Luther isn't God. He is intitled to screw up, to err is to be human you know. And I wasn't familiar with those quotes, but we could take your religious/role model/leaderss and decimate them.

I'm relieved to know you weren't aware of Martin Luther's other sides. He also believed Satan lived in a lake atop of a moutain in Switzerland by the way, and claimed to have seen a regular-looking child born not of human parents but of the devil. Luther didn't just err - he encouraged sin.

Sorry that I am coming in a bit late in the discussion but I only read it today and decided to put in my two cents worth:

Preists aren't allowed to have sex bcos there was some Pope in the 16th century who had a whole lot of illegitimate children running around and giving him problems, so he made the rule that catholic priests should be celibate.

It doesnt' actually have any commandments in the bible against paedophilia but as you can't have sex with anyone you to whom you aren't married, I think this would stop you (unless you are married to an 8 year old). < I'm basing this on the old Testament as I know nothing about the new one as I'm Jewish>

Also Rabbis can have sex and do - a lot! The average number of kids among rabbis that I know is over 5 (more than twice the national average). One of the major differenced between Christianity and Judaism is their opinions on sex. Christianity sees sex as a necessary evil whilst Judaism sees it as an important part of the relationship between a husband and a wife. In fact, if you have sex on the Sabbath it is counted as a double good deed!

Enough with the random info. I'm not a catholic, an I strongly disagree with many of catholic dogmas, one of them being the celibacy of its priests. This positioning tends to lead people to view sex as a sinful and dirty behavior. It should be a choice (although I can't see why anyone would choose that), rather than an obligation.

While keeping in the christian discussion, I'd like to hear from you any opinions, informations, or links to studies regarding the concept of the Antichrist, and his relationship with the number 666, the suposedly number of the beast. Thanks in advance.
