You may have played some tough friendly games, but I'd say they were played mostly in America. The reality is most big teams don't try as hard in friendlies when playing lesser competitors. Even Brazil didn't play their hardest against Australia in the world cup (while we tried so hard and still lost). America is a good team though, and off the top of my head I can think of only maybe 17-18 teams they're weaker than. Have no doubt though, they are improving. You were a bit unlucky to have such a tough group.

Statikk HDM 06-24-2006 07:40 AM

Yeah, Italy, Ghana, Czech Republic, I looked into the group and it was quite a murderer's row.

WOOT ENGLAND JUST WON :D:D

Havoc 06-25-2006 02:06 PM

Well, we're out. Twas fun.

F*CK!

Mojo 06-25-2006 02:34 PM

We had a lousy referee. I mean come on, those Portugeese played dirty, and stalled, and that schwalbe of Figo was waaaaaaaaay too bad... Then some Portugese dude kicked one of our players to the shoulder, but noooo, that Russian biased ref "saw" another foul.

And come on. Almost 20 yellow cards and 4 red ones? That's a record! But not one to be proud of!

I'm off to bed now...

Software Bug 06-25-2006 02:35 PM

Havoc and Alphascrab, Didn't you had the idea of W*F

16 yellow cards
4 red cards

That is just weird...

Havoc 06-25-2006 04:07 PM

It's a World Championship record! And we have it! YAY! :P

But yea, they played dirty as hell. And even though there is no rule that says you can't do it, it's cowardly IMO. The referee was card happy though. 4 red cards, hilarious! :P

Nate 06-25-2006 08:07 PM

Is that four just for one team? So a team was playing with four less players than the other one?!

But I've not heard anything good about the refs in any game so far. Even to the point of the ref in the Australia v Japan game apologising afterwards for his incompetence.

Havoc 06-25-2006 11:22 PM

No, each team got two reds.

Portugal went first, then to compensate Figo (I think it was) did a nice piece of acting to fool the referee in thinking that one of our players hit him in the face during a struggle for the ball. That player already had yellow, so now he had red and the teams were even again. Dirty bastards.

Lord Vulcher 06-26-2006 08:07 AM

I think it likely that Brazil will win, but Nostradamus did say that Spain might win so.....

Havoc 06-26-2006 02:06 PM

He said Spain would win the 2006 world championships? lol

Statikk HDM 06-26-2006 02:10 PM

Australia got jobbed. I mean damn!

Slig_Cake 06-27-2006 04:47 AM

man that was so dissapointing, but what can you do? Looks like that's the last time i'll be at fed square for a while

Lord Vulcher 06-27-2006 09:58 AM

:

He said Spain would win the 2006 world championships? lol

Well, he did predict it would be in Germany, so he got a bit right. But more likely to be Brazil.

Software Bug 07-01-2006 10:51 AM

*yelling and cursing*
*even more yelling and cursing*
*yet more yelling and cursing*

England's out :(:(:(

Penalty's is NOT an way to win an WC match.

Statikk HDM 07-01-2006 11:26 AM

Boy, that Ukraine game was a big letdown. I was looking forward to that match all week.

Rich 07-01-2006 04:44 PM

Portugal are ****ing wankers. A disgrace to the game, ****ing cheaters. I hope Rooney kicks the shit out of Ronaldo back in Manchester, that ****ing cunt.

I'm proud of England, they played real football, not diving to get free kicks and fouls, I'd rather have lost this gracefully than go on through being a bunch of cheats. I'll welcome the heroes home with open arms.

The Netherlands should've beat the cunts.

Mudoko_Jedi 07-02-2006 12:50 AM

soccer sucks it really sucks, soccer sucks oh yes it does.

Rich 07-02-2006 04:22 AM

How about you just get out of this damn thread then sonny?

Aye, I concur. But they pulled a Figo on us as well... And we had an overactive referee...

Software Bug 07-04-2006 03:01 PM

WOOT :d Germany just lost :)

*Sorry all germans on the forums ;)

France Vs Italy In the Finals.

Italy will win. And the second place Germany. Down with Portugal!

Wolfpac 07-08-2006 12:35 AM

So Italy plays France in the final. Who do you think will win? I'm hoping that Italy wins just so that I can say that we (Australia) just lost to the World Champions. It sounds much better than “We lost to the team that lost to the World Champions”

Nate 07-08-2006 01:09 AM

I think the entire world wants to see Italy win. Seriously, is there any non-French speaker who is actually fond of France and (more importantly) Frenchmen?

I've even heard French-Canadians hoping Italy would win...

Rich 07-08-2006 02:32 AM

All the England fans want France to win. :p

And for Germany to beat Portugal. (Actually, anyone who faces Portugal in the future will be backed by England fans to beat them for a long time following their exploits and antics in this world cup.)

Plus, the French just rock, they have some almightily cool players like Henry, Sagnol and Zidane, who deserves to win the world cup again in his last game before retirement.

Mega-mud! 07-08-2006 02:46 AM

even before the world-cup started i was hoping England would win.
i watched england v Paraguay and they played very, very badly
i lost faith in england so my grandad said england wont win the world-cup
he said Brazil would win the cup and i said I'll bet five £ that FRANCE would
win i just said it ..... weird aint it!!

Nate 07-08-2006 04:41 AM

Since when has britain supported france in anything?

Rich 07-08-2006 05:22 AM

Since we wanted them to thrash Portugal in the semi. The boos every time Ronaldo touched the ball could only come from a sense of sporting unity between the French, German and English fans in the stadium.

Slig_Cake 07-09-2006 09:42 PM

I can't believe it!

Last year an old man came into my work. He told me Australia would make second round, Brazil would not go past the quarter finals, Italy would win the world cup. He said he guranteed it and told me to put money on it. Did I? Of course not. But now I'm sure regretting I didn't...

Statikk HDM 07-10-2006 12:12 AM

Friggin' Italy. Only good things they gave us were the food and mobster movies, and the mobster movies are negated by, oh, I don't know, VICIOUS MAFIA CRIME FAMILIES! I hate shoot out victories, too. Its like years of effort and over 2 hours of game time is negated in 7 minutes. It blows.

Leto 07-10-2006 01:28 AM

I generally cant stand soccer, but that was one hell of a headbutt. :D Talk about ruining your last game buddy.

Havoc 07-10-2006 01:48 AM

Well, thats the end of it. Italy won the world cup. Congrats to them!
