Psh, oldest trick in the book.

Fuzzle Guy 05-24-2006 01:59 AM

Exoddus was actually unbanned because some felt sympathy if this is all true.

I didn't get him unbanned because I felt sympathy for him, I got him unbanned because I did not think that is was right that a member of Oddworld Forums should be banned because they have a mental disability. That is like joining a sports club and being banned because you have asthma.

Rich 05-24-2006 02:08 AM

She's not talking about you. She means the staff feeling sympathy for the abrupt banning.

Fuzzle Guy 05-24-2006 02:19 AM

He told me on msn so I got him into contact with the staff.

...I did not think that is was right that a member of Oddworld Forums should be banned because they have a mental disability. That is like joining a sports club and being banned because you have asthma.

Not quite.

Lets face it: if you have terribly bad astma you're not going to to get into, say, Wimbledon and win the thing.

Bare with me, that was only gets rid of your analogy. I do not believe someone should be excluded just because they have dyslexia {or any other mental problem}.
However, after seeing the way Exoddus behaved in posting and responding to {what was supposed to be helpful} critisim I would say there was a justified reason for the user being banned. If the manor in which Exoddus posts does not change, I have no doubt people will be called for a ban again.

Fuzzle Guy 05-24-2006 02:36 AM

I only read the post that he was banned in.

Nate 05-24-2006 05:30 AM

:

Yeah, Nate, you should be apologizing. You called the poor kid a dumbarse troll…

I already did, in case you missed it. But most of my criticism was constructive. I can only recall using the word 'troll' once and that was as a humourous afterthought.

You had nothing to do with it.

No, I didn't miss it...that's why I said "you should be apologizing".

Nate 05-24-2006 09:27 PM

Ooookay. Whatever dude.

*Yawn* Hardly called for, just seemed strange no one else offered the suggestion this was fake. Grow up, tool.

Now, was THAT called for? *shrugs*

Quite.

Doesn't this person's post seem very Dino-esque? Maybe it's the whole creating new accounts at the same IP address thing.

used:) 05-30-2006 01:34 PM

That's what I thought when he first joined (again?), either way, shut up Mutual Fuck. Like some people have stated before, it is wiser to take the naive approach, you ultimately don't know if that is a troll at the other end of the spectrum. If it's a troll, then haha, they had their laugh, good for them. But if this is actually who Abecrazy says he is, then there would be a much worse outcome rather than if it was a troll.

Facsimile 05-30-2006 06:46 PM

Hmm... The lack of a response to my question in here by Abecrazy, yet posts being made elsewhere have raised my suspicion even higher.

I second/third(?) that. Taking the naƮve approach at least at first is a good idea, but if you wait and watch over a decent amount of time and pick up on strange things, it's okay to grow a little suspicious. It's even okay to express such suspicion, but I wouldn't suggest jumping to conclusions unless there's a little more evidence, such as an IP check.

Of course, you'd imagine someone that's determined on coming back to OWF to eventually learn to change his IP address. Just a random thought.

Wow, what a loser. You were the one who pissed their pants over me being right before, weren't you? Either way, Mutual Fuck is a clever play on words so we can all take solace from that...

My message was hardly scathing, I just found it strange that no one else had even questioned it, that was all - as was clear in my post. And as it happens, someone also felt the same way and yet you didn't have a go at them. How odd. Was it just you being a) spineless; b) picking your little fight with me because I'm me; or c) you could think of some 'witty' way to change their names into an insult? How tiresome.

Adder 06-01-2006 10:58 AM

(Before you two start flaming back and forth) Mutual, if you read the thread a LOT of people find it suspicious and have aired that view. Even I do. The thing is, for decency, I'm not going to start throwing base-less acusations around.

I would like to state that I do NOT defend used or his views on most things... but I do not like "witch-hunt"-style investigation.

If a lot of people find it suspicious then my point is backed up all the more. I DIDN'T make accusations, not a proper one. I said it sounded like bullshit to me, and was curious why more people hadn't spoken out, assuming people WERE giving him the benefit of the doubt. I don't want a witch-hunt, either. My posts have never insinuated such a thing, Used just wanted to take a pot shot.

EDIT: And thank you for a measured response to a rant-y posting. Ta.

I am sure everyone has run the thought of this member being a troll (the Exoddus) at least once. I can't see how you believed your posts wouldn't have been considered "wrong" by someone. And you can arrogantly explain how justified and legit your words are all you want, but that still doesn't make them completely right, it's utter bullshit that you didn't intend for your posts to start a witch hunt, complete bullshit.

I can see how they can be considered to be wrong, I just didn't like the way you went about expressing your view of them.

Firstly - it wasn't arrogant, really. Was it? If someone starts acting up something daft-crazy you're gonna defend yourself... and that certainty may seem like arrogance. Maybe I was arrogant. The jury's still out for me! :)

Secondly - it isn't bullshit at all (and you were doing so well with keeping those nasty swears under control), it's the opposite of bullshit: truth. If I did want to start a witch-hunt, I would have been quite open about it, cos I wouldn't care.

Well now, you could have said that in the first place. And saved me a load of bickering.

Yes, my reply may seem dumb and just a deperate attempt for me to have the last word, but this thread has gone offtopic enough. I'm done.

AquaticAmbi 06-01-2006 06:41 PM

Seems like a good place to mention that some people are actually a wee bit suspicious of you, MF. So, it's my turn to ask you a genuinely curious question: Why did you join OWF if you have no interest in Odd World? As far as I know, you've never posted about it, and you don't seem to have any ties with anyone that would lead you to these forums. How exactly did you run across this place?

OANST 06-01-2006 07:36 PM

The thought had crossed our minds that you might be Dino. Not accusing. Just saying that the thought is floating around out there.

Mutual Friend 06-02-2006 07:14 AM

There was a thread not long ago (or maybe it was, never mind) where a fair few people said they stayed pretty exclusively in the off topic zone, or section, or whatever. Erm, I’m the same. Your question read more like you not wanting me to be here and indignantly asking why I was. :) Oh well.

I’m here cos a friend of mine used to post on here (and he is a Oddworld-y type person, I don’t like computer/console games, really) and I was bored one day and joined! I never usually bother with internet forum things (apart from IMDb) because they’re so full of idiots. I’ve actually just made him come back on, cos he had gone, pretty much, but as he didn’t remember his password he has a new name. Oh, he used to be called Esus. Unless he changed it after that. But anyway, that’s why.

And to clarify: I’m not Max the Mug, I’m not Dino or anybody else. Sigh. I REALLY, REALLY am a real boy. Let discussion continue on Holland and its peadophile politicians!

EDIT: While you could continue discussing THAT, you'd be in the completely wrong thread. Whoops...

Statikk HDM 06-02-2006 11:02 AM

Was das fuch? Shouldn't this be in the Welcomes and Birthdays section?

Abecrazy 06-02-2006 06:24 PM

LOL

:

Hmm... I don't know. I think I'm curious about the same thing Fax is curious about. Do you plan on staying here as a regular member, Abecrazy? I still find it all a little strange. You don't really "sound" like a thirty-year-old.

Good Gawd.

You guys don't have to believe me. That's up to you but I can tell you that I'm not trying to "Pull the wool over" on you or f*ck with your mind.
I am who I am and my son is who he is. Take it or leave it. I have nothing to prove. I plan on staying because I like the game and think it's cool to know there are others out there with similar interests.

As for sounding like a 30 year old...what are we supposed to sound like?

Mutual Friend 06-02-2006 06:27 PM

Oh look - some more paranoid 'who be you?!' shenanigans. God, it's becoming an infection in this place, 'ave a word with yourselves.

Abecrazy 06-02-2006 06:28 PM

AND....

:

Dyslexia is indeed characterised by a fair few of those descriptions. However, not everyone with dyslexia can be said to have high IQ {I'm aware IQ tests can give false results to people with dyslexia, but I would not say that ALL people with dyslexia are of above-average IQ}.

Because of my constant spelling errors from a young age and difficulty speaking certain phrases {words being said in the wrong order, or else unable to "speak" numbers in sequence} I may well have a mild form of dyslexia.

If you do not have a word processor, I recommend downloading Open Office. It is an emulated version of MS Office and is completely free.

I didn't say he suffered from ALL of the characteristics. I just said that those are some of the characteristics. I wanted to show you all that he really can't help it and is trying. That's all.

Mutual Friend 06-02-2006 06:45 PM

Oh wait, apologies - didn't realise this gal was THAT gal. Paranoid finger pointing warranted!

Ugh. Bite my arse.

Mutual Friend 06-02-2006 07:11 PM

I know, especially as you've just been nice to me (well, sort of) in another thread! Soz.

Abecrazy 06-02-2006 07:21 PM

I'm kind of between a rock and hard place.

I like your jaded wit, it makes me laugh just not when it's pointed at me.

AquaticAmbi 06-02-2006 08:30 PM

Well, most 30-year-olds don't tell kids to bite their arses. But other than that, we really don't possess any reason not to believe you, so happy posting and don't take what anyone says to personally.

Yes, of course, your significant and respectable amount of time here sure has given you some brilliant insight.

You speak as if it is a complex thing. Here's how it works: I click on a thread, read messages that go like this - 'oh, I'm a little unsure that you're actually you'. THEN, this is the good bit, I read enough of these types of messages across enough threads and I can go to myself: blimey, these people do this a lot, don't they? Stop being an idiot, all you had to say is that I was right.

Hah - owned indeed!!!!

used:) 06-03-2006 04:02 PM

Who said you were right? In case you didn't hear this before, OWF has acted as a home for a lot of stupid multies, why shouldn't we be justified for suspecting that you might be one as well?

Mutual Friend 06-03-2006 04:05 PM

I said: "Oh look - some more paranoid 'who be you?!' shenanigans. God, it's becoming an infection in this place, 'ave a word with yourselves."

I never said you weren't right to do so, I was basically pointing out how tedious it was. And I'm right. So, why this member couldn't just say 'yeah, you're right' or shut up I don't know...

Rich 06-03-2006 04:25 PM

Why the hell do you all fight so much recently? Mutual Friend (or Fuck, whatever) is right, you don't need to be some kind of wizened veteran to know that there's major multi-suspicision being thrown around far too easily nowadays.

Ambi, looks like we started some sort of trend with Wired, eh? ;)

used:) 06-03-2006 04:51 PM

For the sake of my sanity, I will end this. You're right Mutual Friend. You have always been so correct, and will always be correct. Happy? :p

Mutual Friend 06-03-2006 05:43 PM

More than words can say. I think I might be welling up...
