Maybe Abe isn't possessing farts and bells, but more like moving them with his mind.

*drinks SoBe* Mmmmm, tatsy!

:

1. Why the hell are there trapdoors in Rupture Farms?!

I can answer that one.
I found this in the DearAlf archives for December 2003. Incidentaly, this question was asked by me.
:

3: Why do the makers of all the facilities in AO and AE put so many pitfalls and traps for their slav- ahem, employees to get killed in.

Alf: Well, if an employee is already injured or worse, it is much easier for them to "become one with the product" IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN WINK WINK.

Therfore, your answer.

Havoc 05-15-2004 04:19 AM

hehe, thank you :).

Fuzzel X 06-10-2004 10:53 AM

With Oddguy's idea about possesing farts and bells... I'm not really sure what Abe does, but I would have thought possesing a fart would have been very smelly if he possesed it like he would a Slig...

But how could Abe see where it was going if he just moved it with his mind?
He would need to become one with the fart to move it offscreen, wouldn't he?
With the bells, yeah, he'd have to move that with his mind...

Nate 06-10-2004 01:23 PM

heh. become one with the fart. now thats one you don't hear every day.

Havoc 06-11-2004 12:41 AM

*starts chanting* Become one.... with the fart...

ONE! With the fart!!!

EDIT (to prevent further spamming ;)): Ah c'mon Xavier, its not like flooded the topic or something...

Xavier 06-11-2004 02:44 AM

Nate_dog_woof and Havoc...

I know the last post are funny, but it's my job to ask you to stop the spam

thank you

Here's a question:
In Fuel Fields in MO, there are two Mudokons on platforms above a mine field.
Question is: How the heck did they get there?

Wil 06-21-2004 10:33 AM

Maybe they were meditating and ended up floating, then fell down and conveniently landed on the platforms. Maybe they were taking a walk, and got stuck on them. Maybe they were walking on the cliff above and slipped down.

I'd like to know why there's a floating bar of metal in the Loading Dock level of MO, or why there are 8 Vendos all lined up, in the same level, which no one except Munch can get to. Why would Vykkers put them there??

Sekto Springs 06-21-2004 10:35 AM

Yes, I hate that floating bar in The Loading Dock. The least they could've done was put in a support-beam, but there wasn't even that much. Vykkers Labs must be haunted.

ANN NEELY 06-21-2004 10:40 AM

In MO, why do Glukkons talk to themselves?

Sekto Springs 06-21-2004 10:43 AM

They're boasting to themselves (which is worse).

Nate 06-22-2004 01:29 PM

Is the name 'Scuba Toads' official or made up by forumers?

Oddsville 06-23-2004 07:43 AM

I belive its made up my us formers, we haven't really gotten too many official names as to the species of the river dwellers yet.

Wil 06-23-2004 08:46 AM

It comes from the title of the image featuring one in Exposé 2.

Sekto Springs 06-24-2004 06:13 AM

I still don't think it's official, I know Oddworld doesn't lack that much creativity.

ANN NEELY 06-24-2004 09:29 AM

In MO when you have a Glukkon donate to Lulu's Fund, why does the Moolah come out of his head?

Oddish 06-24-2004 09:41 AM

He Transporting his thuoghts into the Vendo, then turns to Moolah! Or it's to show that he's some how donateing smackers.

Xavier 06-24-2004 10:38 AM

it's simply to show the player that the glukkon gives moolah...
aaaah, the cartoon effect of MO

Nate 06-24-2004 01:34 PM

wait a minute. Is that a complement or an insult?

oddguy 06-24-2004 02:16 PM

Depends on whether or not Scuba Toads is an Official name. We shall see. :dodgy:

Havoc 06-25-2004 12:22 AM

Ok... in AE Alf is with Abe in the dessert. He is one of the five muds you need heal from brew before you take off to FeeCo. And now here is the glitch, when you let them help you activate the well, then just leave them there. Finnish the game as usual (and with usual I mean saving all muds, you cruel basterds :P), and in the ending movie! There he is! ALF!!! But I left him in Necrum! How the hell did he get back! How did he get out of a blown up necrum mine's!

Wil 06-25-2004 12:50 AM

I don't mind the Moolah coming out of the Glukks' heads. It just a way of representing his donation. I hear no one complaining of the numbers above Abe or Munch's heads, or the 'z's that traditional appear from sleeping inhabitants.

It's a compliment NDW: OWI have more creativity than coming up with the name 'scuba toads'.

EDIT: Oops, missed the next page.

I suppose, Havoc, you have to ask how Alf got from Necrum to SoulStorm Brewery even if you did rescue him. If you leave your five pals there, I'm sure they might try the well or bird portal themselves. Maybe some helper Mudokon or Shaman came along and aided them.

ANN NEELY 06-25-2004 02:47 PM

Is the plural of Steef Steefs or Steef?

Sekto Springs 06-25-2004 03:04 PM

:

I think it's just Steef either way. Like moose is moose, and fish is fish. Steefs doesn't sound correct, like mooses.

Nate 06-27-2004 01:47 PM

possibly Steeves, like 'life' and 'lives'

of course that makes him sound like a bloke who wears stone-washed denim and ugg boots, has a mullet and a girlfriend called Shazza

I do not like that game.

Nate 06-28-2004 01:35 PM

okay sligslinger this is happening way too often but I've got absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I was making fun of the bogan stereotype here in australia. what about you?

Ah, nevermind. I misenterpreted what you said.

steel scrab 08-06-2004 01:52 AM

dont know if this has been asked before and no time to use search but in MO the vykkers use sonar to track the captured critters on land. I thought sonar was what is used to track submarines underwater. shouldnt it be radar or some sort of echolocation as used by bats? I mean it doesnt affect the game ,I was just curious and its been bugging me a while.
thanks

Wil 08-06-2004 11:57 AM

Radar uses radio signals, which are emitted, bounce off things are their reflections are picked up and translated into some kind of image. Sonar is esentially the same, but uses sound. Echolocation is sonar, as bats use sound. Munch's SkullJack and the Vykkers also use sonar.

Although how they manage to track particular objects like snagged Fuzzles and critter cages is beyond my scientific understanding. But like you say, it doesn't matter for the purposes of the game.

Oddish 08-06-2004 12:07 PM

Don't traps have a "beep" sound?

Wil 08-06-2004 12:25 PM

True, but I don't see how that itself would help sonar. Maybe some kind of triangulating microphone equipment. It must be related to the Pods in some way, though, because it beeps faster as one approaches.

Aha, maybe the light and beep are merely discernable indicators that the trap is sending off a sonar of its own, which is picked up by the Pods. This would imply Munch's SkullJack can also detect these sounds.

Another trivial and pointless fanboy puzzle explained. :)

Incognito 08-20-2004 11:33 AM

Can anyone tell me what's going on in the attached pic? I wasn't sure whether to start a whole new thread over it, so I put it in here. Those little things around Munch I presume they are baby Gabbits? Who/what is that behind them? At first I thought it was the Raison but he has different eyes which glow. (And he has four eyes instead of the two seen in the pic.)

Wil 08-21-2004 06:18 AM

The image shows Munch ascending from a Mudokon stone henge place which clearly never made the final cut of MO, or else evolved into Storm Circles or Zap Henge. It looks like the hatched Gabbiwogs were going to be in Munch's Oddysee, though what this has to do with Mudokon mysticism I don't know. The figure residing over Munch is meant to be a Vykker, and I think we have official word on that from the Forums history.

T-nex 08-24-2004 10:38 AM

Wee! New qeustion:

How long will it take for Oddworld Inhabitants to get back to Abe's and Munch's games?

Xavier 08-24-2004 10:51 AM

easy one!

we don't know, probably not directly after the next game
nut there is no official word about that...

Wil 08-24-2004 10:51 AM

Hopefully it's what they'll work on after Stranger, but this quote lends to a different future:

:

We'll see the completion of Stranger and the start of a couple of more projects that utilize our latest technology and cast. We've built an incredible engine and we want to get more games out to our fans without them having to wait for two years. We'd like to release a game a year.

So apparently this year (the interviewer was asking what 2004 would bring, but that's obviously changed) we will see more games featuring Stranger. Hmmmm. But the game per year definitely sounds great, if at least a bit difficult to abide to.

T-nex 08-24-2004 11:00 AM

Thanx, but i think i saw someone post that they planned to make 3 more Stranger games, before returning to Abe...

caracal 08-24-2004 03:27 PM

what do we know about the quintologers?...are they all going to be as alike as abe and munch? I know that they both got a moon, and that they both were supposed to turn into flying creatures when dead (munch was gonna turn into insects)

but will the others have features like that?..do we even know how many moons OW has?
