Two Legs seems the more popular option - Glukkons, Sligs, Kintos, Slogs, Elums...

Note on Queen Sam: I don't see the Slug in her, I always thought she looked like she was based on a Termite Queen.

Also on Sea Rexes: Anyone see the big Carnivorous Whales on Walking with Beasts...?

Oh yeah Rettick, I saw that. I personally think the SeaRex looks like a member of the Pleaseasaur family.

Monkey-Man2000 12-15-2001 09:43 PM

Hey Max the Mug you forgot Mudflubs.

Danny 12-16-2001 12:28 AM

Looks more like a Pliosaur to me, Oddsville, but then we've only seen one small picture of it, so who am I to judge?

I always thought that the Meech had a back like a prawn. You know when prawns are frozon and the body is curled up thats where I got the idea from.

Wil 12-16-2001 12:13 PM

No, I didn't forget Mudflubs. I considered what was known about them, and realised there wasn't much to say on them. So I left them out, as I did with Gloctigi, Khanzumerz, Smeetles and Krikits.

I'd really like to compile a complete essay of Oddworld's take on Earth, from the obvious comical but subliminal dislike of slavery, animal cruelty and corporate-wickedness, down to the hilarious postcards and cheesy American holiday-selling conman. But, well, being a young lad of fourteen, I've a tight schedule, made worse by the pedantic plights of work-urging parental bodies, embarrasing scholarly adventures and a whole labyrinth of conscious worries, aches, troubles and concerns.

Then again, I've just started three-weeks holiday.

Appreciativly,
Max Muggledarner

Danny 12-16-2001 03:21 PM

What the hell are Smeetles and Krikkits?

Oddsville 12-16-2001 05:26 PM

Smeetles sound like a whole new kind of evolution for the Meetle. By the way Max, where do you find out all this stuff.

Alcar 12-16-2001 06:11 PM

Wow you have shown me alot of new creatures, the ones that you didn't clarify were the ones i don't know about.

Could you clarify these please, Gloctigi, Khanzumerz, Smeetles and Krikits

Wil 12-16-2001 06:14 PM

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure about Smeetles. I first heard it from Xavier here (like so many things), and he (I rather wickedly assume) apparently got it from that Flamish Gamepower TV program. Although, I have no idea about this program (primarily because I wasn't lucky enough to be one of the two people who viewed it), I suppose it would be possible, in a number of ways, that that was meant to be Meetle, not Smeetle. Nontheless, my job requires me to be ever-persistent, and this is a fine example.

Krikits are those green cockroaches you see over Oddworld. At least you used to see them - I believe there were a couple of the Forums' old banner, and there were plenty on the old Munch's Oddysee logo - which I have saved to my hard drive! Or at least I thought I had, but I've just checked.

Supremely (you're boosting my confidence),
Max Muggledarner

Xavier 12-16-2001 06:32 PM

you should write a ensiclopedy about Oddworld!
and put it on a site !

Oh yeah it wasn't Smeetles, but the mosquito like insects, (big mistaque , sorry)

:(

Oh well. That's one thing I can knock off. Anyway, to answer Alcar (and probably a few others), I'll explain about the Octigi and Khanzumerz.

The Octigi Family is a group of species to which the Glukkons and Gloctigi belong. There are two other members, but there is no public name for them - they're referred to simply as 0.1 and 0.2. Yeah, crummy, I know.

Anyway, the Gloctigi is the largest of the family, from memory I'd guess twice as tall as a Glukkon, maybe more. How do I describe it? By doing this - (edit later).

There is an interresting likeness between 0.1 and a Slig, which has led many to suspect that Glukkons and Sligs are quite closely related, actually.

0.2 is rumoured to be a species which forms an Oddworld Mafia.

Right, Khanzumerz are the most important creatures on Oddworld - they're the consumers, the elite, the tourists, the VIPs and honoured guests - they're the main purchasers of Glukkon and Vykkers goods.

Now that I've spent so much time on this, there'll probably be three new messages that completely ruin this one.

Finger-sleepingly,
Max Muggledarner

Danny 12-16-2001 07:36 PM

I know I've asked this before, but how exactly do the Khanzumerz get their money? Is it just interest on their already fabulous wealth? Is it [can't think of another alternative offhand]?

Oddsville 12-16-2001 10:04 PM

And heres a nice pic of the Octagi family if anyone wants to see...

oddguy 999 12-16-2001 11:25 PM

Is Octagi 0.2 standing on his legs or arms? (considering that Glukons to stand on their arms)

So far most of these creatures are just concepts right? I mean they can't be considered *real* characters until they appear in a game. I'm just saying this because I hope the idea of a race of "Khanzumerz" is dropped. Wishfull thinking...

Steve 12-17-2001 01:09 AM

with 0.2 mabey in one of the games you could say raise money to hire them to take out someplace they might be nuetral charecters with a tendancy twords violence.

oddite4456 12-17-2001 01:12 AM

I think Fuzzles came from dryer lint.

Wil 12-17-2001 12:45 PM

I think we can assume 'concept characters' are 'real'. Even if they do not make it to the actual game, they'll always be in Oddworld's spirit - well, for me at least.

As an interest, the number of species we know about on Oddworld is 31. The number of 'real creatures' by your definition is only 20.

And for all of you, here's that Powerpoint Presentation I promised y'all.

I do have an apology to offer - Krikits are actually Skrikits. I told you I was getting forgetful. So that's Skrikits, okay, not Krikits.

Xavier 12-17-2001 03:50 PM

Yeah, Oddipus showed it allredy, but no images :(

thanx for all that sweet info max

Eibu 12-17-2001 06:18 PM

Well speaking from a writer/creator standpoint sometimes I develop ideas and stories with certain details in mind and then later go back to see them in a different light and wish I never created them at all and thus strike them from the final "product". Basically I don't want anybody to consider those "ideas" or "mistakes" as apart of the final story as it might affect peoples perception of the overall atmosphere.

I'm sure Inhabitants have blurted out hundreds of ideas and doodled hundreds of creatures.

So anyhoo that's my way of thinking...like I said I none of those concepts bother me EXCEPT 'Khanzumerz' even if Oddworld is REALLY that Odd...

Danny 12-17-2001 06:55 PM

I learned to cope with Khanzumerz by seeing them as the "Aristocrats" of Oddworld, who are practically made of money, and live purely off the toil of others, never getting off their fat arses to do anything, only consuming...

Oddsville 12-17-2001 07:21 PM

Hey, I can't get Max's download thing to work.

Where do u get all of this info!!!

angry slig 12-18-2001 06:52 PM

:

"Ive noticed that every character/creature in oddworld is based on somethin, example:
Mudokon=human Glukkon=human=octupuss head"
Mudokons are in no way human glukkons. The word Mudokon is made of Russian words. Mudo in Russian means idiot or klutz, on just means a person.

Molluck2000 12-19-2001 01:38 AM

Spacebat conrad! do you speak russian too? well i do!!! by the way if you dont spacebat conrad means thank you my fiend!
