Actually, the idea you stated is actually rather feasible, and entirely default in vBulletin. I'd just have to use the rank system (now that we can stack ranks) instead of the custom title system as well as use secondary user groups and enable group membership.

However, Max does bring up a good point. The number of ranks you can progress through would be severely limited, and we are not garanteed that Oddworld will always be structured in such a way that we have distinctive 'groups'.

Having seen the complete list, I must say that these ranks are the best set that we've had, clearly superior to any game-specific set that we've had before. There are a lot more ranks now, too. Hopefully, new OWI news will bring new members, so we can truly appreciate this new ranking system.

It'll be a treat to any fan of Stranger's Wrath.

I agree with whats his name, who said that the ranks shouldn't all be from one game. Since with my avater and username...being a fuzzle...is kind of strange. That's also a good idea to be able to pick from a list of ranks you can get. But on the overall, I think that the rank change is a food break...but I still liked the stars....

Or maybe a little picture of what your rank represents by your avatar/name.

And Bullet Magnet, that's actually a good idea. Except I don't know where to weave it in. Maybe on the profile? Like in the margin or something.

Perhaps a word or icon in the margin representing your chosen alignment or species. Or if you put in your best game scores (scubs/fuzzles saved in games, most money earned for stranger) that goes into an algorithm and supplies a different rank purely based on your gaming performance and/or average quarma rating?

Some kind of rank based on your game scores sounds like a fantastic idea. The trouble is, it won't apply to everyone, and you'd have to hope everyone tells the truth. Maybe such fields could at least be added to our profiles.

I totally forgot about the group memberships. Seeing I use them for ACF for a couple of things, I should have no excuse for forgetting. :p Plus it really doesn't require any PHP programming ... it just needs me to put the group memberships back into the profile page, seeing as I ... erm, removed it as I thought it was useless for us.

The only thing that I have noticed during my usage of group memberships, is that people can join more than one secondary usergroup. So unless membership were approved, there would need to be some way to "force" someone to leave their existing usergroup if they wished to change alliances. Otherwise regardless of whether we use this for titles or just an extra graphic, it's going to mess up the display [not to mention the whole reason for having it in the first place].

Although I tend to agree that there just might not be enough titles to make it a feasible title system, seeing with the new one implimented we made extra levels.
