well, like i say, i now agree that they are arboreal, but i was just curious how people seem to think they know so much from so few pics... like when someone said that sligs couldn't have their pants attatched to their spines because there are no wires in their tails, but there was no way for him/her [i can't remember who it was] to know that...

. Personally, though, I think they (sligs) look more like tree-dwellers; especially since their tails and tentacles are prehensile, which would make up for the fact that they only possess two limbs.
We have no evidence that sligs' tails are prehensile. We've never seen them using their tails to do anything.

I recognize that their tentacles are prehensile though, since flying sligs use them to pull levers.

One particular detail that anyone seemed to mention is that the video devices, where you can watch the newscaster show, is intended to be used by mudokons, in an attempt to keep them motivated to work, and to recieve distorted messages (like the many references to Abe as a terrorist mastermind, not a savior).

In other words, the newscaster slig knows that he is actually addressing mudokons, so if he wanted to, he could add subliminar messages without being perceived by the Glukkon censorship.

Thanks Lampion! Actually, this was something I had meant to mention. The News Slig KNOWS his audience, therefore his words and actions toward them are even MORE improtant.

Also,
I see we have some great views on aquatic vs. arboreal slig theories. Wow! I'd never even thought of what sligs' natural environment was...
Seems to me like they would be capable of both. Certainly they could survive in the water, but I can just see them in little tree nests, too!

These are some cool debates! Let me throw in a question for y'all (I'm curious):

--
Depending on which theory you hold to be true, what difficulties/advantages do you think sligs have fitting into their corporate environment today?
--

What do you think? I think sligs must miss being able to jump, if they had once been able to in the wild. Of course since they go from womb to work they may not have such a strong instinctual sadness as if they had themselves (individually) ever been wild.

PinkHaired,

I think the newscaster is funny too, but given the Inhabitants' love of humor, I think that would serve more as a PLUS to his being involved in further developement (and likely heroism)!

you raise an interesting point that i must admit i hadn't considered!! however, i have to stick with my initial impression of him - he's simply a smart-ass - not a defector.

i don't think he has any special affinity for muds... i think that when if it came down to it, he'd pick up a gun and mow down abe just like every other self respecting slig would.

be sure to post that url when you get your webpage up that outlines your reasoning! it'd be interesting...

I like that little article you made about Slig running, Teal. Very cute and informative.

*nods at Dragon-lady* Yeah, I thought I remembered seeing something like that too...

(Ta, Middlesboogie. ;) I think I had my biologists brain wired in that day...)

Why do they call a slig toast? Does he like buter or something?

Silversnow 10-20-2001 12:17 PM

Teal, I can't see your picture, too bad... Well, however... Does sligs use toilets? I mean, the newscaster said: ...And the toilets backing up all over the place. Am I right? Oh, the newscaster didn't say "am I right?".
