First of all, nice sig Glokstar, second, pack it in with the spam!
Abe sort of has a 'snout' above his mouth, it's like a lump thing, perhaps this is his nose, and he might have tiny nostrils on it or none at all. |
YEah...
I just think it's through the mouth...like many have stated...makes the most sense |
agreed, stay on topic and stop spamming
personal or not intresting to the whole public questions can be asked via PM |
I wish Alf would explain everything in a nice, thorough manner. It will of course never happen :D
|
Perhaps if someone found an image of a mudokon skeleton, we could settle this once and for all.
|
:
Oh and...Xavier? Any Mud skeleton pics? |
I hope there's at least one out there. I've searched all over for one, but found nothing, unfortunately.
|
How about that one in the intro of AE? That one where the Mudokon is crouched up, does that show anything?
|
Eh, not really, since it's only showing the Mudokon from the side. Plus, it isn't very detailed.
|
You don't need a nose to breath. I was unable to breath through my nose till I was nine years old (I had an operation to cure this problem). I managed to stay alive for nine years, even if I couldn't smell anything.
So I'm guessing he breaths through his mouth. |
Well, actually, we're trying to figure out if mudokons can smell now. And if so, using what? :p
|
Mudokons do have nostrils. I saw them on one of the Mudokon's skull, which are right above their eyes. These can be seen in the copyright images of AE, right before the game begins. Didn't you see the skeletons?
|
Actually, no, I haven't. Could you maybe show me a screencap or something of it?
|
They're right above the eyes? That is definately strange, I wonder how they sniff, they'd probably do what we do to raise our eye brows, weird! '.'
|
If the mudokons have their nostrils above their eyes, then their skulls must be similar to the ratz. It's still odd that their nostrils aren't visible at all.
|
Perhaps skin covers them and when they are used for smelling they open up, a bit like how fish gills work, sort of...
|
I doubt it, since we would have probably noticed that somewhere along the line.
|
I guess it's one of the mysteries of Oddworld, and it probably won't be that important in future, unless OWI show how Abe breaths in a future movie/game.
|
Yeah, seriously. I doubt we'll find anything out anytime soon.
|
there are mudokon skeletons in the art of book, I'm not sure some were released on the net, If I have one, then it's on TOGG
|
I should be able to have a look at those Mudokon skeletons, I'm getting the Art book for christmas, finally!
|
Lucky. I want that book so badly, and if I had it, it'd make topics like this easier to contribute to.
|
I just too a look and I can confirm his skull has no extra holes for something that could be a nose.
|
Here is a skeleton i have from a "secret" place :p. Its not very informing but its the best so far.
There are no holes on the skull for this one either. |
Hey! I want to see that DVD so much, you could have put a spoiler message above the picture! >.<

Zombies would be so funny! Ah, I'm tempted to spam coz I've just been random spamming Lord Vulcher's forum, it felt so good to do that!
My name is I_Hate_Creator on the site! Lolness! |
They were to be called Mudombies; dead Mudokon spirits angry about disturbance of their resting place; in other words, crawling, idiot Mudokons.
Checked Art book, page 41. Look closely at the side and front Abe skeletons.between the eye sockets, slightly above them, are two little 'dents' or holes. Could these be possible nostril areas, particularly when thinking of closeness to birds and where nostrils would have been on beak (especially note how the skeleton featured was an updated version, particularly when looking at the hands with only 2 fingers and a thumb, rather than the original 3 fingers) |

Don't worry, just try to put spoiler messages above the thing, okay dude?
|
They don't have holes. They're slits above the Mudokons skull. Besides, Mudokons don't have noses for sure. They have nostrils. If you looked above Abe's eyes on the front of AO and AE disks, there are little slits. These might be something that might point out to nostrils. Not something huge, but still.

Um, a message about spoiling the plot or ending of something?
i.e. The contents of the bonus DVD? |
That doesn't count as a spoiler really. The contents of the DVD (and everything else we know regarding OWI atm) are considered General Discussion these days.
|
Well im sorry. I actually thought you would be happy to know that pic is from the*edit* "secret place". I would have been happy to know... But dont worry there are planty of things on that *edit* "secret place" that you dont know about and i have not spoiled it for u.
On other forums they have never asked me to write spoiler messages on such things, but then im not on many forums. I only care about OW. So now that i know, next time ill try to pay attention. P.S. And ill edit that post for u if u want, so thet it is not spoiled for others :) |
Lol, Glokstar, just drop it, I was being a muppet, don't listen to me! :D
It's just... I get touchy about not having the DVD, but now I'm happy to have seen that zombie lol, I'm sorry! :) |
Haha, whats funny is that i dont have the damn thing either, on ly the vob files that are incomplete. So the thing video content jumps around randomly. Its quite annoying. I gave up on having it... the only seeder desappeared :S
Anyway, sorry for spamming. Back to respiratory issues. :p |
Been having a good look at this image.
http://www.vgmuseum.com/scans/psx/od...ysee_front.jpg Really can't see anything...but I was just thinking...some amphibians breath through their skin, at least partially, right? So is it possible Mudokons have evolved to be able to breath like this? |
The link's broken, do you think you could fix it? Thankyou :)
