Dude. I never knew a compliment could make people so upset. I better be careful with how I hand them out. :D I gues one man's compliment is another man's insult.

One thing can be said that is true, there wasn't anything complimentary about Statikks' post.

It seems a certain few new users are making it their business to complain about the rules. So, in response to this, I would like to lay out a few propositions.
  • One word, two word, three word, and generally any posts that do not add content, opinions, or thoughts to a thread are not allowed. "Yes" or "no" answers are to be given in polls only.
  • Off-topic posts are not allowed.
  • Freedom of speech and expression of opinion is allowed, as long as it does not infringe the rights of others, or offend anybody deliberately.
  • Lying just isn't allowed. Tell the truth about yourself, or don't tell anyting at all.
  • Even though it's not against the rules, being silly is not suggestable. Try to have a humerous and semi-serious outlook toward the forum, but don't go too overboard.
  • If you have a complaint to make, or dislike something about the forum, post a new thread in the Forum Suggestions And Jelp forum, so that an administrator can attend to your complaint. This is much better than posting your complaint in several different threads.
  • We do not wish to know about how the other forums you frequent are run. If you have a suggestion to make about this forum, please do it in the Forum Suggestions And Help forum.

Most of this rule are already implemented on the forum, and lying just isnt allowed is a bit harsh isn't it? Its like going against the freedom of speech. I reckon you can lie what ever you want, but people have to believe it. So no not lying rule.

The last one is linked to shop hack, cause shop hack is implemented on other forums, and this kinda contracdicting itself with shop hack...

No big deal. You didn't know. :)

Bah! Let me have my opinion! :p

Simply, the rules are the rules, abide by them or leave. Or be forced to leave whether you disobey them. I'll probably end up doing a shorter list at the top of the rules, to sum it up. All the detailed information will remain at the bottom, so that when actions are taken, they are acceptable in accordance to our rules.

Also, about the "real man" comment. I think people took it a little too far with their opinions, oddguy was simply complimenting Death, I think the third or fourth opinion was pushing it, especially when the subject of this thread is not "Real Man - Cliche, or not?".

Quite. Well put Alcar. :)

Alcar 04-06-2004 11:03 PM

Okay, I have finished "shortening" the rules. There are now the Rules In Short and Rules In Full, to be found at: http://www.oddworldforums.net/rule.php?

Great!

I think you guys will now find that much fewer rules will be broken by unsuspecting newbies and in turn they won't get an

"Excuse me..but you're breaking rules here buddy"

post after 10 minutes logged on!

Resulting in more people staying for longer than three days and less people (like me *CB hangs head in shame* I HATE being wrong!) kicking off!

Basically because... people will be arsed to actually read them!!

Well done Alcar! xx

I came back a little later(Yeah, a whole less than 20 days after this thread was put up) and I'd just like to say that the "real man" thing had nothing at all to do with Death's manliness. I was just raising a point about the term.
In hindsight, though this thread isn't idiotic, it seems to be pointless. Yay, the rules are changed. That means everyone will follow them, right?

Codek 04-22-2004 09:24 AM

Wrong. The rules have NOT been changed. Now stop bitching in old threads, you're already making quite the little habit out of it.
