That chat applet just seems to be buggy IMO. I remember when I was at OWI and me, Alf and Alf's Assistant were all on Oddchat through the same internet connection. But on my laptop, the chat room just stopped working without warning all the time, not giving me any more new messages. I had to reconnect all the time.

I wonder if trying another "free" chat room service would be any better.

Very reasonable. The only problem is finding one with a good java applet - as that is what appears to be the problem.
