what everyone says about it - it's addicting and not fun. You end up playing it for the sake of playing it. By all means, if you want to get it, get it, but be warned - I would much prefer playing Oblivion over WoW. Which I've been doing a lot recently.

I've always thought that online games were made to try and make gaming... not fun. Trying to put people off video games. No online game is as good as a console game (which I would consider a real game). I'm just stating my opinion, that's all.

I can see where you're coming from Oddjob, but a lot of people would probably disagree with you.
