In the regards also with what max said about the footage possibly not being in the final game, I should also add.

The reason they say on the site that some of these initial concepts might not end up in the final game is because this footage is a bit out of date.

What I forgot to put up in that conversation a few of us had with alf last week was that he said the footage, concepts, etc. shown in the discovery channel documentary are from last september. Also that they will not be showing anything else for the next several months. Most likely until the game is released.

Still I'll enjoy the program none the less.

Now that seems a bit silly. Obviously there's got to be at least a couple of weeks, preferably a month so that news of the game can get around a bit. OWI are being a bit reclusive right now, and with good reason, so it's very nice of them to take part in this Discovery Channel program. However, how do they expect to hype up the game if they don't present anything until the very last second. Talk about mysteries, people won't even know what to expect.

I think I exaggerated that a bit in saying several months. Alf stated though they will probably not release anything for the next few months of summer, anything new that is. So I would guess an update in August or september on the games progress, but like I said theres not a complete guarantee with what they are going to do about this game in media coverage. I have to give them credit they have been very good at keeping things secret over there at OWI.

I'm very upset because although I have the Discovery Channel, I have the European version, which will not be showing this particular episode of On The Inside. Or indeed any episode of On The Inside. I'd like to actually search the european site, but some gimp forgot to actually put a search option on there. I'll just have to listen to what everybody has to say about it, as usual.

Max, (as Im doing for PA, Alcar, and Xav) I'd me more than happy to record it for ya's. Just tell me if you'd like a tape of it...:fuzsmile:

I wouldnt worry too much about not seeing it. I know I will be taping it being it has both OW4 and Halo 2 in this program.

Although Im sure the clip of OW4 will make its way onto the net soon after. So those of you who dont have DC, Or dont get the program, there are many people taping the show, ex. Oddsville, myself, so someone can send it that way. Or someone here could convert it to WMF, or QT also. But my point is Im sure the footage will somehow become available on the net, whether its the whole show or excerpts.

This should be pretty cool, but I doubt we'll see anything in-game or even in-engine from the next game. From what Al said, it seems like we might just see a few FMV's we haven't seen and some small details concerning characters and story. The footage is almost a year old appearently, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. I will definitely watch the special; it's still very possible we'll see something incredible.

I personally believe they should do an FMV that has nothing to do with the gameplay or story itself, maybe some vague referrences to the story, but thats it. And that FMV can be unlocked with some sort of 'all FMV' cheat thats implemented in the final version of the game.

I, too, thought that screenshot of the last Halo level was Abe. And if Xavier is mistaken and it is Abe the next story may take place when AO takes place and the actual character is some kind of Bounty Hunter looking for Abe.

It's kinda weird that the character has Tranq darts in its hat, not the fact they're there, just that they're Tranqs (well, look like that anyway).

So yeh, i think they should have some special FMV's just for the trailers and such. When i was into designing games and i had one in mind, for the E3 thing i had thought it would be better for one of the actual characters (who was Lucifer) to introduce it and talk about it whilst he showed screens and shtuffs...yeh...my game would have soooo kicked bootaaaay....

Dose anyone know why whenever I start downloading the movie it gets about a quarter done then just stops? Cause I dont know!? Xav, someone please help?

Don't bother, the part with OW4 footage is literally four seconds long. The screens that have been posted is exactly what's shown. Don't take my word for it, you decide.

well actually this is my favorite Halo level and I played it very often...
and this bridge is totally halo architecture.

WOW that is some great footage! I would have replied to this sooner but I was working. All I have to say is that I am deeply impressed with those screen shots. If thats what the gameplay is going to be like then OW4 will be one impressive game let me tell ya in comparison with MO. If thats the gameplay then I was right about eventually playing Oddworld in film style. That is some really impressive stuff. Yep this is exciting times to be an Oddworld fan!:D

Perhaps but I do remember a while back Lanning said something about the new game haveing instead of transperencies in the game play enviorments like MO did it will be more film like. OWI is working with an exciting new style of game developement for what I have read thus far. This game is going to be more epic in scale than what Munch was. That was all said by Lorne himself around the time when they started building OW4. He said were working with really exciting things like solid objects in gameplay in otherwords you have a tree in your enviorment that will be solid not fake and transparent like what we saw in MO.


All I know is that OW4 will be and this a fact more film like and epic in scale. Thats what I am going by.

I think its gameplay. I haven't seen the actual thing but the graphics dont look too special and i'm sure if it was an FMV they would have done better...

If that was actual gameplay, it would have the best graphics a game has ever had. I highly doubt it was in-game or in-engine.

I'd most likely say it was a movie, it doesn't look like a gameplay area.

I've finally got it to work! Yes, thats right, I beat the system! But unfortuately (like most of you said) it was just a few seconds long....guess we'll just have to wait till the 20th.:fuzsmile:

All I can say is that the footage looks awesome, and I hope that the hunter is the new playable character. Remember that old concept of the guy with a rifle and a shell on his head... might be an early version of this new poucher thing. Xav, could you post the picture I mentioned?

This was one of my first posts here (I think) and I'm glad people are enjoying this new footage. I had this forum bookmarked to see if I could find new info on the next Oddworld, but it seems I'm the one bringing in the new Oddworld News.. :)

My handle as many of you have seen is G-Xis (Pronounced Gee Sis, or Jesus.) :D

I'm pretty well known on the TeamXbox.com Forums and IGN.COM Xbox Boards, and I hope to be well known (and liked) on this fine board.

I like many of you, am a Oddworld Fan (Ever since I played the original on the Playstation), and I'm just as excited about the new upcoming footage of the next ODDWORLD title. I'm sure it'll blow us all away. :D

Hopefully I'll be able to scour the internet for bootleg footage of the Discovery Channel Special for those that won't be able to watch the show., (Finding rare media is one of my specialities.. :) )

ps: maybe this should be changed to a thread that posts any newfound OW4 stuff, cause it had a good start and now max has posted something as well, i know this probly isnt a good idea but from what i see around (like the discovery channel and clip) there is a small outburst in OWI info, so maybe people should post anything here if they come across anything.
