I knew you were being sarcastic, I forgot to mention it! :D

Arxryl 12-18-2006 02:37 PM

I hate when people make fun of something you like because it is dorky or somewhat nerdy.

snuzi 12-18-2006 02:57 PM

As do I. People need to learn to shut up. Just because they don't like something you do, doesn't give them the right to ridicule you about it.

Rex Tirano 12-18-2006 03:20 PM

:

There was a girl at my school who was obsessed with some book she would go to the computer room during lunchtime and copy/paste fanfics about her heroes....she was REALLY sad.

:

Man, that is pathetic. Why won't people just create their own original stories instead of ripping off someone else's? I just don't understand it.

Yeah, totally not hypocritical.

- Rexy

snuzi 12-18-2006 03:23 PM

How so exactly? Did I ridicule the person? I don't think so.

Rex Tirano 12-18-2006 04:43 PM

You said she was pathetic for doing what she obviously enjoys doing. I'd call that ridicule.

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean that it's bad.

- Rexy

snuzi 12-18-2006 05:05 PM

I didn't say she was pathetic. I said that what she was doing was pathetic. And what I meant by pathetic was that I pitied the fact that she had to cling to fan fictions because she was so obsessed with that book. I was not insulting this person in any way, shape, or form, nor did I think what she was doing was bad. I merely thought that it was unhealthy.

Arxryl 12-18-2006 05:50 PM

I understand where you are coming form Snuzi, but I also understand what Rex is trying to say.
Rex means that if they wish to do something they enjoy, something that isn't causing harm to others in the process, then they have a right to do so and it may be viewed as pathetic, but it really isn't. Her going and copying the stories she enjoys is the exact same thing as me obsessing with my avatars and signatures.
I see where you are coming from as well though. You see her doing this and it seems so obsessive and un-needed to you. It seems like she lives in that world she so adores and nothing else seems to matter.
But, the reason she may be obsessing aobut this thing is her own reason, but the truth is that they are probably obsessive themselves, just like I am...(woah. over-usage of the word obsessive in one paragraph...:()
Well, I'm sure I didn't help with that debate at all but I just wanted to post my thoughts. [/thoughtsharing and ranting]

Something that ticks me off is narrow-minded people. (not relating to the above argument at all...) When they think their way is the end-all-be-all and everyone needs to think like them. Yeah... like some teachers and some class-mates.

Slaveless 12-18-2006 05:50 PM

So, are we sad that we make RPG forums and Fan Corners in OWF because we feel like that the ideas of Oddworld are interesting to us, that we feel as if we can stretch our imagination to make characters that relate to that world?

Arxryl 12-18-2006 05:52 PM

I'm not sure I'd say sad, but definitely longing, or sometimes bored...(oh yes, just sometimes...)

Actually, you did help with that debate. You got my point across, and you understood what i was trying to say in the first place. Thanks, Arxryl :)

The only thing that annoys me is that I have to be overly-specific on here, like some person with OCD. I suppose that I should choose my words even more carefully, to better argue my point.

Not at all. I enjoy the artwork and works of literature in the Fan Corner very much. As long as your behavior doesn't become obsessive, it's fine, in my opinion. Once it crosses that line, then it's sad.

Statikk HDM 12-19-2006 12:54 AM

You know what I hate? When its really cold out, just cold enough for you and every other guy to nip but just a little too cold so all the ladies wear really thick shirts and jackets and you don't see them nip. That's a B, right there, I tell you what.

Rex Tirano 12-19-2006 12:31 PM

Haha Snuzi I understood your point [once you explained it] I was just pointing out what I saw as hypocritical behaviour.

That's pretty interesting [I'm very close to making a new thread because this is very offtopic ^_^;;], so even if you bitch about Fanfiction.net not having any "inspiration" or "originality", you could say the same thing about the OWF FC because people use the OW story?

- Rexy

Hobo 12-19-2006 01:00 PM

My bitch:

Fan Corner and RPG are pointless wastes of time.

And i'm allowed to say that, i used to mod one of them

If we didn't reproduce we'd be extinct.

So what's the catch of not reproducing? You listed one of the benefits.

Sactly why I made this thread. I was hoping it would lead to a surge of new productive topics.

On the Fanfic note, I don't mind deritive work as long as it's good. Wicked for example was an amazing book and was based almost entirely on L. Frank Baums' original work. Of course, I can see a fine line between fanfiction and derivative work. Fanfiction seems like the writer's happy candy made when they're over-excited about another work where as derivative work
is simply derivative work. None of the unrealistic or childish gaga bullshit you find in fanfiction.

Arxryl 12-19-2006 02:59 PM

Something that ticks m off is when someone has no thoughts about personal space. they walk up to you, inches from your face (or centimeters, depending where you're from) and wonder why you get upset when they are breathing on you...

snuzi 12-19-2006 03:03 PM

Goddamn it, that bothers the crap out of me! I don't understand why people feel that they must stay uncomfortably close to me all the time. It really annoys the hell out of me. I also hate it when people touch me, escpecially people I do not know. It angers me.

Mutual Friend 12-19-2006 03:37 PM

Corruption of power.

For instance, if a thread was closed, only to be re-opened for another moderator who wanted to get in the last word.

And homophobia! Hah. Sneak that one in. Was reading another forum (I read it, no posting) about films and one thread had the most ridiculous American nonsense (you know its American when they start mentioning 'freedom'). Unfathomable and wholly ridiculous.

Statikk HDM 12-19-2006 04:49 PM

I have 1 cat and 4 kittens under my bed right now. Sometimes in the night I can hear them mewling and nursing and Dickens will jump right on the bed and start clawing/kneeding my chest. It was pretty damn annoying during finals.

Strike Witch 12-20-2006 12:53 AM

I hate it when people give me shit cause I'm Bi. At school, anyway.... Wankers wouldn't know tolerance if it kicked them in the arse.

We could also put in the effort to reproduce even more, which would lead to much the same effect.

I so agree with you! It's just like when someone defames you then sends PMs to all the mods to get a thread closed before you can defend yourself. Or when he then goes on about how you've abused your power when you actually don't have any in that forum.

I suppose I could sum my opinion up by saying what really pisses me off is people who prefer to spend their lives with their brains switched off.

snuzi 12-20-2006 10:30 AM

Wiggers annoy me to no end. I can't stand hearing them talk. The way they try to act "ghetto" really infuriates me.

The again, all "ghetto" people annoy me.

OANST 12-20-2006 04:17 PM

You're a racist.

You're a racist.

I don't know, but he may be referring to those who think they are "gangsta" wether they are darker skinned or not.
Or he could just be racist... ;)

Something that ticks me off is being clumsy. I end up hurting those around me and then hurting myself even more and I can't stop it.
And the worst part about it is that I break things... :(

Yes, I meant people who act "gangsta". Their skin tone matters not. If they act that way, I despise them equally :p.

Jordan 12-21-2006 05:21 AM

I hate it when people keep saying: "You know what I'm saying?" After every statement they make, it is so chavvy! And I hate the chavs who hang on street corners and yob the place up!

Rich 12-21-2006 05:31 AM

I hate it when people keep saying: "You know what I'm saying?"

Haha, I tend to do that when I'm drunk, although its usually "Y'know what I mean?"

Jordan 12-21-2006 05:33 AM

Well, if you only do it when you're drunk it's not as bad, but I hate it when people do it for no apparent reason, I just feel like saying: "Yeah, I KNOW what you're saying now shut the f*** up!

Munch's Master 12-21-2006 10:25 AM

God I too hate 'gangstas'. However I love it when people petend to act gangsta to basically skit the whoel gangster style. My school has some real wannabe gangsters, and other mockery gangsters.

Well if you hate that, you'll love this video, especially the first 2 minutes of it:

Arxryl 12-21-2006 11:47 AM

Blizzards... I hate them. I spent all morning until now shoveling walks and although I wasn't cold, it still sucks to get a shovel full of snow in your shoes...
Oh yes, and when your shovel breaks, that also sucks.

Slaveless 12-21-2006 12:50 PM

At least you have snow. It's just cold here. Just really, people are complaining a lot of the time, no snow cold.

That video was quite funny MM. I love the part when the reporter proves that the rapper has no idea what he is talking about.

It kind of bugs me whenever my dream start to freak out on me. They become ubsurd and make no sense at all in the real world. Like the time when I was captured by pixies and start to make cemorial events. Dancing and singing. It was a little too scary for my liking.

Man, that video is awful... Eminem is so annoying, you know what I'm sayin? :p

snuzi 12-23-2006 08:23 AM

I despise waiting hours to reach a destination. Especially when I have no music to listen to. It's enough to drive me insane.

Jordan 12-23-2006 09:37 AM

Lemme guess, you're talking about ya holiday? It's even worse for me, the stupid dog is jumping about, she's a big lug, and I feel that smelly hot breath on my face when she pants, I hate it!

snuzi 12-23-2006 09:52 AM

:

()
Lemme guess, you're talking about ya holiday?

Actually, no. On my way here, I had music to listen, and I slept through most of the trip. I'm talking about any other occassion that involves a remarkably long wait :p.

Slaveless 12-23-2006 01:32 PM

Reminds me of the over 20 hour drives I have to make to get to another place in my country. We don't take a plane. Too much money.

Leto 12-23-2006 02:53 PM

I'm going to rant, so feel free to skip this message.

What is it with that certain breed of women being so godamn selfish? I'm not denying the men, but it's the women I'm talking about at the moment. Whenever there's a problem it's gotta revolve around them, and when something doesn't go in their favour they guilt-trip you to hell with sentiments like "Oh I'm such a selfish bitch aren't I?" and all you can do is lie and say no. The only ones I found to be as selfish and bitchy are homosexuals, so you can never ****ing win.

Man people suck.

skillya_glowi 12-23-2006 03:15 PM

I fucking hate it when I do something, and then it comes out wrong somehow, and then someone says, "What you SHOULD have done was...." God I hate that. OK, I should have done that. But I didn't, so why the fuck are you telling me now?
