I have another 'What is it?' picture, but I scanned it in from a magazine, and it's terrible quality. It's a small image on a computer screen in the OWI Studios.

Having said that, I did try to get it in this topic before - when I posted "Hang on..." But I couldn't get it to work. However, I'm trying again.

I personally think it's a Skeeter.

Post-Script: It's poorer than I remember it. Maybe it's because it's only 2cm2 on page.

Jacob 04-14-2002 02:56 PM

Max...not to piss on your parade here but thats actually a Meetle.

Xavier 04-14-2002 03:24 PM

well it looks like a meetle but I don't think it is.
realy hard to say OWI have still a lot of secrets for us.

Wil 04-20-2002 08:31 AM

No, I've already considered it being a Meetle. While I agree that it does appear to have four eyes and a familiar white shell, there's an aweful lot of it that doesn't conform to anything we've seen before. Like the three golf-club leg-like things protruding from the bottom, the exhaust pipe and smoke coming from the rear of the creature, and the three-pronged helicopter blades at the top of the creature.

However, I wouldn't be a person to jump up and down furiously and throw destructive objects at the OWI Studios if it did turn out to be a Meetle. It's just that from what I can tell it's something different.

Jacob 04-20-2002 11:32 AM

Max...the 'Helicopter Blades' are actually the seat were the Mud sits. And the Golfclub things on the bottom are leg protector thingies. And what smoke?

Wil 04-20-2002 01:00 PM

Okay, I tried scanning in a better picture, but scanners just make poor-quality images. I tried getting way back from the screen to see if that made the imge any clearer, but still the best image I got was in the magazine.

In it (I've checked) you can see (well, I can see, I can't scan it well enough for you to see) the thing much more clearly.

Okay, at the top of the creature is a spike, not a propeller as I thought, and certainly not a seat. The big black thing on top of the white block is in fact purple and blue, and connects to what appears to be a metal mask at the front of the creature. This blows away that this could be a normal Meetle, because this thing's body is way too small.

I really doubt those are leg armour, because Meetles have more than three legs, and they're not that long. And the smoke could almost be confused for a fourth 'leg' if it weren't pouring out of an exhaust pipe.

Anyway, i doubt this is going to be settled easily. I seem to be the only one with a good copy of the picture. If anyone else out there has Issue 2 of XBM, you'll find this thing on page 43.

There are more than three legs in the image. I can see one more, aswell as that I guess some will be hidden by the angle we see the creature at.

Sorry, I also think this is a meetle!

By the way, weren't meetles the ones where if you fed them meat, they'd turn to this and this, and if you fed them whatever else, they'd turn to that...? Hmm... I'm getting my OW critters mixed up.

Max, yep, this isn't a meetle...
There is one thing to do to know it.
Waiting :(

Most likely these designs were cut from MO, but I think they will be either in Munch's Exoddus, Or Squeek's Oddysee. But only time will tell.

Xavier 06-16-2002 08:40 AM

Max...
I think I just found a picture with the same creature...
look on the left monitor

http://www.totalgames.net/system/ima...67932_9397.jpg

But I can't still say what it is

BTW: nice T-shirt

Wil 06-16-2002 01:15 PM

Yep, that's exactly the picture I got it from. I just scanned in that small picture on the screen, because the rest of it wasn't really important for the topic.

Xavier 06-16-2002 06:19 PM

oh... it's the same image. :(
I tought I found an other source so we could compare.
well it doesn't matter

Kaimana 06-27-2002 07:12 AM

Oddsville 06-27-2002 12:36 PM

It was probably some type of wildlife creature born and raised as an Industrial guard, like..... a Scrab at Rupture Farms with armor?:fuzblink:

Xavier 06-27-2002 03:30 PM

hard to believe, but it can be

Kaimana 07-01-2002 08:34 PM

One thing i did take to my attention was that if that shell on his head is part of his body that may point to the fact that it is indeed a Mollusck wich may point to a lineage of the Octigi.if you look at the eyes it really looks like it is a Octigi.:fuzconf:

Xavier 07-02-2002 04:18 AM

http://oddworldforums.net/oddworldia...res/octigi.jpg

yessssss.

It can be the octigi 0.1

Kaimana 07-03-2002 03:14 AM

If any thing i think the Octigi thats resembles it the most would have to be 0.1 like you said xavier.

there is lots of concept art that doesnt make it into games. most of the time its crap so we never see any of it. sometimes they have an idea that is just not used. this could be an early version of something old or something entirely new that was never used.

Xavier 07-03-2002 08:27 AM

OWI don't like to trow away ideas...
so we will maybe see "something like that" in an other game o=f OWI.
