This new theme is awful.

I hope your newer version of the industrial theme is a bit more sophisticated than the last one, too.

Whoever came up with php could've made it a bit easier to modify aswell. I'd like to see IE and Netscape consolidate php coding to a new line of simpler but just as powerful tags in html. That should put twats like jelsoft and phpNuke out of business.

php is the bane of internet freedom. Simplify that, and open source will live on.

Edit: Peter, you always post the same time as me lately. You weren't even on OWF back in those days were you? Anyways, that header went with the last image Peter posted.

No, I wasn't. I just used a special machine to take me way back so I could get the images ;)

An old attachments URL had dead? I don't find it .

We no longer need to use the /forums subdirectory :) As well as that, attachments are now referenced by attachmentid=xxxxxx because vB3 now allows more than one attachment per post.

Well do you want to tell us what you didn't like about it, so that we can take your criticisms into account.

Most people liked the industrial theme. Sure it ain't highly polished professional web graphics ... but we're an Oddworld site ... so it's Odd.

Abe Babe...

I was just asking if you could make it more sophisticated. The previous industrial skin was quite basic. It was mainly a dark color theme, with one or two graphics taken from oddworld, plus some you clearly made yourself.

I'm not criticizing what you have done, I'm suggesting what you could do. Perhaps some smooth, dark, antialiased lines. Maybe a sort of "pod like" design around each table frame.

Nothing outrageously complex, just a little more slick than the last one, that's all.

Facsimile 01-25-2004 11:25 PM

Okay here goes.
I don't like it.
It's very different and shiny.
There are too many new things.
Everyone has a new avatar.
How long has this been back up.
Alcar did this go wrong because you were talking to me.
Can I go back to VB 2?
Please??????

Wil 01-26-2004 07:49 AM

Facs, you can go back to ezBoard if you really want.

Oh no wait, Alcar shut that down because he's a miserable wretch.

Adder 01-27-2004 11:15 AM

Oh, it's not so bad.

...well, at least it's quicker.

...although I had to update 2 pages of my web-site just to make the link valid
...and it is a little weird.

Esus 01-27-2004 11:39 AM

Theres a re-direct to it now, so nobody should have to change links...

Is it just me or is the Name, avatar, # of posts etc along the top of the post instead of on the left?

Adder 01-27-2004 11:54 AM

...it's just you, I think.

Mine looks the norm, info at the side. Sometimes when loading the info will seem to be where the post should be, but it eventual moves to the side every time.
Is this another of those "new" options?

Wil 01-28-2004 08:38 AM

Yeah, Alcar mentioned it before, possibly in this thread, but I can't be arsed to check. All that information together is called the post bit, and there should be an option in your CP options that changes in between the left and the top. I can't figure out which is meant to be the default, though, but my post bit leapt above each post when the option was enabled. Should be a simple change.

Esus 01-29-2004 09:30 AM

Hmm, ok. For me it looks like this: (see attach)
and I dont believe I altered any settings... but ya never know.

Wil 01-29-2004 11:10 AM

Yep, your postbit's been moved to the top, just as happened with me. You can change it easily in your CP.

Codek 01-29-2004 01:43 PM

It's because he's using the honeybee theme instead of the default theme.

oddguy 01-29-2004 01:49 PM

I just tested your theory, Death and changed to honeybee to see if the info moved to top instead of the side, but it stayed the same for me.

-oddguy :fuzcool:

Codek 01-29-2004 01:52 PM

I thought that was what it was but I now realise that it isnt. As max said it's something in the user CP. An option you need to toggle or something.

Go figure.

T-nex 02-06-2004 06:47 AM

But what happened to the Native and Industrial themeS????? I liked those better...

Wil 02-07-2004 07:32 AM

vB3 apparently doesn't allow direct ports of themes from vB2. The Industrial theme has to be completely reconstructed, as does the Native theme, which will also be getting an improved look.

You just have to be patient. Abe Babe is an eternally busy woman. Much to all our constant frustration. ;)

T-nex 02-08-2004 01:26 AM

OOHH! I understand!! YAY! :) :) :)
