I thought Jango Fett spoke with a New Zealand accent. The actor was Maori, not Hispanic.

That was a New Zealand accent? Well, it was more English than most English accents in American movies... :D

Anyway, my gripe still stands - why does Boba have an American accent?

Maybe he was brought up in a different part of the galaxy? Or maybe the casting director got lazy? ;)

Maybe it's just me, but New Zealanders come across as having really unique accents. They're easier to spot than American actors. From memory, the Jango actor was in Once Were Warriors...but I can't really remember.

I think everybody in the film save the art department got lazy. George Lucas openly admits to believing that cinema died when talkies were introduced...a bit of a crock when some of the greatest films ever made have relied on dialogue and delivery. And if he willingly accepts that he's a bad scriptwriter, why not hire somebody to do a good job with the money he farted into R&D for digital camera technology? What a waste.
