yea im with you on the formaldahyde idea.
|
Thats because they are in formaldahyde (or at least the Oddworld equivalent to it). The Vykkers constantly love to flaunt their captures and the animals that they have experimented on without being torn to shreads. Infact thouse containers where just a few of many in the corridor. The Vykkers use alot of these corpses to study the anatomy of a creature before the disect it or mutate its chemistry.
|
Yes Oddsville that is most likely the case. One thing that i see happening is progress. correct me if im wrong but from what i can see Glukkons dont care at all what they do to a species race. they would drive them to extinction and not care at all. But i see the Vykkers doing the opposite. the specimens in the chambers look as they are not only going to be used as expirements but maybe also to clone. To replenish a species. not for the sake of it, but more so for there profit.:fuzconf:
|
Yeah, I agree with you on the profit part. Vykkers only really seem to 'care' about animals is because of how much they could possibly be worth.
|
in the movie the vikers thought the lack of gabbits was funny just as much as the glukkons did. (there were vikers in the auction too) i dont think they care about the creatures enough to try and bring them back, i think they would just find somethine else to "improve".
|
sorry... but no formaldahyde.
can't you read? what is just above the door? FREEZER sorry to ruins your theories |
I don't think they thought it was funny forsay, heres a quote from Irwin "Thats the last damn Gabbit there is! Its lungs are worth a fourtion!" that shows that Irwin wanted to keep him for money. In the early plot to Munch's Oddysee, Humphery and Irwin where going to keep Munch for several days trying to find a cure for Maggie. I don't know what was wrong with her that they would need to find a cure but anyways, Irwin and Huphrey kept saying that they had almost found the cure for Maggie when they really weren't even trying, just watching the Moola role in from there pay to find the cure in the first place.
Edit- Very good Xavier, I alway considered it formaldihyde. Oh, well.:fuzwink: |
Yes oddsville is right. so you see the vykkers do care about profit enough that they would clone creatures for there own needs.
BTW Xavier man, i didnt see that, im must still be asleep from the drag racing last night. very good. |
well the reason cryogenics doesnt work is that ice crystals are jagged little buggers and when a body beging to freeze it lowers to sed freezing temperature and then ice crystals form. when an ice crystal forms it takes a crystaline shape (which we understand has jagged shards) as the ice and moisture collect into pockets the crystals grow and the flesh is pushed aside. soon the flesh is torn asunder. that is why frostbite can make you have to amputate, because the flesh is dead and it could start to rot. youve heard of freezer burn right?
if you really really still want to go with the cryogenic freezing idea we can go down this road. currently there is one type of fish (in iceland??) that is the size of a quarter in length. it produces an oil naturally that prevents ice crystals from forming. it is coated in this secretin and can sucessfully be frozen and unfrozen as many times as you want and as long as you want (within the lifespan of a fish). this is an "induced hybernation" as opposed to cryogenic freezing. this would mean that they could preserve the animals fora little while in ice but what would the point be. we dont use the oil for much because of how little you could get. one quart would take a couple thousand fish and who would harvest them all. currently there are not other types of fish that can be "adapted" to secrete this oil. ice would be a be a way to preserve the dead flesh but live animals is a much more painstaking task. and water is cheaper than formaldahyde i believe. just my thoughts |
ho guys how can you miss that?
I can't believe it so all the creatures may maybe be still alive, intresting |
Souled Out , you amaze me. That is very good. and yes that is very possible. In regards to the hibernation we see the same thing in insects manly because they have a Exoskeleton, but that does not prevent them from freezing to death so in return they freeze themselve into a state of suspended animation. and now you mention a fish doing something very similar. that is very impressive.in regards to the cloning just because a creature is frozen in stead of being in a sanitation secrement it does not mean that DNA is wasted. so yes the Vykkers can still use the bodies for cloning. however there is a time period in wich the DNA if not kept cold and safe can be lost
BTW Souled Out you just might make a name for yourself dont you think guys. very Good. |
to clone you need more than DNA I think.
no? it would be a bit to simple to regenerate a race only with only DNA |
Oh im sorry i should have been more specific. While cloning you will need these things 1) DNA 2) a host to implant DNA into to produce specimen. the host usually has a similar leniege to the specimen3) and of course you need to fill in the DNA code. to do this you need to take a code from another specie. the reason why you fill in the gaps is because the code is lost over time.
so usually whatever you do the clone will have some sort of mutation in the DNA because the gaps had to be filled. This is only if much time has past. |

I think there was a point to introduce them as it shows how evil RuptureFarms was:fuzvamp: :fuzcool: . I also think there are some meeches left hiding where no industrious person would go(then again sligs just break in any holy land eg monsaic lines). |
well yeah it make sence.
just to show what the industrie had done: killing a whole race of creatures |
I'm sure if there are Meeches left, there would be not only no industrial forces around but no native Mudokons or anything, becuase they seem to think Meeches are extinct as well.
Which makes we wonder if it would make a good aditional story-ette to have the Meech Weirdo in Abe's Exoddus be upset that there are no Meeches left. I think not, but it could have been interesting at least. |
the only thing I can say is that 1 of the 3 weirdos allways look a bid bad maybe that's why
|
The one that's slumped on the ground, cross-legged? True, but I figure that one the be the Paramite-guy.
|
bigger image:
http://www.oddworld-fr.com/banque_images/0167.jpg so the guy sitting is the paramite one I think it's the meeche one |
:
BTW, nice pic. |
I think the 2 who stand are the Scarb and Paramite
but yeah nothing is sure. BTW: thanx, I got a poster of it in my room |
I think that I remember reading (but I might not have) that some meech's may still exist in some underground caves in Necrum.:fuzconf:
|
well in each non visited place there can be still left some meeches, no one knows.
In fact I don't want to see meeches again in the quintology, but I want to see them in a other oddworld game |
On your pic Xavier. What is that critter that looks like a seehorse with legs?
Yeah, I think Meeches exist. That would explain why the rummors of squeek are existing. I think Meeches are water animals. From judging by the picture of the Meech, in the beginning of AO, there head look like a hammer shark. And there pink to. Bright colors (example, pink) is a warning to other animals saying that there poisonous. So they might be a poisonous sharklike critter. But in that case Squeek probebly wont be a meech, sence Munch is already a water critter. But still, five heros means some's bound to be the same. Edit: No whait. He dosent look like he can swim. |
I think that Squeek will be a completely new creature that we've never seen(or a kinto slave).:fuzwink:
|

Besides, you can't use the advertisement posters to judge appearences - the Scrab one is bright green, for odd's sake... |
that thing in water?
no no no http://www.oddworldian.net/creatures/meech01.jpg here is the pic Danny talked about |
yoopy i am back!
people in case you've didn't notice i've made a poll here,so please vote!o.k?:fuzemb: ____________________ new and improved soulstorm brew...twice the flavor... twice the bones...twice the price! our spew is your brew! |
you have allready 15 votes, that's pretty much for a poll in the general discution.
