true. and why would they make the wii-mote games able to be controlled with analog? some games just wouldn't be able to do that, namely Wii sports among others
|
In my opinion, Sony's taking everything the 360 done and is making it better. So you can't give them much praise by 'borrowing' other technology from Nintendo and Microsoft.
The Blu-Ray is different though, I'm not paying 60/70 dollars for a game. It pisses me off to see Playstation fanboys "OMFG!!!!1, PS3 PWNS XBX360!!!" Like someone said (in the previous page) there is no best console, so don't get ahead of yourself, when it's released...it's gonna be a big Ps2...that's it! 360 was hyped, and now it isn't....jesus, calm down! BTW, Ps3 is worthy for FF7 remake and Devil May Cry 4, 360 for Halo 3 and Gears of War, 'nuff said. |

i don't know how fun the Wii games will be, but the controls seem new and fun. It's dumb how the ps3 will cost so much.
|
to be hornest no matter how good the ps3's graphics are supposed to be i'd much rather have a wii for less than £200 than a ps3 around the £500 marker.
|
the ps3 will be so much beter than the wii
1) the wii's controller sucks! 2)the only decent games nintendo consoles have are super mario 3)when has nintendo ever made a console that isnt outdone by sony after 1995? 4)graphics, speed everything about it will be so much better apart from the price |
Munchman, don't insult other consoles just because you don't like them.
I can live with the price of the PS3, and perhaps it'll go down after a while. But I think it's worth it, because these modern systems are starting to work a lot like the computer your using right now. Talk about storing images, playing DVDs, going "online" as they say in E3 demonstrations. But that's just show-off, not stuff you actually need. Nintendo has made a lot of great games in the past. Before Sony and Microsoft began dominating the market with their new games, everyone I knew was stuck with the N64 and was romotely happy about it. |
Munchman, stop talking out yer a*s.
Personally, I wouldn't go near the Xbox 360. The other 2 have had over an extra year of hard work and effort put into them. The Xbox just seems like a cash in to sell to everyone before the others come out. Xbox is newer on the market and the others tend to sport the better gaming series anyway. I like the Wii because it is so innitiative and original. I wouldn't say that graphics are everything. It should also be MUCH cheaper than PS3 (what a goddamn rip off that is). I'm also dissapointed with Sony for stealing the control system. So, Nintendo attempts to keep Wii underwraps for a while, and then unveils how the controller works. Not soon afterwards, Sony announmces that their controller is not just wireless, but can sense 8 different movements. What a rip-off. Lazy arses. Isn't as effective as Wii anyway. AND with far more buttons on it, that may be just a tad too many controls for people to try and get to grips with. Wii is more open and simple, and was deliberately designed for as many people to use it as possible. Also, I strongly disagree with everyone saying Nintendo games a 'kiddy'. I just don't think that violence makes a videogame good. May be fun sometimes, but it's not everything. It doesn't alone make a videogame good, but people are still obsessed with it. Many videogame series are moving to the Wii completely, if not just releasing unique games for it. Plus, it will work on even the oldest televisions just fine. |
i guess i'm out numbered in my opinion. well fair enough you like what you like i like what i like.
|
The PS3's controller has no more buttons than the PS1's controller.
Maybe you, Zerox, can't cope with as many controls as I can, but it's perfectly fine by me. What do you mean "can sense eight different movements"? |
you can move the controller left right up down etc on the new controller to help with game slike flying ones spirrow
|
Ah, yes, it's a rounded directional pad allowing you to move the
character in a game diagonally easier than the previous controllers. Again, just show-off. |
I already pre-ordered the wii, It's gonna rock. and the Web Browser on it will rock the house. Hopefully it's faster than the DS's browser, but it should, cuz it will probably be able to update the browser, unlike the DS's
|
I hope they make a gundam game for Wii with a beam rifle controller =D that would give me fanboy wood that would drill holes in titanium... anyway yeah I think I'll go with Wii or xbox 360, PS3 is going to be more expensive than I thought it would be, plus Blu-ray is going to fail and it will become just like the Betamax mark my words.. oooo
|
Shell out a few hundred dosh and you're there. I'm not all for that techno crap. Who needs all that crammed in a console anyway, if you ask me...you're just whoring out the whole system.

Eh, color me distinctly unimpressed by the Wii thing. It looks like a lame gimmick to me. The best controllers were, in order
Playstation/PS2 Sega Genesis XBOX Duckhunt Time Crisis This one makes pine for the N64. Sure, its original, but sometimes the tried and true is the best. Just so everybody doesn't think I'm a crank who exists only to chug haterade, I think the PS3 is going to be awesome and I like the XBOX 360. |
The Wii may seem a bit out of context, but it certainly will be more innovative than the other two consoles. What's good with the Wii is we are finally seeing the classic series' like Mario and Zelda being taken to an extraordinary level. Sure the controller may be whack, but it's innovative.
The PS3 just basically seems like the PS2 only about 20% nicer. |
Its just innovation for the sake of innovation, just like those proprietary discs they had. How did those go over again? Oh yeah, they were widely mocked and hated.
My thinking is if it ain't broke why fix it? The handheld controller has been used for nearly 2 decades with great success. I don't want to have to learn a whole new system to play it. And could the name be any more idiotic? It sounds like a friggin' sybian controller for crying out loud. Wee! Way to damn yourself to irrelevancy when the PS3 launches with further goofy hardware, Nintendo. This will go over like a turd in a punchbowl in America. |
People said exactly the same thing about the DS' touch screen. And what happened? There are now loads of kick-arse games that could not have been created for any other console. And developers are only just scratching the surface of the possibilities.
EDIT: Oh, and this. It's not just innovation for the sake of innovation. It's noticing that the games industry is groaning under the weight of its own stagnation. Name five truly original games that have come out in the last year. I don't think you can. Now try this again in another year and I guarantee that at least four of the five will have been on the Wii. |
The touch screen, in my experience and the experience of others, has been a nuisance and I'd wager that the touch and split screens have hurt as many games as they have helped.
What's Nintendo's flagship game going to be? Something totally original, right? Nope, its a game in the Rayman franchise, a platformer that came out over a decade ago. And some games with Nintendo stalwarts like Mario, Samus, Link, and D.K. and the gang. How the bloody hell is that original? Nintendo has been putting out retreads of games well over 10 years old ever since the N64. Boring. |
red steel and many others are new. And to be fair i'd much rather play non original games on the new wii controler than on the same old ps3 controller with there non original games.
|
Bah. Today I read in the newspaper that Blu-ray is gonna be the standard in recording. So the PS3 has a stonger position now...

well, the DS did outsell the PSP, twice, in Japan. Both the DS and the DS lite outsold the PSP...and Nintendo has sold more DS' worldwide than the PSP.
Wii is gonna rock, it has the web browser, the free online gaming. oh, and if you guys didn't know, that weird thing on front, by the DVD slot, is where you put the SD card. |
what's an sd card?
|
SD cards are like little storage cards. Like a Flash USB stick. SD cards can be put in various apparatuses, like digital cameras, printers, and so on.
Anyways, Blu Ray is probably also gonna be used for Films, replacing the DVD. They can be filled with the film, along with commentaries, and different angles in a film. |
ooh, and since there is a USB port, you can hook up external hardrives, and those get pretty big
|
Abeguy, the PSP has two million less sales than the DS(about 22 to 20 million), hardly crushing figures considering that it has a more international presence and it is preferred over the DS in America.
I want to talk consoles, not hand held gaming. Lets look at some console war figures from a heavily footmarked and referenced Wikipedia article, shall we? Playstation vs. Nintendo 64: 102 million vs 32 million shipped. The Nintendo 64 did not dominate, or even compete in the Japanese market, it got outsold by a ratio of nearly 5-1 by the Playstation, 2-1 in America, and nearly 7-1 in Europe and other areas. The PS2 outsold the Gamecube by over 5-1 and the Gamecube only has 10 million sales more than the Dreamcast, a failed system that has not been produced for nearly 2 years. I can't people have the balls to say that PS3 will bomb, after its been kicking Nintendo's ass at its own game for well over 10 years. I'd bet good money that the PS3 will outsell the Revolution by at least 2-1. |
now now Statikk, it's called the wii, get used to it.
and as long as were talking Console stats, the GameCube is outselling the Xbox 360 in Japan. The reason Sony has out done Nintendo all this time is because, out of similar gameplay (hold controller with 2 hands, press buttons) it had better ways to push those buttons. Since the Wii has drastically different gameplay, it's kinda hard to compare the two. But over all, Game-play and price, I predict it'l be a good 5-6 years for Nintendo. With franchises like Splinter Cell, and everything else Ubisoft can dish out. And Nintendo originals like Brawl, Super Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Excite Truck, well, I'd like to see PS3 do the same with Jak and Rachet (Rachet has been confirmed). But to actually compare the two as which one is better, it's like trying to compare...water and oil. They don't mix well. But in overall sales. With stuff like that, PS3 will be lucky if they ship out on the day they planned. It's already been delayed in Europe till March. and sony has revealed that the number of units hitting US and Japan at launch has been slashed by 75% from initial figures. which means that we can currently expect that around 400,000 PlayStation 3s will be available for the console's US launch on November 17 while approximately 100,000 units will ship on the Japanese launch day of November 11. *bomb falling noise, followed by boom* So not only will you be the first in your town to own one, you'll be the only one too. |
also theres a lot of people out there who can't affort that bloody ps3. Plus how much the games will cost to. I allready know many poeple who are taking a liking to the wii.
|
Insanity:Doing the same thing and expecting a different result. See Nintendo.
Whatever. Nintendo fanboys are all the same. Even when you present facts to them saying that they've been dead last in console sales and console game sales for at least 10 years they've always got a reason why their shit won't stink again, why it'll be different this time. They were wrong then, and they're wrong now.
Not only will the PS3 outsell them, the 360 will outsell them by quite a large margin, too. When the Uprising/Porpoise spits in the face of convention 5 years from now the fanboys will rush to defend that fruity piece of shit, too. |
Statikk, hate to break it to you, but sales aren't everything.Oh and saying the PS3 is is gonna outsell the Wii is pure and utter BullShit. Look at poles in Magazines and gamesites, most of the time the Wii has over 70% of the votes, with PS3 coming in dead last. The fact is I dont think Sony has enough fanboys with that much of an income to make the PS3 float.
|
Stattik is trying to win a losing battle :p.
Honestly I Daxter is right. Sales mean nothing. I'm not saying it would be good for nintendo if they do horrible in selling. It's just every time I told people of the wii's power I always get the same remark: "Awesome" :p |
500,000 PS3 units being shipped to US and Japan vs. Nintendo's 6,000,000 worldwide... It's kinda hard to outsell 6 mil with only 500 grand.
|
:
I got the same result, also Abe Guy, I though it was 400,000 hitting the US. |
yeah, and 100,000 hitting Japan
400,000+100,000=500,000 |
