If not enough info is a mistake, at least it's a new mistake. Personally, I agree with PA on this. And if we hear just little bits of info, it makes it all the more fun to kick around and see what we could get.

:
"they want to surprise us" "they shouldn't tell us anything" "OW4 is going be amazeing" "knowing how much OWI is keeping a lot secret" Swhaa? You seriously do assume way to much and pass it off as fact... Of course I dont expect to get everything. personally, i was hoping for slightly more than we did get - especially as much of the press have seen a lot more than us... |
But amazinger then Halo 2, no not really, no.
Just no... |
....
If Halo 2 is just more military grunts popping off aliens in sub-par desinged environments, Then Stranger will own it. :)
"Why do you always assume so goddamned much?! "they want to surprise us" "they shouldn't tell us anything" "OW4 is going be amazeing" "knowing how much OWI is keeping a lot secret" Swhaa? You seriously do assume way to much and pass it off as fact..." In all fairness, these aren't so much assumptions as conclusions based on what Lorne has said about the problems with Munch's Oddysee. If anyone remembers, MO was going to be twice the game it turned out to be. Oddworld threw information all over the place about stuff that would be in the game, including the elusive Sea-rex. Lorne felt that after unloading all this information only to have most of it shaved off the final product, fans were turned off considerably, not to mention the X-box conversion. They just don't want to get our expectations too lofty, to where the magnificence of the final product doesn't have the impact it should. |
I'm happy with the rate of information release as it is. Oddworld Inahabitants has let us known enough to keep our interest, while maintaining a strict code of mystery.
What we are currently receiving is grand :fuzzle: Alcar... |
I agree with Alcar...they're actually giving us a good amount of info here. After all, we just recieved all those Outlaw cards...
|
Well I'm just trying to wait patiently for the game. Frankly, I feel that the less I know, the more amazing my first time through the game will be. So I'm happy with what we have.
|
On the site with all those cards there's a release date projection of "fall" I know that nothing's official until OI says, but I was wondering how this matched up with previous theories.
|
There was a picture of Oddworld Inhabitants with a note or poster saying "20 months" on the X-Factor program. Max the Mug concluded that since it was approximately dating from September of 2002, that 20 months onwards would be in the middle of 2004.
Alcar... |
I'm perfectly happy with the rate at which new info is being released, now that I've got settled down to it, that is. I never expect OWI to update their site with any big news, and every month I am amused by those who are all like, "I can feel we're going to get something big this update." I'm not sure exactly what they're basing that idea off, except that OWI had promised to give us some decent info by this time. But, weirdly enough, I'd rather they concentrate on the game and their myriad of media appearances than work overly hard on the website.
I think I prefer the subtle hints in Dear Alf and the Daily Deception Online (though patronising content could of course always be toned down :p) to a sudden information burst. And as Mac said (Oh sheet, guess what I just typed out), we've seen the cards they handed out at GDC, and I'll be uploading a report on the opening sequence soon enough. E3 is just around the corner, and we actually have a member of the Forums going there this year. Therefore, I thusly and henceforth conclude that things can, indeed, only get, as they say, better. |
wow
Glad to be back, I see there are lots of goodness to see and to read, and that downloadable pdf is just perfect! the new dear Alf is realy nice to read! |

I'm sure this has already been pointed out and/or realized, but we have a new species name: Slegs. I'm guessing that Slegs are those "warthog" things...the grey slogs w/ horns.
|
Yep, I spotted that, Mac (fupping hell, did it a-fupping-gen), though I didn't point it out here. Mind you, not did I point out that I'd uploaded the images. :p However, there is another new species mentioned.
It also mentions Meagly McGraw's son, Tiny. I suspect Tiny McGraw is the whopping great beast in the first image for the Stranger logo from Oddworld.com. If you remember, the one I joked looked just like Tiny Tiger from Crash Bandicoot. Ha, how I felt remorse for the creativity. It's also the second Tiny on Oddworld, the other being a Fuzzle - and neither of them are tiny. Original or what? Oh yeah, the other new species are Opples. What, plants are species. :p |
well now we've got slegs, to add to sligs and slogs. Can we expect slugs and slags soon?
|
We have Slurgs. Slegssligsslogsslurgs, heh. I wonder why 'Slegs, though.
|
We don't actually know what the sleg is but we guess it's the slog type creature.
Why do you think they put the 'e' in? Most of the time their creature names are directly related to their Earth counterpart, so what could it mean? |
:
|
Or perhaps a sleg is a direct cousin to the slig. Because it looks as if there is a lot of wierd simalarities between the inhabitants we seen to these new inhabitants as if they were like cousins. My point with the Clackerz and Mudokon simalarity. But even deeper there might be an even early hint made by Daily deception with that one Mudokon that looked like it had fur. This picture:
http://www.oddworld.com/images/news1_assets/mud2.jpg Heck it also looks like another type of Octigi is going to be in this proof from the polygon Magazine. In the background on one of the pages showed two pictures of other Octigi. 2.0 and that one huge one. If thats going to be in OW4 then perhaps a lot of the inhabitants we are going to encounter are direct hill billy cousins to the ones we already know of. Like a sleg is the sligs hill billy cousin. Or the Octigi 2.0 is a hillbilly cousin to the Glukkon. Who knows but its just something Ive noticed about this new game. But its also not a confirmation that this is fact eather. Paramiteabe... :fuzblink: |
I'm nearly sure slegs are the "warthogs" we saw in the X-Factor...
|
i wasn't that impressed with the updates this month
|
:
Somebody need a punishment for their actions...oh yes they do. Now go to your room and think about what you've done! Pffft...not impressed with updates. -oddguy :p |
*5 mins later, i come out of my room*
i am sorry for what i have said, but the cool pic of Glukkons with peanut heads was cool |

-oddguy :fuzcool: |
I think that it is a good way to keep people comming back keeping it so secret it is the right way to do it and they give us allot of information on the games.
|
Yeah, I think OWI did the right thing when they made this game so secretive. If you let all your info loose, expectations are set and if you don't deliver at par with those expectations...you become MO. Funny thing is...I liked MO. You see, I didn't have all the info you guys at the OWF did, because I hadn't joined OWF and was just an average-joe guy. I enjoyed MO.
Anywho, I can't wait 'till E3 when Abe Babe gets us some news. We're expected to know who's publishing, see the polished game engine, etc... Oh joy! -oddguy |
See this guy knows the crack. :fuzzle:
|
:
maybe even some great pictures and a release date... *dreams* |
:
Slegs are those Wartslogs, I bet. I doubt that thay're a type of slig, I mean...who would have a pet slig? And where is the peanut-headed glukkon pic? I can't find it. |
