Since it looks like the glukkon species was inspired form the termite family structure, one would guess that Maggie is based off a termite queen.

The termite queen lays eggs that have no reproductive organs for her whole life, but one egg is special. When the queen realises her death is near, she creates a unique egg which contains the queen to generate the generations of workers for generations to come.

So we can conclude that Maggie might probably do the same thing.

Wil 01-10-2006 02:05 PM

Not particularly. Maybe in the second, as it's after Molluck is beaten by Abe that she enters the story.

Nate 01-10-2006 02:15 PM

I think that much of the current glukkon culture is based on the present generation growing up under Maggie's autocratic and self-serving rule. Killing her off would change the whole dynamic of the series, so I don't think she will die any time soon. At least not until she whoops Molluck's bony arse.

Dave 01-11-2006 07:46 PM

What if ... and this might just be a big what if ...
But what if the whole "Is Maggie gonna die?!?!" question was answered already?
I'm talkin about in MO. At the end. She's on life support.
If the glukkons don't **** it up, we can probably assume she can survive that way as long as neccesasry, doing her queen thing with or without new lungs. Or she'll probably survive on life support at LEAST long enough to get her hands on another gabbit.

Alternate theory (that would be unlikely to ever happen):
The glukkons strike a deal with the gabbits.
Glukkons: "giv us wan pare of teh lungz + we stop teh hunting fer teh gabbitz!!!11/!!~"
Gabbits: "hmm we dono we am scarde to do taht but if joo will rly stp tehn ok we give joo only wan pare!!!!"
But it seems unlikely. Especially the choice of dialogue.

Hah!
Do they really sound like that to you?

Anyway, I agree with you (not on this trade/deal thing).
I think that Maggie will survive for a much longer period of time and will, just before she starts to die, get her hands on a pair of some Gabbit Lungs.

Nate 01-11-2006 08:57 PM

Or perhaps some other species will be found with appropriate lungs. Or, alternatively, they may just be taken out of a dead Glukkon like human transplants. It's an easy fix, narrative-wise.

monkeybait 01-27-2006 07:06 PM

A lot of things could happen

God, people.. have you ever considered that they will use some other creature's lung(like nate said)? And if that, for some reason, doesnt work... They can make an artificial lung... or if THAT doesnt work, they can keep her on life support (like many have said) long enough to either give birth to a female glukkon (like used:) said) or (like dave said) get her hands on atleast ONE pair of gabit lungs!

Nate 01-27-2006 07:14 PM

God, mokeybait... have you ever considered reading the entire thread before posting? I mean, just read my post one up from yours and dave's a couple more.

Idiot.

monkeybait 01-27-2006 07:31 PM

I am not an idiot for saying my opinion of what I think will happen...

Yes but you are for stating the already stated in a way. Don't you think someone would look stupid if they blabbered, "a penny saved is a penny earned"?

monkeybait 01-28-2006 08:32 AM

...Just as many have... :|

Nate 01-28-2006 12:31 PM

It wasn't that you stated what had been said previously. It was the way you said it; as if we were idiots for not thinking of what you were saying (which wasn't exactly original, in any case).

Fuzzle Guy 01-31-2006 11:18 AM

If I['m going by the first time I played MO, then Maggie is alive. I gave her my lungs :p.

There is nothing to suggest that she NEEDs Gabbit lungs, it's just that their lungs have a less stronger chance of being damaged.

HobbitNinj 01-31-2006 11:27 AM

hmmm... I wonder why exactly Gabbit lungs are perfect for glukkons in the 1st place. Besides, how would a new glukkon or even a gabbit lung work for someone so big? It would be to small to work.

Nate 01-31-2006 04:46 PM

Don't forget that most of a Glukk's 'body' is made up of his legs under a suit. Their actual core is quite small.

You mean, aside from the fact that she has lung cancer and is on life support?

Xavier 02-01-2006 02:56 AM

indeed the size would be perfect:
http://www.oddworlduniverse.com/togg...O/CAAO0006.jpg

On the other hand Maggie is a bit bigger ;)

Even if I suppose they could use some other creature's lung, the ones of the Gabbits might be more compatible with the Glukkon anatomy, and cause less rejects.

Just try to put any annimal lungs in a human body, you'll see it won't work :p

Nate 02-01-2006 09:45 AM

You can put pig heart-valves in humans though.

Maggie may be bigger than normal glukks, but it's probable the Vykkers would still treat her the same as they wouldn't have much knowledge and experience to do with treating a Queen. It's also possible that her vital organs are the same as a drone and the extra body mass is all to do with reproduction.

Xavier 02-01-2006 10:21 AM

yep I totally agree with you

for that pig heart-valves that's what I meant, you can perhaps put those pig-heart valves in the human body, but I doubt you can put a... (random guess) ...dog's pancreas.

OANST 02-01-2006 11:00 AM

Of course you can put a dog's pancreas in the human body. The person would most likely die soon after but I'm sure you could get it in there. :)

Which is why no-one is suggesting putting a Slog's lungs in Maggie. Gabbit lungs have been found to be a particularly replacement, just like pig valves.
