Lucky bastard. Jolt has been outlawed in Tennessee. :dodgy: Damn the FDA, damn them! :stare:

Luke....you're kidding, right? outlawed? why?

Sadly, I am not kidding. You won't find a drop of Jolt in this state. Something about "too much stimulation". Another one of those cases when a kid gets too wired and then takes asprin, killing himself in the process... Oi! The stupid people in this country.

I don't mean to sound preachy but I don't consume any of those poisons, except coffee on occasion, and I don't think anyone else should. I simply can't comprehend what is so fabulous about getting addicted to a harmful substance. I once heard about a guy who choked on a bottle cap he had tried to swallow while he was drunk.

Jacob 06-08-2002 08:01 PM

Not to be offensive but people mainly drink because;

(1) - Its fun.

(2) - It makes you less geeky.

(3) - It boosts ur confidence.

(4) - It makes u socialise more.

(5) - It makes you dance.

I for one will not let anyone say anything against alcohol. Mainly because the people who slag it off are the geeks who dont drink it.

(Again...no offense.)

Danny 06-08-2002 08:02 PM

My dear Khanzumer (sorry, I don't know your name), I am not addicted to anything. People don't drink alcohol and coffee and smoke cannabis to get addicted. They take them for the effects, not the side-effects (not that Cannabis has any, but that's another issue). They drink Coffee for energy, they drink Alcohol and smoke Cannabis to relax and feel good. None of the three substances do any real harm to you in moderation.

Tobacco I do agree with you on, but only because it's Evil, and has no effects except to counteract the effects of Nicotine Withdrawal...

EDIT:

That's sad. You don't need alcohol to have a good time. It helps, but isn't necessary. But even then, it's not the alcohol that's fun, it's the company. I mean, when was the last time you had fun drinking alone?

:

(2) - It makes you less geeky.
Quite frankly, if you're a geek, then drinking isn't going to change that. And if you're not a geek, then you've nothing to worry about. Either way, Alcohol doesn't make you less geeky...

:

(3) - It boosts ur confidence.
No problems there.

:

(4) - It makes u socialise more.
I don't find that. Maybe if I was shy, alcohol might make me more sociable, but I'm not, so that would just be an effect of more confidence...

:

(5) - It makes you dance.
Badly.

So really, only number (3) was right, in my opinion...

You misunderstood me...if you read my post correctly i believe you would notice i said "Its fun" i never said "Drinking it is fun" no. What i meant was that if you get time to know Al Kohol (Who is this Spanish man *Nervous laughter*) Then you will realise it is fun.

Hanging around with Al Kohol does make you less geeky as he is a very kool person and your social status will boost beyond comprehension.

He does make you socialise more as he involves you in conversation.

True...

I believe i have made my point. (And my future as a well known Lawyer is slowly coming within reach.)

MojoMan220 06-08-2002 11:04 PM

Drugs and alcohal are bad mojo in my dictionary, but that's just me.

I'm only 14 for God's sake! Not many people my age do drugs and drink alcohal, although one of my friends just got arrested, and expeled from school for the possession of some type of drug. He's now in juvi.

Jacob 06-09-2002 12:10 AM

Not that i want to spoil your illusions of 14 yr olds not being interested in drink and/or drugs but i know 12 yr olds who are drinking.

I know kids younger then myself do drugs and drink, I'm just saying that not many people in my school are aware of who's drinking and doing drugs and who's not, it's much more hidden when you're only in junior high.

Jacob 06-09-2002 12:29 AM

Yeh...where you come from.

dark_xinos 06-09-2002 07:01 PM

1. Coffe.
----------
Sometimes, like when someone is invited an mom askes if I want any...

2. Milk.
----------
Im so happy there is such.

3. Dust
----------
Cant help it.

4. Chips and other fried things that give you canser
----------
Rarely. Very.

5. As for drugs.
----------
I feel sorry for those poor peale who started that bad habbit.
I once saw a documentray on drugs, in school. And in some south contry, parents were giving marijana (spelled in sweedish, or english if it is spelled the same....) to there kids, who were like 6 years old! Yuck!!

You know what is quite fun? Anying a friend that smokes or takes this icky goop, and stuff it under there lips ("snus", in sweedish).
...He gets quite annoyed, as he pathicly says that the risks are minimum! :)

Danny 06-09-2002 07:06 PM

Erik, what exactly is wrong with Marijuana being given to 6-year-olds, then?

Disgruntled Intern 06-09-2002 08:27 PM

while there are definitely some drugs I don't 'approve' of, I doubt I could pass judgement on anyone who used them...I think that's wrong....Maybe it's because I've done quite a bit of tampering with some of the more 'heavy' drugs, and did find many of the effects to be quite appealing...but I was never tempted to do any drug other than marijuanna and alcohol more than a couple of times....where the hell am I even going with this? My ears hurt.

and Mojo..where exactly are you from? I mean, to be perfectly honest, the first time I smoked a 'joint' was in the sixth grade, with an old friend Kevin. We had thought we stumbled across some home rolled cigarettes...heh.
Anyway, perhaps it's the town that I'm in...but here, pretty much everyone makes it known when and what they use...as far as drugs go, I mean...And, most people have the same mentality of 'Jacob', in that they feel that drugs/alcohol will boost their social status and such....Kind of makes me wish I wasn't considered a 'dealer'..I have to turn down all kinds of people...I'm probably the only 'dealer' in town with a slight screening process for my customers. :/

MojoMan220 06-09-2002 09:25 PM

I'm from New Hampshire and smoking and/ or drinking does not make someone popular. I play a lot of sports, so I don't want smoking or drinking messing me up when I play basketball or something. My father smokes and my mother drinks. I don't want to get into the habits my mother and father have. I know a few people who smoke in my school and I don't think any more or less of them. I don't know where you guys are from, but it seems that your in a group where a lot of people smoke and drink together or your in high school where more people smoke and drink in public. Most people I know either don't smoke or it is hidden. I guess it is just my school. Sixth grade is pretty young to get high.

Joe the Intern 06-10-2002 12:01 AM

Jacob, Mojo didn't do anything to you. Leave him alone. I don't think drinking is great either, seeing as how too much of it can give you cirrhosis. People can make friends without drinking alcohol.

Actually, I heard that scientists conducted a test where they took a group of people, and had only a few of them drink wine. After about two weeks, they gave them all a check out and found that the people who drank the wine had no major differences than the people who didn't drink the wine... Can any one clarify this? I may be wrong, but I do remember a teacher telling this to a class once.

Basically, my school is a bastard. You dont have to drink but you have to be popular not to. Not many people in yr 10/11 drink and boast. Unless its the Townies who will call someone a geek if they dont drink alcohol (Anyone dare mention me being a Townie and i'll kill 'em!!) But basically its one of those things were if your the age of 16+ and you haven't tasted alcohol you are a bit of a loser.

Oh and Joe, i wasn't having a go at him. Ugh, please...it would of been obvious if i was.

Joe the Intern 06-10-2002 08:23 PM

Jacob, it looked painfully obvious to me that you were having a go at him. Saying something like "You don't have many friends, do you?" is pretty insulting.

Jacob 06-10-2002 09:02 PM

Yeh, there's insulting and then there's having a go.

If i were to have a go i would of gone something along the lines of...hmmmm..."Get a life you sad sodding twat, you haven't even tasted alcohol before so try before you slag off you prejudiced twat(!)"

But i merely said what you stated. Which is tame (Specially for someone as tactless as moi)

First off, I have tasted alcohol before, but if a person starts drinking regularly just to fit in or stay popular then that person sounds more like a loser to me. I make my own decisions; I don't want to be a mindless person who always does what he's told. If you’re a fun person to be around then nobody will care if you drink or not. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cloverfield 06-11-2002 05:22 AM

I know this probably sounds really lame, but I have a cup of coffee a day (sometimes two), usually one in the morning to wake me up. I do also drink, but only on a social basis, and have only actually got "drunk" once in my life (as a result of drinking beer and wine). But I can also hold my alcohol really well, so there have been times where if I were someone else I would have probably been drunk, but due to how I handle it, I've only been what could be termed as "merry".

I also tend to agree with MojoMan, that you don't have to drink to be popular. Sure some people do that, and that's their decision to make. But I personally would never do anything in order to impress or become popular. I'm a strong believer in doing what you feel comfortable with and not following the crowd just because it's the "in" thing. I'm like that with whatever I do. Being 27, most people like me would not play games, I do. I don't care about fashion, I just wear what I want. I drink socially only because I decided to, no one forced me or asked me to. Also I never want to be popular anyway, it's not one of my needs, I'm happy with who I am and my life is getting better in it's own way. I also would prefer people to like me for who I am, rather than having to change myself to be accepted. If people can't accept that, it's their loss, and they are probably not the kinds of people I'd want to be associated with anyway.
