Somehow I doubt any of us will be around by then... But you never know.

Munch's Master 04-09-2006 08:16 AM

I've got an idea, it probably wouldn't work, due to the members who were involved last time probably not being here/having enough time for it, but I'd have said how about restarting the Oddlympics/OIPT forum on the forum anniversary? There were talks of restarting it a while ago, but nothing came of it. We could then host the Oddlympics between all the members on each anniversary year afterwards.
EDIT: Oh and Abeguy, what DVD? An odworld one (eg. the one that came with SW), or a random DVD/your own Oddworld DVD?

Wil 04-09-2006 02:00 PM

I've thought about trying to recreate the OIPT (though I had no interest in the Oddlympics first time round), but frankly I won't have the time for months. Perhaps that's something for a much further horizon - that mystical film release.

Alcar, if you made a forum-wide announcement, you might get more attention from any potential comic/caricature artists that only lurk in Fan Corner.

Bullet Magnet 04-10-2006 02:46 AM

I suggest a special "What if?" fan corner thread, where short What If? stories (Oddworld related) are posted. Forumers could star in some of them.

What are the Oddlympics?

I had that idea a few months ago and made a thread 'bout it. But Dino was like "z0mg NOEZ!". Hee :p

But for the anniversary I have the best idea! Make me Admin for a day! XD Awesome!

But yeah... I like the idea of the huge photo thingy, but it's just someone/people spending their time merging it all... I would but I don't have the skills [unfortunately]. -_-

I also like the decoration of the forums ideas! It'll be awesome. XD

Competitions are also nice, as are 'presents' in the form of new forum features, new... erm... websites? Generally new Oddworld related stuff I guess.
I dunno. I suck.

oddveteran93 04-12-2006 04:19 AM

Yayness! An oddworld forums aniversary! I would donate money to the forums but, I can't and I don't know how to. Oh well, I could always draw a crappy pictore of Abe and post it on the forum as a gift.

Munch's Master 04-12-2006 10:50 AM

Hey oddveteran, you're back!?! I thought you'd left; glad you're back. Back on topic, I like the idea of some sort of present or forum update. Perhaps a new forum to replace the deceased Spoiler Forum? Or maybe the RPG sub-forums could be opened in time for the anniversary *hint to T-Nex*.

Xavier 04-12-2006 11:46 AM

Make a Member picture Gallery ;)

used:) 04-15-2006 05:44 PM

I AM GLAD. Don't have much more to say. I like the idea of a member picture book.

mitsur 04-16-2006 10:28 AM

EDIT: Christmas party comment taken out for sheer retardedness.

The comic idea sounds cool, like the comic is almost everyone whos active fight each other to the death. I'd always like to be hit over the head with a frying pan by someone. Even if its cartoon violence.

Hobo 04-16-2006 10:56 AM

Contests etc. sound good to me.

P.S. Hi.

Sekto Springs 04-16-2006 11:07 AM

I like Xav's idea, but it sounds like it would take forever.

HobbitNinj 04-22-2006 04:30 PM

The comic idea sounds awesome! I can see it now... Survivor: Oddword Forums. I would probably meet my demise from the plague... I can't help it if the ratz are so darn tasty :p.
A neet little awards show would be cool. The Technodrome forums had a "fake" awards thread no too long ago. They gave out funny sigs with things like " calmest ninja ever" , "surprizingly not Duke Phillips", "opinionated sumabitch", " member with the smallest vocabulary", "future newsanchor", etc.

A neat roast on the oldest members here might be funny...

*shrugs* just my two cents...

Alector 04-23-2006 09:30 AM

Why not making a special birthday skin for the forums? Or a nice drawing?

Sekto Springs 04-23-2006 10:03 AM

I'm already making a drawing of some of my friends on here. It would take me till next anniversary to do every one though.

used:) 04-23-2006 02:25 PM

Through every active member?

Sekto Springs 04-23-2006 05:17 PM

I base it off anyone active who's posted a picture here.

Fuzzleman54321 04-28-2006 06:22 AM

I agree with this Bring back old members idea, but sorta dont too.

Agree: it would bring back a lot of missed members, that we all loved and cherished.

Sorta dont: Wonden't that bring back spammers and noobs like rydellrocksyourworld and stingbee? Just asking.

OANST 04-28-2006 12:46 PM

Let's just stick with the people who want to be here. Screw the rest of 'em.

T-nex 04-29-2006 08:21 AM

Heh well OANST has a point :p... the drawing members thingy sounds fun. Hmm...

oddveteran93 04-29-2006 04:06 PM

It'd be fun to contact as many members as we can and get them to be online on the forums at the exact same time. But it would be hard though.

They tried that on another forum once for some video game that was coming out and it DID NOT work! Only a few people showed up....

T-nex 04-30-2006 01:01 AM

Well... Few people would be anough... Maybe we could persuade them into ataying aswell XD

oddveteran93 04-30-2006 02:04 AM

It'd be nice to make the "Most users ever online" thing change (on the main OWF page, if you scroll down). It currently says: Most users ever online was 448, 02-10-2005 at 10:47 AM. Maybe we could like 450 members online

Nate 04-30-2006 06:37 AM

Only if we convince Google, Yahoo and MSN to all send us spiders simultaneously. That counter should really only list members and not guests.

Mojo 04-30-2006 11:49 AM

Heh heh, indeed. I once saw a spider COMPOSING a PM to some member. Now I wonder what the spider wrote in it...

Oddish 04-30-2006 12:18 PM

Probably asking for contact details.

Wil 04-30-2006 12:52 PM

Alcar would know. He reads everyone's PMs.

AquaticAmbi 04-30-2006 02:44 PM

>.>

I thought Alcar made it perfectly clear that he only has the power to read PMs, but he only does when a member is harassing someone.

Alcar 04-30-2006 03:05 PM

Ignore him. Max is just trying to get me to reveal my sources :p

Anyway, we seriously need to sort out what we're doing for the Anniversary. It's 10 days away!

Alcar...

Sunsurge 04-30-2006 06:15 PM

Whatever happens, I think it's a remarkable achievement that the forum is still running at all! Although the forum has only been around for 6 years, over the last 10 years we've only been allowed to enjoy just 4 games. This fanbase is amazing, and I'm really proud to be an Oddworld fan, all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

So I'd like to take this oppurtunity to raise my glass to all you great guys and girls which really make the Oddworld Community... well... ODD! I love you guys!

*breaks down in tears*

Rex Tirano 04-30-2006 06:21 PM

And welcome to the forums.

Is anyone actually doing anything? Or are we just speculating?

That was well said, you sound like you will be a pretty cool member :). Welcome to the forums.

I am glad this forum hasn't dissolved completely thorughout all the bad and odd events these forums have faces in years in the past.

Those small bursts of controversy that keep us coming back. Honestly, it's like our very own Bold and the Beautiful. Just, you know, with less Massimo.

Actually, I was just having my own fun. ;) Still, if the dealine is really approaching so quickly, I may have to get up off my laurels and see what special thing I can produce.

Splat 05-01-2006 09:12 AM

Happy Birthday Oddworld Forums! May your threads never fail, may your fans never wander off somewhere, and may MI6 never uncover the secret conspiracies of global domination kept in the emplyee lounge.

Well I won't be able to do much, except record myself playing "Happy Birthday" on the piano and maybe I'll post some crappy OW drawings of mine. God I'm pathetic :p

dripik 05-02-2006 07:15 AM

Speaking of drawings, will be a thread for Anniversary-related artwork created? Or shall we post them here, in this thread? Because I'm almost ready with my OWF 6th Anniversary Edition Comic...

skillya_glowi 05-02-2006 08:20 AM

Not a bad idea, dripik. I also like the idea of the birthday skin :P

You people can't imagine how much OWF has done for me. It was my haven that I retreated to when people in response to my "have you ever heard of Oddworld?" said, "huh?"

I haven't been a member for very long, but being a small forum (NFF) it brings the community much tighter. After a while you start seeing the same people again. I've made many friends here (at least I think I have) and I would just love the opportunity to celebrate OWF's sixth anniversary.

Personally, I'm not surprised that OWF lasted six years. It could have been twenty-six (Have you written your will yet, Alcar?) since Oddworld is such a big thing that holds us together.
