I've never understood the idea of the characters in OSW blurring the line between the native industrial races. The Stranger aside, all the characters either strive to live in harmony with nature, or they're invaders who treasure Moolah at the expense of the natives. Their levels of technology and importance in Mudos's social structure aren't relevent as far as I can see, because their motives and philosophies are clear.
Stranger, despite feeling pressured to blend in with industrial creatures, actually dislikes Clakkerz, Outlaws and Sekto - so why is he trying to get on with them in the first place? Even as he's trying to raise the Moolah for his operation he knows he prefers to spend time with nature and feels an affinity for the Grubbs. I can only conclude he indeed cannot envisage a life with them, regardless of how much of his herritage he's aware of. Is Stranger a terrorist? He's led an uprising against Sekto's forces and destroyed another profitable corporation. I do wonder how his reputation will develop. If his notority grows to parallel Abe's, that would be a much more plausible reason for them to combine forces than to simply bump into each other. Abe is trying to unite the fragmented Mudokon race, so it follows he may try to ally other native peoples to his cause. I do want to find out what happens to Stranger, though. |

I'd think that stranger would become a legend, as in something that people don't actually believe is true. After all, the clakkerz didn't initially beleive that there were any steefs (possibly ever) so maybe they'd just ascribe Stranger's accomplishments to forces of nature and just laugh at Grubb stories of a great hero.
In a way, he'd become something to scare the children at night, a boogie man if you will. |
yeah, that would have been cool if stranger had to bounty up abe and possibly munch too. then at the end they would fight and no matter what stranger losses then it goes back to abe and munch games(the real quintology)
|
...not going to happen. Apart from the fact that they live on other ends of the continent and the fact that Stranger has given up bounty hunting and that Lorne has said that Stranger and Abe will never meet.
EDIT: I know that last sentence is bad english but I can't be f'ed right now. |
oh i know it wont happen, i was just saying that it would be cool if thats how stranger's wrath actually was.
|
I would say Stranger would be called a terrorist, but he actually led an armed invasion, which isn't normally considered a terrorist tactic. He'd probably go more along the lines of rebel leader, or legend, as NDW suggests. I'd very much like to see more of Stranger's story.
As for why Stranger is trying to get money for an operation to allow him to live among creatures he dislikes, I honestly believe that he's trying to take the easy way out. Whether or not he loves or hates the industrialists, he thinks that joining or blending into their society is the best way for him to survive. I always thought that that was what made him "weak inside" and strong outside. |
I dont want to see more of strange'rs story, I want to see the old Oddworld come back.(well I would, but I would MUCH rather see abe and munch)
|
Perhaps not a whole game about stranger, but I'd like to see a bit more about him.
a book would be fine ;) |
Was Stranger's Wrath pre-magog? What I want most is for OWI to resume the porjects of Squeek and such.
|
No, SW takes place right about the time Munch's story ends (right, Xav? Max?). I assume that the Magog Cartel is still in operation, but their influence isn't as strong in that region.
Remember on Stranger's bio, they said he'd recently bought an item produced by Splinterz; a pretty good indication that they're still chugging. |
right... it's a bit after the end of MO. ;)
|
what did stranger buy from splitnerz?

what is the neaklace for?
do they mean file like papers or for your nails? what is this splinerz boot stuff? and yeah if you look closley, stranger is in desprate need for a toothpick. |
Well Interesting enough isn't Mr. Sekto a member of the Magog Cartel? Say part of the Octigi's branch of the Cartel? I aways thought he had some ties with the Magog.
Ya know what would be a cool story? Since Sekto never really died at the end and ended up swimming up stream to some place else, what if he meets a bunch of Glukkons who take him in? Sekto and Mollock the Glukkon running a new and approve Rupture Farms. Theres a challange for Abe and Munch. |
that would be very cool but that thing in the water cant be sekto because h is laying on the ground
|
actually it was sekto...
sekto is only the "head" that used a body from someone else. |
ooooh. so sekto was controlling the old steef who was actually nice and wanted the water to come back?(i thought that sekto was a sick feak steef who collected heads of his own kind. and that thats what he looked like after he tok his head out of his shirt.)
|
Correct, cullen. I don't think Sekto belongs to the Magog Cartel. His office and the dam is decorated with symbolism quite distinct from the Cartel logo. Long ago it was rumoured that Octigi formed the Oddworld Mafia. Ironically enough, Molluck joined this to exact his revenge on Abe - but that's just purely rumour.
|
I don't think that the Magog cartel includes any species other than Glukkons. My vibe is that there isn't any bond even between similar species.
|
but isnt the magog cartel setup all the way over where abe and munch are?
|

No. He was merely knocked out. He's currently missing, presumed dead.
SPOILER: In MO, Molluck was going to return and be put on trial. See the Stranger Bonus DVD for more info. |
No lobodiablolonewolf, he and the Slig with him were not killed just seriously injured.
