I don't want to be a party pooper but it seems a little silly to me to be designing these creatures before the game (and thus the creature editor) is finalised. Also coming up with personalities when you have no idea how the game is going to analyse creature constructs and come up with their personalities.

I mean, I have no problem with you coming up with your own creatures and all, but it's a fairly loose link to Spore.
The amount of exposure this game has had makes Munch's Oddysee sound like a surprise release. Those following know quite alot, but it does have a fair helping of artistic liscense.

The Heartless from Kingdom Hearts.
Nobodies from Kingdom Hearts.
the Kraken from pirates of the caribbean 2.
Mudokons.
Scrabs.
Paramites....
and without a doubt, furries. or anthropamorphic beings.

Billy-bumblers, from the dark tower series, because Oy is soooo lovable. Dragons, as well (the ones from the Eragon series).

I'll throw in Precursors from the Jak and Daxter series, too, with Combines from HL2. Oh yeah, and don't forget the Hunters from Halo, just 'cause they're so badass looking.
