I'm sorry, all the "they were created!" and "beaten into submission and brainwashed" type stuff just seems stupid. For one, do you even know what the interns feet used to look like? Maybe they had hoofs or something, and it didn't work well on metal. Stiched up mouths doesn't seem like much. All this "Vykkers are all sadistic" stuff doesn't really sound logical to shutup all of their workers. Maybe it had to do with them like killing themselves, or uncontrolable eating habbits*burps*

How'd they get working together? Either they did scientific work together and the Interns moved on over to smaller stuff (laziness). Or there were a few helpers needed around to save the Vykkers times, I mean, they don't really have the greater hands. And it wouldn't be good if half the scientists were always on guard duty. Interns may have wanted a social ride up or something, or maybe just wanted an easy job where they get some shelter/food etc... in return.

Nate_dog_woof is right: Interns and Vykkers come from trees. Oddworld states on the XBOX official site:
"The Glukkons and Sligs came from the swamps. The Glukkons descended from octopus-like creatures while Sligs descended from a slug-like species. The Vykkers come from species that once lived in trees; they still have a tendency to try to live in the air. The Interns are a subservient race to the Vykkers. They are a bit dimwitted but make good assistants. "
Note: The Interns are a subservient race to the Vykkers. So they are sort of speciffically designed to serve Vykkers

No, Interns have their mouths sewn up because they have a very irritating tendancy to whistle while they work. Also they aren't given drugs, they pilfer them from drugs cabinets.

And I'd always thought that Interns were once aquatic. They have those huge hands that look like oars or fins. Granted, they don't exactly look built for the water, but then neither do Gabbits or snakes.

Drogo 10-12-2002 06:45 PM

Well what OWI says is what we get...:fuzconf:

:

The Interns are a subservient race to the Vykkers
Meaning they are servants to the Vykkers. Which we know.

If Interns were capable of swimming in water wouldn't they have webbed hands? Instead they just have these spindly things, which, are much like that thing that lives in the trees and has a long spindly finger. Although their head is canoe like...which possibly allows for it to pass through the water alot easier.

2 discutions about Interns, wow,
people make sure to look at this too:

Wil 10-13-2002 07:21 AM

Yeah, I was thinking of their fingers earlier. I don't think they'd need webbed hands to swim (our hands aren't particularly webbed), although it certainly would help. Besides, I would think that webbed hands would slow the Interns down in their modern lifestyle, so the Vykkers could remove the webs or do some genetic alterations.

Similar thing with the missing feet.

Xavier 10-13-2002 07:37 AM

excelent point Max, I was thinking something like that too.
and it will explant why, after all the modifications, they can't swim anymore

Drogo 10-13-2002 11:09 AM

Fine, so the Interns are/could be/could have been/will be aquatic. What else can we say about them? How would their voice sound like without their mouths tied up? What do they listen to their cr@py headphones? Isn't it weird that they all live together, in a community but don't talk to themselves? Don't they fell they're life is dull?

Wil 10-13-2002 11:53 AM

Nah, who needs to socialize when you got punk rock and designer drugs? Besides, I bet they have enough fun criticising other species - just look at how they react to Lulu.

Xavier 10-13-2002 12:29 PM

just wondering... what are thos antenas for?

paramiteabe 10-13-2002 04:18 PM

Could somehow the Vykkers and The Interns be the same race? Both of them look very similar to each other.

Could it be that a long time ago in the past all Vykkers were Interns but something happend among them that made some of them evolve into Vykkers and some not? Like some of the Interns grew smarter than others and they began to follow their own path into the skies to learn more about their world where as others stayed behind and remained as Interns. Maybe the Intern is the early version of the Vykker? Who knows.

Xavier 10-13-2002 05:01 PM

no, I see no relations betweel them!
the head isn't the same
then number of legs and arms aren't the same
they don't look the same, simply no

They're form their headphones

Xavier 10-13-2002 06:05 PM

no, those ones

Majic 10-13-2002 06:49 PM

Horns? If they were aquatic, I'd think sharp pointy things would make a good weapon.

About the once webbed feet thing. Don't they have long fingers? That fits perfectly, the web is just missing.

PA, the Interns and Vykkers look othing alike. Interns are tall, lanky, and have massively top heavy heads. Vykers have like twice as many arms and legs, have heads and egos bigger than their huge buldging tummies. I mean, sure, they both have eyes, and mouths, and arms and legs, and niether has pink dots all over their bums, but they look nothing alike...

paramiteabe 10-13-2002 07:37 PM

Heh I guess it is just me who sees sort of a resemblence. I guess not.

TheKhanzumer 10-13-2002 09:44 PM

interns

I think the intern antena are for smelling or something. Or maybe that is how they pick up radio signals for their walkmans. :fuzwink:

Oddsville 10-13-2002 11:19 PM

I think Interns anntennas are for some type of sensory and nothign more. Prehaps thier able to detect heat or movement? But I seriously doubt thier used as wepons, they look to weak.

Xavier 10-14-2002 02:42 AM

I think it's more something like a sensor organ... but it can move when te show expression (when one see munch and the fuzzles free)

can it be for communication?

BigBro 10-14-2002 06:17 AM

Thats exactly what I thought when you first asked the question Xav. Maybe they do use them for communication seeming as they cant verbally communicate to each other. I know they may have had them before their mouths were stiched up but they may have been used for something else before they began to work for the Vykkers. Maybe some kind of long range communication while they were swinging through the trees?

Xavier 10-14-2002 03:02 PM

I'm pretty they ise it for communication but that it isn't the first use of it

Mojo 10-15-2002 12:27 PM

How about those antennae ARE used for communicating.

Interns used to whistle, right? Maybe they whistled to communicate, and the antennae picked up the sounds, or soundwaves, so that they could hear extremely low sounds, and extremely high, on top of the fact they already have ears??? Cuz the headphones look like they are covering their ears, or earholes???

mudflub2 10-19-2002 05:24 AM

RIGHT :D

Xavier 10-19-2002 08:47 AM

Interns have ears...
so you think the antennas where devlopped after they being industrialised?
I don't think so

M.O.M 10-20-2002 07:23 AM

this might of already have been said but Why Do They Wear Speedo Swimming Trunks ????????????????????????????

Wil 10-20-2002 08:43 AM

Why do people wear hoodies when sweatshirts will do? Why wear a shawl when there's nothing wrong with a scarf. It's fashion, that's all. Plus they'd get embarrased if they didn't wear anything around their groin.

Mojo 10-25-2002 02:24 PM

:

Interns have ears...
I didn't said thay hadn't...

I meant that the normal sounds can be heared though the erars, like we do, and the ultra high sounds made through whistling are 'heard' through the antennae

Xavier 10-25-2002 04:34 PM

hmmm can be....but I'm not sure about that
