You all underestimate the power of a Moderator!

Alcar...

Moderators can not ban people (Well not you anyway), and what do you mean all the secret profile stuff? There is no secret profile stuff everyone's profile can be seen by everybody else. Anyone can make an announcement Alcar.

Majic 08-09-2002 02:20 AM

Surfacing, how do you know if Alcar can't ban people if no ones been banned since hes become a mod? Secret stuff as in sometimes people have emails that are shut off from regular forumers. Announcments as in the one in GD. Silly boy, you.

Moderators can ban people.

By the secret stuff i mean your email, sometimes people choose for emails not to be shown to public, but Mods can still see it.

Not anyone can make an announcement, im talking about the thing you see in General Discussion at the very top, where it says "Announcement".

There are more like I said, though.

Despite what Alcar wants you to believe, Moderators are pitifully weak when compared to Administrators.

The original poster has been taken care of.

Surfacing, this topic has remained open because some valid discussion has popped up. Of course, we still get the morons who continue to moan on about the original post, but information such as perceived mod/admin powers is amusing enough to stop me from closing it.

I know that Moderators are pitifully weak compared to Administrators! :D

Admins have all those nice forum wide options...plus lots more. :)

Opps sorry for moaning on about it, in my previous post. But i would like to hear from the horse's mouth can mod's ban people?

brewmaster 08-09-2002 08:48 AM

hey I are Slog how long did it take you to type all that out.

Sl'askia 08-09-2002 09:13 AM

Sorry brewmaster, I-Are-A-Slog won't be able to answer 'cause he has been banned.

I don't know what you 'think' you are Alcar ;), but Mods can't ban people. Delete, Close/Open, Stick/Unstick, edit topics and posts, view IPs (though only through the 'Who's Online' part that I know of) and that's all I can think of at the moment....its early...its Friday...my brain aint awake yet...*faints*

Spider: Sheesh...she gets enough sleep every night...*pokes her*

Edit: Oh!

Spider: *jumps*

We can move topics as well. *faints again*

Spider: *has head stuck in the ceiling**muffled* Um...some help here....

molluck2 08-09-2002 09:20 AM

sorry for my curiousity, but Alcar what does that ROK thing means (the one under your name) it says: ROK:help mod, what does it mean?

Alcar 08-09-2002 10:28 AM

Moderators as far as I know can ban people, although I haven't tried it, so I can't be sure.

But if the option is enable then you can ban people from the Moderator's Control Panel.

Moderators can view all the members 'secret-extra' information you just have to know how to, again this is from hte Moderators Control Panel.

Then again Admins can do anything...*scary music* :D

Like I said, some Mods can and some can't.

I dont think I have the power to ban people, but then im sure maybe other mods do.

Alcar...

quetzalcoatl 08-09-2002 02:12 PM

When did you get a mod anyway Alcar?
When I first saw you at the forum, you weren't a mod, but I'm sure you're glad to be one.

Exactly what i have been wondering. I found it quite rude when Alcar merely ignored this and carried along being all mod...ish. So, Alcar, are you going to tell or not?

A rok is a type of bird.

One, Two, Middlesboogie 08-09-2002 03:54 PM

I thought that was a Roc.

Eh... Same difference.

Al the Vykker 08-09-2002 04:27 PM

I think that has to be my all time pet pieve "Same Difference".

Its Same thing. Oh well, people can say it the way they want to. I cant take that away.

'Same difference' is more fun to use because it's oxymoronic.

I also once wondered who or what Rok was. It took a lot of squeazing to make Alcar spill the beans, and the answer was an anti-climax to say the least, considering how guarded he was of the truth. I wouldn't expect Alcar to tell you.

Also, moderators can't ban. If they can, it's news to me.

I did see that, I must just have remembered not to reply to that particular question.

Well here's the beans, im not telling you.

Sydney, finally I can rest at ease knowing I can't ban people. :D
Like I said a few times, I only thought moderators could. There is the option to allow it.

And god...this topic has gone on for ages...
