Ah well, Vampire's okay I guess, I plan on joining the Dark Brotherhood anyway. And are you sure? Allot of my friends on Live said there's HUGE crabs in the sea, you only get to see their claws.
|
Only see their claws eh? Maybe they're giant claws? :)
|
Heh, stupid Rumare Slaughterish. I spent a full day collecting 12 scales for that guy at Weye... My advise? Don't do the quest, all you get is a ring of Water Breathing.
BTW, I bought my first horse! Whee! |
Ring of Water Breathing? Hehehe... you get an amulet that does the same thing off of a dead mage in the first Oblivion gate.
I've been leveling up surprisingly quickly (Sneak raises so fast!). That being said, I've been having trouble with the games difficulty. Have any of you guys done the "Retaking Kvatch" mission? Is it supposed to be ridiculously hard? I mean, I finished it eventually, but it was damn difficult with a level 15 Stealth class. Three Daedroth and two Clannfear at once? That's ridiculous! At least you have one of those invincible quest guys to help you. I actually bumped the difficulty slider down 3 notches (from the default). That small amount seemed to balance the game back out, and I haven't felt "unbalanced" ever since. Finally, I can't decide if I like Marksmen or not. My pathetic Steel Bow wouldn't even put a dent in the Daedroth I faced, but once I found a glass one, I started killing most Necromancers/Bandits/etc with a single (Sneak Attack) arrow... which is how it should be. |

Jesus 1, nads 0. I agree with Mr. Rex, levelling up is possible this time round. Possible and very easy. I'm like, almost level 20 here. Rare items are most frequent, also. I think that the compass and fast travelling are the worst cheats this game has. You can finish the main quest in 5 hours flat using a combination of both of those. |
Gah, accidentally deleted my savegames... Have to start over again.
I think I'm gonna make this one: Race: Breton Sex: Male Birthsign: Thief Class: War Mage (Custom) Skill Class: Strength or Magic Major Skills: Heavy Armor Blunt Blade Alteration Destruction Restoration Alchemy |
If I were you, I would focus in Magic, while making Strength and Intelligence your favorite attributes. Also, it might make more sense to use Block instead of one of your weapon skills, since you already have two skills for battle (one weapon and Destruction).
The Warrior or The Mage might be a better choice for your sign. I figure you're using The Thief because your Speed and Agility would be low, but I think one of those two other signs would be more beneficial. Just some suggestions. :) |
I don't think Jesus wins by getting stapeled to two planks of wood.
Anyway, I got my Oblivion shirts today...mmm. |
I don't have the game, but I've played one on TV.
Or... at a friend's house, I forget. Either way, funniest thing I found: Battle in the arena whilst playing Queen - Don't Stop Me Now. I was very impressed with the Xbox 360, much more than I thought I would be. (It just came out here in case you think I'm slow) |

Level 20 something on OB. Getting glass armour and such. Money may not be as easy to get in this one, but it still remains the pointless bragging right of the game. |
I have changed my mind, and now he looks like this:
Name: Darian Race: Breton Sex: Male Birthsign: Thief (3 Attribute bonuses, which don't increase fast with this character) Class: War Mage (Custom) Skill Class: Magic Favoured Attributes: Strength (Carry around all my heavy armor, Fat Lute, and stuff) and Luck (Hardest attribute to get on 100) Major Skills: Heavy Armor Blade Alteration Destruction Restoration Alchemy Security Currently, these are my skill levels: Heavy Armor: Apprentice Blade: Journeyman Alteration: Novice (Don't know why I took this one... Rarely use it) Destruction: Journeyman Restoration: Apprentice (Waiting to be Journeyman, I have a spell that is supposed to fortify Magicka, I wonder if that makes me have more Magicka, thus gaining Magicka by casting magic) Alchemy: Apprentice Security: Apprentice (I am quite skillful in opening locks, even hard ones. But then again, sometimes I am a little off, and go through 20 picks before I open the lock. Does anyone know where I can buy them?) Super Munch: You should visit some of the Ayleid Ruins. Most of them have Varla Stones, and the other ones, which regenerate Magicka. Also, there's alot of magic items to be found there. I have collected over 8000, just by visiting 4 ruins. |
AS, you could be using Alteration to open locks instead of using lockpicks. That's the only good reason to have it since they scrapped Levitation magic. But you could have chosen Mysticism instead, because it will end up giving you more Magicka, and because soul trap is useful. Seriously. Recharging stuff SUCKS in Oblivion. Also, Telekinesis is the proverbial shit.
As for where you can buy lockpicks, there are Thieves Guild "fences" in a few of the cities, but you have to be a member to buy them. Another good reason to just use Alteration for opening locks. Oh man, the last Thieves Guild mission was crazy. The dungeon you went through before getting to the end sucked, though. Still, for those of you who haven't done it yet, let me just say that an Invisibility spell works wonders for escaping. |
Yeah, well, I only have an apprentice Alteration skill, so the highest I can open with Alteration is Easy. When I am opening Very hard locks with pics...

Horse armor is downloadable for you 360 peeps.

See? Bragging right. :P :
Am I the only one who finds lockpicking incredibley easy? I could open very hard locks when my security was like, level 30ish. Autoattempt is for silly people. |
Yah, I could open VH from lvl 10 and up. Took a bit of practise, but I can do it now.
Tip: Wait for the "fast" tumbler to fall down, the next one will be one of the longer ones, if you know wehat I mean. |

Speaking of glitches, when you're using the... "item" that you get for finishing the guild, DO NOT wear it when you approach a Shrine of the Nine. Your fame will be erased, your infamy will shoot up to 100 (and can be raised from there), and you will have a 500 bounty EVEN if you take off the... "item." Happened to me. Had to get my bounty removed. Now all the guards hate me hardcore. There seems to be a glitch in Aeylid Ruins as well... doors just don't seem to open unless you reload your game. |
Sniffles!
I got to play Oblivion at my friends' place, it was so awesome. Pity how argonians and khajits are the worst species. I love argonians. Now I'm all hyped up about Oblivion. |
Got the game last week, it's too good. One of the things I didn't like were all the bugs. I got locked in a house and had to make a new character once, and I can't complete the Thieve's Guild because the quest log is stuck on a previous quest I've done and handed in. Other than that, it's great and I've completed it. Stats are :
Name : Argus Species : Argonian Class : Stalker (Custom Rogue-type class) Sign : The Shadow Level : 22 Major Skills : Sneak Security Speechcraft Athletics Acrobatics Blades Light Armour Now that I've done with him, I plan on making a Warlock-ish class. Stealth was really boring. I used the same armour throughout the entire game (Dark Brotherhood Armour) as it was the only decent stealth one I could find. Found quite a few nice mage robes though. And anyone know if you can make your character bald? Wanna make an Orc Knight later, but all the hair-styles suck. |
Try making it really short, then blend it with the color of your skin.
Might do it. |
:
Needless to say, I wish I knew the glitch, as those boots are coolio. :
I think my fame and infamy are about the same, about a 67/62 ratio. I don't know whether to consider it a good or a bad thing. :
Yeah, the beast races were somewhat botched this time round. Khajiits especially, although I loves me some M'aiq. Argonians are okish, not as megacool though. |
Argonians not mega-cool? Blasphemy! Only nice looking race in the game, in my opinion :S.
Oh, and for anyone who cares, I found out some nice glitch. Get a bow and some arrows, and pull the bow back. Go to your inventory and select the arrows you're using, it should say something like ''you can't un-equip this item''. After that, find an item and drop it, then return to the game. Then the item you dropped should be duplicated, the number depends on the amount of arrows you have. You can use them or sell them, but it won't work with every single item though. It's just a faster way to get cash rather than killing poor, old Dorian. Oh, and if you want a Unicorn mount, head Northeast of the Ill Omen Inn, till you come to a place called Hircine's Shrine (or something) then go slightly South-East of there, and a bunch of Minotaurs will come and try to kick your ass. Pull them back to the Shrine and kill them, then sheathe your weapon and go to where the Minotaurs came from, the Unicorn is there and ride-able. The Unicorn is an annoying mount, though. If you sheathe your sword or start fighting near it, it will go hostile and attack you, so you can never ride it. It doesn't stay still either, so if you dismount, go into a cave and come back, it will be miles away. Finally, you can't armour it. It does have a nice benefit though, as it can't be hurt my normal weapons, only Silver, Magic or Daedric. Some people will have read that crap on websites already, but if not, there you go. One thing I'm wondering about though is the Giant Mudcrab. There's some very weak, large Mudcrabs in some caves, but not huge. Anyone read something on the giant one? Only Sea Monster I've found so far was the Giant Slaughterfish, which wasn't exactly Giant :( |
:
Otherwise, I think these things are quest related/heavily scripted. |
:
Thanks to that damned glitch, I now have a Fame rating of 5 and a Infamy rating of 112. Which I guess is OK, because it suits my character, although everyone hates my guts. :p |
I beat the game and everyone's disposition maxed around 90-100. Is this normal? Made all my speachcraft building absolutely shit.
|
It sounds normal. Disposition goes up/down in relation to your fame/infamy, and I'm sure you were famous-ass by the time you finished your game.
On a completely different note, TELEKINESIS IS FUN AS HELL. It was so worth training my Mysticism (minor skill) to 25 so I could use it. Only downside is you can't use it to open chests and doors like you could in Morrowind. Poo. |
I don't understand Telekenisis at all. It only lets you pick up stuff like skulls, weapons etc., but you can do that already with the LB button. Does it actually do something else?
|
It lets you pick up things that are far away, then bring the items to you so you can grab them. If the "Grab" text shows up in red, you can pick it up with Telekinesis (RB). Then, you can use (L) to bring the item toward you and (R) to push it away. Press (L) and (R) at the same time to drop the item.
It's handy for stealing stuff, especially if you don't have a very good Sneak skill. My character has a high Sneak skill, but I still use Telekinesis because it's fun. Totally. |
Holy crap, I didn't know you could pull it in and out. Coolio.
|
Snazzy skill then.
Any got some Daedric Armour? I can only seem to get it by Conjuration. |
Heh, found out about a way to get weightless Daedric weapons. Not sure if it'll work, I'm gonna find out in a few.
Another thing, does anyone know where to rename the houses? I recall the guy from the Anvil house quest talking about some Imperial Archives, but I have no idea where that is... |

What happened to sexy spikey glass? |
The glass in this Oblivion is wicked awesome. It's like samurai armor... only made out of green crystal or something. So much better than Morrowind's glass armor, which was irrefutably ugly as sin.
My character specializes in light armor, and glass seems to be much more common than Daedric. I find Daedric cuirasses all the time, but all of the other Daedric armor is pretty rare... meaning it probably has something to do with your proficiency in that armor as well as your level. Or maybe I'm just imagining it, because I have no reason to pick up Daedric armor. Regardless, both types of helms (glass, Daedric) are really hard to find. |
I was just wondering that, myself. We all know what the daedriac helmets look like from various screenshots, but what the hell do glass ones look like?
I'm assuming (but not hoping) a green ironish helmet. |
The glass from Morrowind made the people look like big lizards.
|
Not seen a piece of Glass or Daedric yet. I'm level 22 and specialised in Heavy Armour. Do I need to go through an Oblivion Gate? Or some random dungeons?
