That would work, but each month a new one is made, so someone would have to set it up as a rule.

I know this may be a pointless request, but could we possibly up the Avatar size slightly. Maybe 70x70 or at most 90x90. Its just a thought for the near future, because it would be much easier when creating custom ones.:fuzwink: :p

MU-HA-HA-HA-HAAA!

:

Taken from the above rules The image itself must not exceed 35 kilobytes (35480 bytes).
It should be 35840 (or 1024X35), not 35480. I guess this was just a slip of the finger, but still it's better than the last time!

...and after all, I'm one of the people who drew attention to the origional error of 35000!

Majic 10-13-2003 06:40 PM

O, indeed... That last 360 bytes makes all the difference in the world;)

The problem with that, is that not only will the table sizes expand, but an increase in download time will must be endured.

Ah yes, a slip of my finger. I've fixed it in the version on my hard drive.

That is a major difference, my internet connection is limited to 3000mb. Which is 3 gig, but if you use 1024 as the correct calculations i would have like 50 mb more...

I support the idea of larger avatars. Yay! *points to her current one*

As long as the width is set to be no wider than the left column's set width, then it should be fine. My current one is almost 100px wide, and there is still some room without expanding the table. But it depends if it would annoy people with slower connections.

Maybe I'll talk w/ Alcar and we'll put a poll up to see if people want them or not.

Then I could make my ULTIMATE avatar *dun dun duhhh!*

Adder 11-06-2003 05:30 PM

I'd rather another line of two of text in sig's with and without images. My av took a while to be finnished and I'd rather not re-size it!

Cloverfield 11-07-2003 10:53 AM

I was also thinking that a while back, but never really got around to doing anything about it. I've had over the text limit on my sig for a while now (haha, benefits of being Admin) ... and it really doesn't cause any problems with how posts look. I think the main thing we want to achieve by having limits is so that people don't have wallpaper sized images or text/images that consist of a small essay (I have seen such on other forums).

I agree, we should have a poll to see if people want bigger avatars. I know it will take longer to download, but it can be a large problem when trying to make custom avatars, and losing most of the detail in them when resizing.

Lucipher 02-08-2004 01:15 AM

Larger avatars are a good idea as some lose detail and end up looking stupid :fuzblink:

[Note to Abe Babe/Alcar]

Sorry about moving this, it just seems a bit dead, but more appropriately suited to FS&F anyways. Move it back if you'd like.

EDIT: Looks like it needs sticky'd again. My powers are of no affect in here. Bah.

I wouldn't mind Avatars/Banners with more bytes. I prefer having "simple" animated avatars, but no matter how "simple" I seem to make them they're always too big. The newbies should really do their lil' parusal through the rules that's required...I can recognise those who don't read the rules. Some of the new-comers' posts have lately been atleast 40% SPAM, I think newbs should make a habit of reading the rules until memorised if necessary. :fuzzle:
