Am I the only one that thinks that that Vykker looks like he's been lynched? Perhaps there was a revolt against the doc or something?
|
No, I too initially thought the Vykker looked like it was being lynched. But it also looks like a puppet. My idea that it was a joke stemed from both of those guesses.

Well how about the sketch art on the X-factor of the Vykker in the Corner with Stranger looking at him. I guess it could have been changed but we will see what Alf says (that is if he starts to dear alf responding again in December).

Cheers to that! What Al the Glukkon says is true in factual basings too! I learned that somewhere, perhaps it was the Art od Oddworld Book. It said that The area of Vykker's Labs that was destroyed was the main research building and devoplment center but Vykkers Labs where all over the place but didn't fly/float (kinda like the others labs were like pharamceys and the flying one was the main reseach office) I have that was the case with Rupture Farms, it was the main building, and without it the other Rupture Farms sorta died off without any help from the main Rupture Farms. The Story with Soul Storm Brewery is hazy as to if to Soul Storm stayed around still being produced after the destruction of the brewery (Alf said the Soul Storm for the Blitz Packers came from a warehouse storage area).
Hope thats helpful to the topic |

There were also pics of muds that we assume represent the salamanders. In TAOOI:TFTY book there is also a small picture of some muds in a fishing village. There is a comment that it was a concept art for Stranger, with the muds filling in for other species. |
Lorne was lying!
A Vykker does appear in the game: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images..._screen003.jpg And from the pile of papers, which I assume are captured bounty rewards, Stranger is negotiating with the Vykker about his medical procedure. Alcar... |
Yep, that's definitely a vykker!! Shame on Lorne for lying to us!!!! lol I'm just joking. I guess Oddworld is full of surprises, huh?
|
Thats a 3D version of the Story board clipping I saw, but I saw it from a different angle
|
:
Maybe Lorne just wanted us to be surprised when we see the V. return in SW. |
Mission accomplished.
It seems Stranger lives in Western Mudos, and not ”as Australia is to Nicaragua„ after all. This means there cannot be Vykkers far away - Vykkers Labs is a far-flung enterprise, remember, not that ‘Doc’ strikes me as working for VL. |
If I recall correctly even though he did say the Vykkers wouldnt be appearing in the game, he had alluded to the fact of some returning classic characters. Either way Im glad to see him in the game and it should raise some interesting questions in the plot. =)
|
Max where did you get the Western Mudos info?

You know Mr. Lanning may have not been lying, but misleading. He said that there would be only Fuzzle in the GAME. He didn't say anything about cut scences, or movie clips in the game. So there could also be muds in the cut scences or other familar creatures. He may have also said that the only familar creatures in the game are fuzzles meaning they are the only characters that you do alot of interacting with like slurgs (they are in AE but you don't do a great deal with them, exept in this game if there are any other familar creatures you would probley deal with them less or the same amount as slurgs).

That is taking things to the extreme. The game is the game. When I said Lorne was lying, I meant it more in jest than an accusation. I'm sure he just didn't want to spoil it for us.
Alcar... |
I am in concordance with Alcar, I didn't mean mislaeding in the sence he was trying to trick us but tell us the truth without giving too much away. I got an e-mail from Alf saying that there would be 1 more familar creature in the new game but didn't tell me what it was, I will post the e-mail later so stay tooned
to see it. I think were on track with the guess here about Stranger's doc |
Sorry about the double post but it was the only way to show that this thread had been updated, I attempted to update the thread by editing as seen above but that did not show it as updated, I will be posting Alf's e-mail as a EDIT so just cause it says nothing has changed look to see. Sorry again
|
Hmm nothing about triple posts.
Anyway here my letter from Alf, :
|
Flip floppy? Hey we tried.
That's some good work Odd trusting. |
Nothing personal about that it just we got 2 strong sides in this thread debating against if it was a Vykker or not. Nothing personal against any of you or the Oddworld forums
|
Interesting to know is that in the Australian Edge magazine there's a 6 page preview of Strangers Wrath.
|
Cool, is there anything new, that we don't already know?
|
Alf revealed that there is in fact one Vykker in the game, so that wraps this thread into a neat little package.
Sorry if I sounded sarcastic[\simpsons] |
Ha I knew it!
|
We all new it. And Lorne Lanning Lied, yes he didn't want to spoilet, but he not tell the truth.
Lets move on: The Otgiti Famly, We have seen then in the the studio cencept section, and they will definetly be in the game! |
only the Gloktigi...
here is a pic featuring him: http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...achmentid=1542 |
There's some pretty gnarly info about Octigi in the AoOW book. I'm working from memory but I think it says that the Octigi are an octopus-like creature that attacks a powerful person and takes control over there body, or something like that. The guy in the suit is an Octigi currently controlling someone.
I've no idea how they've worked that into a game. |
That's realy interesting NDW. The idea is great, so it's like possesion, Abe vs Ocgiti. This could mean something in SW.
|
Perhaps this will explain how Oddworld was influenced
:
|
OT that's really spam. It really doesn't contribute to the discussion, especially as its the second time you post it.
|
Small spam, small spam only. Well when I started this tread I didn't want to have strick follow in lines anyway after we got a pretty solid answer.
p.s. anyone who was wondering about the package and OI let me clarify. I ain't going to be part of OI if that was your guess (I said it was great but it wasn't that great) but anyway I still can't tell you whats in it |
If you know it is spam, whether small or large, you are already guilty. As for how we decide what type of spam there is, there is no distinction. Stop spamming, and stop impersonating.
As for the Gloktigi information, coolies. Perhaps they changed the designs / workings of the initial concept art we have. Alcar... |
The graphics of this screen shot look very sub-par compared to some of the other screenshots we've seen. It could have been an early on fill in character before they had completely developed the doctor character. I'm not really stating my opinion one way or the other. Could be a vyker, could not be. This screen shot definately leads to vykker, especially given the bone saw on the sign. I guess we'll all just have to wait untill January 26th and find out.
|
Hmmm, perhaps you haven't seen the recent images. A Vykker is clearly visible in the following images:

off topic anyone got any screenshots of the gloctigi or octigi in the game??
|
In the game, yes, but not in the realtime gameplay, which I think is what you mean.
The latest Xboxyde features make a mention of the Vykkers doc. It's for sure that this dude is in the game. http://xboxyde.com/news_1221_en.html |
gloctigi or octigi are obvious creature you see in the first Munch movie hanging from the Vykkers ceiling, I think. I wrote about it in one of my addition of my Unoffical Oddworld magizine. I remember that issue cause we all debated that it was either octigi or gloctigi
