Keep fighting my friend!

The Marching Mudokon 06-02-2006 05:55 AM

Rock shall overcome all else!
Sorry, I was just jamming with my band today and I'm still pumped. Listening to Nirvana doesn't help either. Unfortunatley we're still looking for a drummer, though.

Statikk HDM 06-02-2006 12:10 PM

ARGGH! I hate Nirvana. Listen to Mudhoney or the Pixies for Christssake.
I'm sorry, but in high school my dorm mates had such a hardon for Nirvana, they'd spin Nirvana records constantly.
/Gramma take me home! Gramma take me home!

Fez 06-07-2006 02:47 AM

Nevermind is a good album.

Though Nirvana wouldn't be anywhere if Mr. Frank Black hadn't have written Debaser....

T-nex 06-07-2006 02:50 AM

Omg!

Nothing beats Modest mouse or Olivia Tremor Control!
I've recenbtly gotten into this, and really, all of their songs are true masterpice.
They are Indie bands, but I love them.

They are really worth a try!

Heavy Metal & hard rock - Stryper n' Petra ROX! *headbangs*

~DS~

oddveteran93 06-07-2006 04:27 AM

I will repeat what I said before METALLICA!!! I'm also starting to like Modest Mouse now and you can thank T-nex for that :D.

Statikk HDM 06-07-2006 05:26 PM

I know you probably don't want this to turn into the message board classic "What are you listening to now?" but...
What are you listening to now?
I'm spinning a mix of pre-suckage Sepultura now.

Leto 06-07-2006 10:27 PM

Tom Waits. Real Gone. Huzzah!

If it's just a jam band, drumming isn't too important/hard. For example, I'm a guitarist, but in jams I can sort of 'play' drums, as in bare basic jammable shite, but that's all you need. :P

Smells like Teen Spirit is undeniabley the jam song; Even for you Nirvana haters.

Fez 06-08-2006 03:35 AM

We've never jammed to it.

We have however jammed to Angels by Robbie Williams. All 3 of us on Acoustic guitars whistling the lyrics. Funfunfun.

Which I can thank OANST for :p.... He got me into that stuff ^_^

In responce to Statikk I'm currently listening Modest Mouse - She Ionizes and Atomizes

Fez 06-08-2006 04:25 AM

OANST acutally got me into Modest Mouse too. Sometime aaaages ago he mentioned that Radiohead and Modest Mouse were his 2 fave bands. At the time I was a Radiohead fanatic (and still am!) but I always paired the two bands together. So one day I downloaded Float On and the rest is history!

My fave MM tracks include Foat On, World at Large, Ocean Breathes Salty, Teeth like Gods Shoeshine, TRAILER TRASH, Neverending Maths Equation and loads more I can't be arsed to type :P

Moon & Antarctica is also a Godlike album.

T-nex 06-08-2006 05:04 AM

Hehe... Go OANST for making us obsessed with Modest Mouse XD...

Meh... i really love the song Night On The Sun and So Much Beauty in Dirt(though it's waaay too short IMO :()

"There's so much beauty it can make you cry"^_^

Fez 06-08-2006 02:17 PM

I havn't heard any of their early stuff or EP stuff other then a few.

Whats it like? Sonic Youth have been draining my money recently.

Statikk HDM 06-08-2006 03:09 PM

Just finished watching a gift DVD(Repo Man) so I'm gonna play the bands that were on the soundtrack, starting with Suicidal Tendencies.
/All I wanted was a PEPSI!

That's such a non-drummer thing to say...

Yes, yes it is. *hint*

Bury Me With It and Bukowski are my favourite Modest Mouse tracks, but that's probably because I haven't heard much from them.

Statikk HDM 06-09-2006 09:13 AM

Are you kidding me? Drumming is friggin' impossible.
Speaking of bad ass drumming, I was spinning a mix my brother gave me in the car and I can't think up of the band who sings the song "Apostle of Pain". Anybody know who?

Facsimile 06-10-2006 02:43 AM

Any instrument is as hard as you make it. That's why people saying 'bass is just an easier version of guitar' are ****wits.

Fez 06-10-2006 04:44 AM

:

I hate it when people say that.

a good bassline is harder to play then any solo.

Mojo 06-10-2006 01:33 PM

True, it requires quite some dexterity. It's harder to play riffs with one finger. Or two

Statikk HDM 06-10-2006 06:12 PM

What about a 6 string fretless? If God existed he'd play the bass like DiGiorgio.
A record shop was going out of business so I bought some classical music for like 80 percent off. So far I've really been digging Vivaldi. Holy shit, cats could shred back in the day!:fuzcool: :D

Silly they be. I only really started to play around with it recently, and it's entirely different. Also, reggae bass is just plain fun to play. :D

Yeah, I love what I've heard of Vivaldi. I'm often listening to The Four Seasons.
Get any Bach?

Slig outlaw 06-12-2006 03:12 AM

R and B for me..hey that rhymed.

Bullet Magnet 06-12-2006 03:32 AM

I like 1970's Rock music. There, I've said it. It is hard to admit. "I canvass for the BNP" would have sounded better. "I eat kittens before torching ophanages" would lead to less social outcasting. Queen is my favourite, but I also enjoy The Who. Also I like Rat Pack, music ripped from games, classical, and the music they always put on TV or films whenever the scene changes to a middle eastern location.

Facsimile 06-12-2006 06:09 PM

The seventies was probably rock music's greatest period. Recognising that doesn't make you odd.

You should never be ashemed of what music you like, I know I'm not. And liking oldies music isn't anything strange, there are plenty of people at my school who dig oldies.

Statikk HDM 06-12-2006 07:08 PM

70s rock, Bullet Magnet? Why are you ashamed of that?
It was a great time for it gave me two things I very much enjoy
NWOBHM/Heavy Metal
Queen. Queen is the absolute best music to play cards or game to ever. I'm not kidding. Your poker night, D & D session, or first person shooterfest will be greatly enhanced by Queen. You can get hours of enjoyment simply from playing "Another one bites the Dust" backwards and chanting along with the crystal clear backmasked message: It's fun to smoke marijuana! Its so bad that if we were to word associate I'd say Killtacular, Check raise, or Power Attack if you were to say Queen. Not king.

Leto 06-12-2006 08:05 PM

I guess he can't listen to it now, he'd be a conformist. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Statikk HDM 06-12-2006 10:10 PM

Anybody got any concerts lined up?
Anthrax is doing the rave, the album Among the Living in its entirety, I think Beyond Fear is opening. original line up:Spitz is better than Caggiano, Belladonna isn't as good as Bush, and Frank Bello on the bass! Spread the disease, wahoo!!! Oh, I'm also seeing Primus and Hot Hot Heat and an assload of other bands for 20 bucks.

Fez 06-15-2006 08:30 AM

V Festival, Staffordshire, August 20th.

Its a huge rock festival put on by British radiostation Virgin Radio.

Radiohead are headlining which is why i'm going, fave band and all. But other bands playing are like Bloc Party, Keane (aaaarrgghhh), Editors and Beck!

Going to be an amazing night.

used:) 06-15-2006 09:50 AM

I haven't been to a concert in ages.

soulstice 06-15-2006 10:44 AM

If all goes well, I'm planning to go and see Colette and DJ Heather spinning the decks on their 'House of OM' tour at Fabric.

It's probably going to be wicked.

OANST 06-15-2006 01:15 PM

You would talk like that.

Bown 06-16-2006 01:12 AM

Punk. Voted rock cos it's the closest, but I love all the fast punk like NoFX, Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, et cetera, as well as recent stuff like Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is..., and Panic! (I dunno if they're considered emo still or not, but I never thought they were.). At the moment I'm also listening to lostprophets and Rise Against.

Statikk HDM 06-16-2006 06:35 AM

Sheeyit. Whats so bad about saying "You would talk like that." What does that even mean? I talk like that and I'm a hockey watchin', milk chuggin', rock lovin' honky.
Hey, Bown, do you like stuff like Agnostic Front, Black Flag, etc?
Crossover mayhaps?(Cryptic Slaughter, D.R.I., Sacred Reich, Suicidal Tendencies, et. al.)

In what way did that come across as racist? I assume that he's white, anyway. Since he was white in the picture he showed of himself. You're a little confused.
