Actually, both birds and lizards evolved from a common ancestor that had some bird qualities and some lizard qualities. You can't really call the ancestor (be it a dinosaur or another creature) a lizard or a bird
No, you thinking of 'If humans evolved from apes, why are there still apes?'. Birds evolved from lizards, in particular, dinosaurs. True, between being dinosaurs and being proper birds they would not be classified as either (although I'm sure some nit-picky scientists will try to do that), but those un-classifiable creatures evolved from lizards.

Aw, common guys haven't you seen that one video of the Mud head talking?
No, but I know the one you mean.

:

Yes Max, mudokons have teeth. I'm a bit shocked you didn't already know that.
Thank the Great Mother Odd I have you guys. :D

Interesting, neither lizards nor birds have teeth. :S

TheKhanzumer 10-22-2002 09:33 PM

lizards have teeth

Wow, I get to correct Max twice in the same topic!

Lizards do have teeth. I have never heard of a lizard without teeth. Iguanas have teeth, gila monsters have teeth, chameleons have teeth, komodo dragons have teeth...

You are correct in saying that birds (to the best of my knowledge) don't have teeth.

Xavier 11-03-2002 04:08 PM

M.O.M 11-03-2002 04:09 PM

BigBro 11-04-2002 11:04 PM

:lol:Yeh, WWW respect Monkeys as a religion. :p

Anyway, I think we're all thinking of an Archaeopteryx when we say Lizard-Bird. Heres something quoted from a book:

Every bird we see came from the first birds, which lived 150 million years ago. The birds first back boned ancestors were fish. From fish came amphibians and reptiles. This group also gave rise to the crocodiles and dinosaurs. The first known bird looked rather like a reptile. Archaeopteryx was a prehistoric bird with teeth, a long, bony tail, and claws on its wings.

This probably doesnt clear much up but I felt it was necessary. :p

i see what you mean
