Ah. Now I getcha. I think he means, the reason the Scrabs and Paramites aren't savaging the Mudokons in the Monsaic Sanctum is because they share some kind of mutual respect for eachother. Though, those Scrabs and Paramites would have to be mighty, mighty old (or have lived there their entire life) if they were to pace trust in any creature.
I'd speculate it's either because of a mutual respect, or because they are being kept there by mysterious forces *cue the spooky music* Alcar... |
or that they had never had a brush with the glukkons to make them distrustful. Which would be logical cos the monsaic lines/temple is a stronghold against the glukkons

No, what I'm saying is, that in normal circumstances, both scrabs and paramites are friendly to native muds. But the scrabs and paramites that are being farmed by glukkons are on uber-defensive-mode. The respect was always there, and was passed down from generation to generation. |
I think that indeed how it works. Cuz don't forget, In the days that Rupture farms was still active they extracted the creatures from the sacred grounds into the stockyards. And when wild scrabs hear the distress call of a mate in need... they get on full allert for anyone, even their own specie's. Since there only where Alpha Scrabs in AO en AE.
Most likely we will get to see more of the Mud and wildlive connection in further games, with RF down and out. |
I don’t think there is any mutual respect between Mudokons and Scrabs and Paramites. I think the latter two will normally hunt and consume a Mudokon, whether it’s been excited by the Magog Cartel or has lived a perfectly natural life, free from trauma. Having them act peacefully towards the Mudokons simply removes the element of savage danger that has always intrigued me about Oddworld: nature there is simply goshdarned harsh.
The Scrabs and Paramites in the Monsaic Sanctum, in my opinion, are either being controlled by the Mudokons’ psychic powers (maybe even possessed), or else have actually been tamed. |
look at the background (near the tower), the scrab doesn't seem to be very nice to the mudokons
|
I had that image in mind as I was typing my post, but since Death's theory is that it is the Scrabs under threat from the Magog Cartel who have become much more defensive, and hence aggressive, inciting Mudokon-attacking.
|
hmmm yeah... can be
we never saw a 100% free Scrab that's in contact with a mudokon, I suppose the Scrab will kill the mud though |

It was said there were big mudokon wars in the ancient time if I recall good.
Anyway, why are there wars between men? ;) |
cos men are stupid
|
lol the supreme argument!
much of things happen because they are stupid... same thing goes for evryone on Oddworld |
I don't think Mudokons themselves were specifically warlike. The History section from the old Oddworld.com describes as not warlike, but giving aid to others who were all too eager to take these tactics to battle.
