Yes, I, too, am anticipating the next Oddworld game. I'm even more excited that we will probably not know what game they will be working on (if they ever get back to that field-I mean, OWI lay surprises on us sometimes! :D). Anyway, like several other people have said, the last quintology game is supposed to be a game with 5 heroes (Abe and Munch included) fighting to completely overthrow the Magog Cartel. (At least that's what I think.) I, too, also heard that they would move into a big city-like place in the end like several others have, but really, this game is WAY too far away to be speculating now-we don't even have the third quintology game yet! :D Oh well, it's still fun to talk about it, though. ;)

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think the quintology only occurs on mudos. The rest of Oddworld will only be explored in other games.

I'm sorry to be such a naysayer, but "interesting ideas" doesn't mean a company in exsistence. It doesn't mean a game contract or a movie in production. It doesn't mean Squeeq's Oddysee in my hands or an Oddworld movie at the local cineplex. It doesn't mean that Oddworld still exsists as anything more than some morphine-dream like epic in Lanning's head. Yeah,thats right, phukk me, I'm always naysaying. But Microsoft was burned and so was EA Games, mostly through their own fault, but they were burned nonetheless. Oh, and the mass firings and all around bullshit and doublespeak that LL is known for (whether you believe LL deserves it or not) isn't going to start a company up and it will definately hurt the chances of any future games being made.

The quintology will be done in other forms of media. All of your theories are simply based off of old Oddworld facts that seemingly changed over the years. You guys are constantly repeating yourselves all the time.

I am fairly convinced that Lorne's vision "ie Oddworld" will be done so much more differently than what all of you seem to expect in the comming years ahead. New ideas that we haven't begun to imagine. In the business of creative work things are constantly on go meaning technology is constantly changeing and old concepts seem to be left in the dust to bring forth a new and improved vision.

You can say Oddworld is becomming new and improved! Thats at least what I am getting out of this.

Agreed, Statikk. If people are kept in the dark too long, they will lose interest and drift off to other things, because it's difficult to wait on the edge of your seat when there is no end in sight to the waiting. They need to hook people's attention during this critical period of transition.

I agree with him. We are not retarded. Besides, 'retarded' means that someone is either mentally challenged or has a mental disability (or handicapped). It doesn't mean that anyone is stupid. Anyway, back on topic. I agree with Statikk HDM and Sapphire on this. We shouldn't be kept in the dark because for one thing, it can get a bit confusing for the fans, and another, like Sapphire has said, people will lose interest eventually. From everything that Lorne has stated about Oddworld's move to the new media, I'm still a bit baffled because he also basically said that they aren't exactly leaving the game industry. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. :)

This is probably why Lorne stopped making games, he saw that the deep and glorious storylines and references were being targetted at the audience symbolised by this person.

I just hope Oddworld leans more to the odd and less to the realism we saw in Stranger's Wrath. What drew me into Oddworld was the originality and twisted art direction. It seems to me that the games are introducing too much that's already familiar to the human world and less ODD.

Depends entirely what kind of company you're trying to be. Lorne felt being a developer was sacrificing the creativity he could have realised, and seeing OWI primarily as a creative content company, decided the structure of OWI had to change dramatically, as in all in-house production was ceased, leaving just Lorne and Sherry.

Whether we think that was a good move or not is pretty irellevant. It's difficult to see how a team of people not ‘in tune’ with Oddworld's style and philosophy could produce the same quality of films and games as the OWI we were familiar with, but Lorne is a man of standards, as proven by his work with Ballistic Publishing, and I'm sure only companies he agreed wholeheartedly with would get the chance to apply their artists to the Oddworld franchise - no more ART CO. ;)

Chatspeak is reserved for chats, whereas normal speak is appropriate for public forums such as this, where you have time to type slowly and thuroughly.

It's also a matter of respect. Other people try hard to make their posts readable, then some guy comes along and gobbs all over the keyboard and calls it a post and makes the rest of our efforts look futile.
