That was absoulutly great! i'm glad you got your computer running.
That chapter was excellent, Kimon. :) I can't wait to see what else you write. Job is a very interesting character as well.
I've been busy lately and haven't had time to work on the fan fic, but here I am, and Job is making a triumphant return!
Chapter 7 - We're out! Alright! I had just gotten that Vykker under my control. He was freakin' out, too. I could feel him all scared and confused, and I actually felt sorry for him. Then I remembered he was a Vykker. At that point I lost all my sympathy for him. Anyway, I started searching his mind for a way outta this place. "Hmmm... nope, heavily guarded... Oh! No wait, that's a bathroom... Bingo! A drop chute!" I started 'researching' the chute and found that it was only guarded by 2 lazy interns. That was our way out. So I (and by 'I' I mean the Vykker I possesed) started down the hallway to where the chute was. It wasn't that far, probably a couple hundred feet or so. When I got there, I found the Interns sleepin' on the ground. Lazy bastiches. Anyway, I was thinkin' about luring them away from the chute instead of shooting 'em up with the Snuzi. Ya know, for Quarma purposes. Then I remebered they were Interns. So I whipped out my gun and said: "Guess who's back, Shmucks!" Blamblamblamblamblamblamblamblamblamblamblamblamblamblambalmblam! When I was through with 'em, they looked like friggin' pincushions. Hehe. They had it comin'. Anyway, I just pushed the bodies on into the chute and pressed the big read RELEASE button. Bad idea. Apparently, the RELEASE button triggers an alarm when it's used during night hours. That woulda been a tasty little bit of info about 5 seconds ago. "BREEEEEEEEE! BREEEEEEEE! BREEEEEEEE! Kill the bastiches! Kill the bastiches! BREEEEEEEEE! BREEEEEEEE! BREEEEEEEE!" Crap. Guards were comin', and they were comin' fast. We had to get movin'! So I unpossesed the Vykker (man, blowin' up a Vykker felt SO darn good), and I shook outta my trance. George was standin' next to me smackin' me in the head. "What the hell was that? What were you doin'?" "No time to explain! We gotta get this thing outta it's cage and skeddadle!" Uh-oh. Another crisis. How was I gonna get this thing outta it's cage? Suddenly, the Shaman's voice popped into my head. "Use the chant, Job, use the chant." So I did. I started chanting and chanting, and when the chant energy got big enough, it shot outta my hands and blasted a hole in the cage! Apparently the monster already knew we were trying' to bust it out, cuz it just got out and looked at me expectantly. "Alrighty, let's book!" So the 3 of us (I didn't know where the others went) started running down the hall towards the chute. We all piled in, and the last thing I saw before I hit the RELEASE button was 2 biggy bro sligs with HUGE guns rounding the corner, along with some smaller slig poppers and about 4 Vykkers, all screaming at the top of their lungs. "You can't get away, you sons of bi-" Then I hit the button, and we flew out into the great unknown. END OF CHAPTER 7. Is that a triumphant comback, or what!?!? :D |
I don't really like reading from behind my computer, but I did it this time...
great work, kimon! |
Yeah great work! Pleeeeaaaaaaasssssseeeeeee continue!
That was a GREAT chapter! Please continue on, hehehehehe, (devililish laugh)
These are really cool chapters, please continue. ;)
Wow, that was by far your best chapter yet, Kimon! I love your style of writing-you keep the story interesting and it doesn't get watered down ever! Keep up the good work! :)
Well, thanks a lot you guys. :) I'm on vacation now (i'm using my family's computer) so the new chapter will probably be done in a week.
okie dokie! *Jumps up and down waiting*
Ok. We'll be waiting. :)
Me too! ;)

Hi Everybody! Here's the Ocho:
Chapter 8 - Monster Finally, we had escaped! I pushed the button, and we were sailing to freedom! The only problem was, we didn't know where the heck we were. That soon became apparent. I personally was expecting to fly into some sewer and see some dead Fleeches or something. That wasn't what happened. I looked down and saw trees: big, green, pretty trees. It was great. Wait a minute. How was I looking DOWN and seeing trees? Oh boy. It was just at that moment I realized there was about 300 feet of air between us and the trees. We were falling, and fast! Air was wooshing through my eyes, and it really hurt (I wasn't used to having wind in my eyes cuz, you know, the stitches). I thought to myself, "At least we won't die with those scumbag Vykkers." Then I saw the water. Sweet, saving water would break my fall. Closer, closer, closer we got until the big SPLASHSMACK! George did a belly flop. Ouch. Meanwhile, I was under the water, flailing around like a madmud, when I felt something lift me up. It was the monster! He was swimming me and George to the shore! What a nice guy... I mean girl.... I mean monkey monster thing. Anyway, he saved us. When we got to shore, we shook off the water (George was tenderly rubbing his sides) and took a look at our surroundings. It was some kind of forest. I'm not sure why, but I felt strangely at home. I was even changing from a grayish brown to a muddy green. This was great. I turned to the monster and tryed to thank him. "Uh... thanks, dude." It looked at me like he knew what I was saying. I think that Shaman did something that let me communicate with the guy. It was cool. Then George started to speak up. "Hey, Job, we have to save those other guys. There's still more in there!" "You're right... but how? We don't even know where the ship is anymore. It flew away!" "I dunno. Let's just find something to eat and sit down. "Yeah, whatever." While Georgie went off to find some food, I stayed with the monster. We're gonna have to thing of a name for you, ya know. How 'bout something like Teok or Munster or... no those names suck. Hmmm...." So for like 20 minutes I just sat there thinking up names, when finally I got it! "Oh! I know, we'll call you Shilah! I think that fits you." So came the name that you will be hearing throughout this story. Anyway, just about then George came back with some funny green berries and -PRAISE ODD- Spooce! We chowed down for a long time, and dozed off. Tomorrow we'd figure out what we were doing. END OF CHAPTER 8. |
And Kimon makes another excellent chapter! That was great! I wanna hear more please! :D
That chapter was fantastic, Kimon! Just keep on writing because this story gets better and better as it goes along! :D
Alright I'm continuing the story. Thanks for the name, Oddchick. :)
Chapter 9 - Through The Forest I slept peacefully in the great big forest that night. Something there made me feel at home. It was wonderful being with nature again. I hadn't been there for so long. Anyway, when I woke up, the sun was poking through the canopy, and the birdies were chirpin'. I yawned, stretched, and went over to wake up George and Shilah. When I went over to George, he was muttering in his sleep. "Oooh, yeah, I'll have some more Spooce. Mmmm... thanks princess." I started chuckling. I still didn't know George too well, but I knew him well enough to scream "HOLY ODD THE SLIGS ARE COMING!!!!" in his ear. It was hilarious! He jumped up all scared and started screamin' like a little girl. Then, when he realized I was jokin' around, he got pissed and smacked me, and we rolled around on the forest floor for a while. This woke Shilah up, so we started to have some breakfast and talk about what we needed to do. We sat around the campfire and talked for a while. We decided that we needed to head in the direction we last saw the airship travelling in. But the main problem was we didn't know how to catch up! But Shilah solved our problem. He indicated that he could carry both of us pretty fast through the forest. What a nice beast! So we ate up the last of the Spooce and went on our way. Shilah was haulin' butt! He was really flying. The first couple of hours were great. We flew through the forest, seeing all sorts of ponds, creeks, big huge trees, and all sorts of cool nature stuff! We also saw birds, animals, and Fuzzles and stuff. It was great! After that though, it started to slow down. I could tell Shilah was getting tired, so I told him we could take a break. We rested for a little bit, found some stuff to eat drink, and started up again. Shilah was still going slower than before. It was a few hours before he collapsed, and we still weren't even out of the forest. So I told the guys to start setting up camp. George tried to light a fire whlie I went out to get some grub. I was just walking throgh the woods, pickin' up whatever I could find, when I heard something in the bushes. The camp was out of earshot, I had deal with whatever it was myself. I was repeating the chant mantra in my head for when the thing came out. I was ready to take it on. The bushes started to wiggle a little more. Then they started to shake reall hard! I was getting scared. That thing was ready to charge me. Just as I started chant, the thing popped out of the bushes! I was so scared. It was big, it was muscular, it was ready to rip me to shreds! It stepped into the light, and I saw that it was... an Elum! I switched from scared outta my mind to super-happy in a second. I was stunned. This guy would solve our travel problems. I went up to pet him, and he took an immediate liking to me. I grabbed all the food I brought and started leading him back to camp. George was really excited. He started jumping for joy. He took the Elum, started petting it, feeding it, and cleaning it up. He even began to make a saddle for it. They were gonna be best buddies, I could tell. I layed in my makeshift hammock (which I made out of leaves and some grass), looking up through the trees at the stars. It was a good day. Tommorow we'd get up and out of this forest (the prospect made me fell sad; I had grown to love this forest). Nothing could go wrong. Nothing at all. END OF CHAPTER. I hope you enjoyed it! :D |
HORRAy!!!!!!!!!! that was an awesome story! i was wondering if you were going to finish! I think you should name him,.....Rodney,Gary or Tony. hope i helped ya! ;D
Thanks, Abe16. Although those are cool names, they don't really fit the character. I suppose it's hard to try to name something when you don't know what it looks like or what kind of personality it has (As the writer, I connect with my characters in ways that I can't express in words). I'll try to get a picture of him up soon. Maybe that'll help.
As for finishing the story, it's not gonna happen anytime soon. :D I just love writing this story, and I don't want to give up the characters before at least 20 chapters. I'm gonna drag this out as long as I can, trying to develop the characters and story in an interesting an coherent manner. So I'm guessing I'll keep this story up for at LEAST a few more months. :) |
You mean there's gonna be a sequel? Or are you gonna edit and erase The End continue? I look forward to it!!!
Oh, whoops. I forgot to "OF CHAPTER" at the end. That was just the end of the chapter, not the entire story. ;)
There, it's been edited. |
Hey, nice story, Kimon! :D I saw where you thought that Ben wasn't the right name for the character. Honestly, I think that there are three names that would suit the character and his personality, in my opinion. I don't know why, but I think that a name that begins with S would work. I don't know why, but it seems that it would suit the character. =/ The first one is Seiko, which is a Japanese name that means truth or force (trust me, I actually did a search on some names :D). The other two are Shilah, which is Native American for brother (so the site said. ;) ) and Socorro, which is a Spanish name for helper. I just figured that these names portrayed the character's personality the most. If you'd like to use something else, though, it's alright. I was just posting these to help you out a bit. ;)
Wow, Oddchick, you nailed that on the head. Shilah is a perfect name! However, I'll have to mess with it to make it sound a little more goofy (you know, Oddworldian). But that will definetly be the root of his name. Thanks. :)
You're welcome. I can't wait to see the "Oddworldian" version of the name! :D
I haven't thought about an "Oddworldian" name yet (and believe me, I'm working on it ;)), but I have come up with this facial rendition of my character. He's gona through quite a few design variations by now, but I've chosen one, and I'm gonna stick with it. Here's a quick sketch of his head. I tried to get the eyes as close to a Mudokens as possible. Enjoy. :)
P.S. I've edited some small parts of Chapter 4 to comply with the current version of Shilah. Just a heads up. |
Nice stroy so far, I like the drawing Kimon! How about the name...hmm, he looks like a Kekoa to me, just a name I had in mind. :)
Awww, he looks so cute in that drawing...in a strange way! :D I can't wait to see the character when you're completely finished with the designing processes. :)
Edit: By the way, thanks for using the name I gave ya! ;) |
I really like how you tell the story as if Job's speaking. It makes me think of the second story in Sin City almost, the one with the burly dude.
Good job with Job! Keep it up! |
Hey Dipstikk, I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I've been trying to illustrate Shilah, but I can't get everything to fit together with the body, it just ends up looking terribly awkward. Would it be all right if I PM'd you a description (along with some crappy images) of the basic design of Shilah so that you could put together an illustration? I'd really appreciate it. Just send me a PM if you assent and I'll reply. :)
I'll see if I have time, but I'm swamped for the next two-to-three weeks. Fianls, graduation... that stuff.
Like I said, go on and send 'em, but it may take a while. I haven't even had time to draw in three days. |
That's okay. In about 2 weeks I'll probably figure out how to draw it anyway. :)
Hmmm... I'm gonna have to start working on a new chapter. |
Alrighty, here's the new chapter. Oddchick, I've decided to keep the name as it is. A nickname might develop over time, but that's still to be determined by my staff. Namely me. :)
Anyway, here it is: Chapter 10 - The River I woke up again with a sound night's sleep. No dreams, no visions, no nuthin'. When I got up, I was surprised to find out that the other fellas were already up! They were chowin' on some berries, and George was finishin' up his Elum's saddle. I walked over to them. "Hey guys, what's up?" "Nothing much, Job. Just finishin' my saddle n' stuff." "What? I thought you finished that last night." "Oh yeah, I did. But, um, Elum here was hungry, and he, um..." "He ate your saddle?" George looked at his feet. "Yeah, kinda." Apparently their relationship was sort of a one-sided thing. Oh, well, as long he could run. I started "talking" to Shilah about how he was gonna do today. He was tired, but he let me know he could make it. That dude's a good guy. Anyway, when George finished his saddle and got in on the Elum (which took some persuading, and quite a few bruises), we headed off. The first few hors were pretty nice. We saw more of the forest, and I was getting greener by the minute. The land was changing as well. Everything started to get warmer and wetter. I guess the Vykkers were headed for some kinda tropical island or something. Just before lunch, something amazing happened. We were heading through the forest (which now was closer to a jungle) when we reached water. A LOT of water. It was some kind of river or something. The view was awesome. We were at the top of a hill, looking down on a river valley. It was full of trees with big, long leaves, and at one end, what looked like miles away, was a huge old building. It looked kinda like a dam. Whatever it was, it was HUGE. It was also an oasis for me and George. First the forest and now this? Rivers are great spiritual fonts that can help us Muds get in touch with nature. So we slid down the hill and started listening to the river. She said that she was the powerful and long-flowing Mongo. I asked her if she saw anything unnatural around her in the past few days. She said yes. Two days ago, she said that a huge round metal bird flew over her, and was still over her now. I looked up, and all I could see was clouds. I questioned her again. "Where is it now?" She told me that it had followed her downstream. I was shocked for some reason. I had expected it to head in one direction. Why would it change? Did something unexpected happed, or was that part of the plan? I was so confused. I looked at George, and he had heard what I did. Instead of confusion, he looked anxious, like he wanted to be at the ship NOW, beating up those Vykkers. Maybe he really held a grudge against those punks, I don't know. But what I did know was that we were heading downstream. I started to stand up to leave, and as soon as I got up, I was down again. Wait. What? I looked down, and all across my body were ropes with arrows attached to 'em. I looked around wildly, the others were tied up too! What was going on?!?! Who did this?!?! As if answering my unspoken question, a figure stepped out of the trees and looked right at me. It was short and thin, and it held a bow. "We don't like tresspassers here. You're not going anywhere." Damn. Why does this stuff always happen to me? End of Chapter 10. There ya go. :) |
That was an excellant chapter kimon, please finish. :)
You're leaving the name as Ben? Oh, well, do as you wish, I suppose-it's your story, after all. ;) Anyway, that was an excellent chapter as usual, Kimon. Keep your interesting story going. :)
No, no, you misunderstand. I'm leaving Shilah as it is. I previously said I would make the name more Oddworldian, but I've decided not to. "Ben" in the last chapter is a typo. :D I'm gonna go fix that now.
Oh, ok! Yes, I'll admit, I did misunderstand-I do that a lot of the time! :D Sorry about that. Anyway, like I've said, it's a great story-I can't wait to see what you come up with next. ;)
Hi guys. Sorry I haven't updates in a while. I've been super busy with school, and I feel like I'm neglecting the story. Which is bad. :(
So in an attempt to bump it up, I'll show you a picture of what Shilah's torso and legs look like. Enjoy the low-quality crappy sketch! :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v702/Kimon/Me034.jpg |
Nice work Kimon, I was wondering if you were going to update. :)
Oooh, nice work, Kimon! It looks amazing! I can't wait to see him when he's finished! :D
Another triumphant comeback! Yay!
Chapter 11 – The Clan I was scared. I had never been in a sit’ation like this. Some had trapped us, and we didn’t know who. I swiveled my head around to look at the other guys. They were all struggling on the ground, but Elum was gone. He musta ‘scaped. “Hey! Hey you guys on the ground all tied up… uh, n’ stuff! Yeah! Yeah you! Look at me!†I had to twist my neck around to see the guy. It kinda hurt, and I heard few cracks. Anyway, when I got my head around, it turned out the guy was a chick. And she had a buncha friends. She was just standin’ there, all proud like. I almost didn’t see her at first cuz she was so dang short. But once I realized I was talking to midgets, I could see her clearly. She was short, slimy, and looked like some kinda wormy thing, and she had a chest piece and a loincloth on. Also, there was some weird spidery shaped thing on her head. It gave me the creeps. “Hey buddy! My eyes, they’re all, like, they’re up HERE man, okayso you look at my eyes when I’m talking to you.†All her little buddies started murmurin’. I heard snippets like “He’s gonna get it, dude.†And “Oh man, dude, they’re toast!†I craned my neck to look up in her eyes. They were pretty n’ green. Like my skin. “AlrightNOBODY! And I mean NOBODY! Comes in on messes up our turf, okay! Wellactually maybe like the Steef, um, er sumthin’, but NOONE ELSE! Uh… ‘kay?!†Whoa! I could sense Shilah start up at the word Steef. He was trying to talk to me, but I couldn’t hear him. I spoke up as best I could in my screwy position. “We-ouch- we weren’t trying to mess up your turf, dude! We were just following this shi-†“Hey SHUTUP! ‘K, cuz you’re like disrespectin’ me n’ stuff. So anyway, like, you’re not trying to mess with us? Er sumthin’?†“Nope.†“Oh, okay. That’s cool, I guess then. Alright dudes, let ‘em go.†All her little buddies waddled over and pulled the ropes off us. The leader then came over to us and introduced us to her little bunch o’ buds. Shilah wanted to talk, but I told him later. “Hey, I’m Job. This is George, and this guy here is Shilah.†“Alright duders, nice to meet, nice to meet… anyway this… is my clan, okay? We are… the GRUBBS! ‘N stuff. And we’re like, a proud nation, and you’re our new buds, aright? Cool, man. Oh yeah, and I’m Kido. I’m the leader.†Her clan nodded. “Yeah, she’s like, our number 1 chick, dude!†“Rock on, Kido!†“I luv you soooo much, Keedster!†Man, these guys were cool. I was psyched to have new friends. Shilah felt the same way, but he was distracted cuz he still wanted to talk, but I told him, “LATER, let’s just chill for now.†Geroge was not happy. He liked the Grubbs just fine, but he was real worried about Elum. He was crying ‘n stuff. I felt real bad, and I told him we’d go lookin’ for him in the morning. He agreed halfheartedly. After the introductions we were swept on to a celebration of some sort. There was dancin’, and apparently I’m real good at it. There was a big circle of Grubbs around me and I was just jammin’ and spinnin’ to the drumbeat… I loved it. I was glad to have these new friends, and they were glad to have us. The day started off pretty crappy, but it ended up like a dream. End of Chapter 11. Alright. Now go back and read Kido’s parts like a Grubb would say ‘em. They make a lot more sense that way. :p Anyway, I hope you liked it. :) P.S. Thanks to Munch's Master for reminding me that I have a fan fic. ;) |
Nice chapter, Kimon! I just love those Grubbs-they're so hilarious! I'm glad you put them in your story. ;) Well, I don't really have any critique for ya because it was already a great chapter-just keep 'em coming! :)
