People who live in rich areas will learn how to use money to get stuff they want and weaken.

Kids who have low self esteem will learn how to blend in seeminglessly with the surroundings...making them go un-noticable.

Its like social status at school...were we get divided by who we are.

Brain Geeks - Vast knowledge of most things, most likely in Science and Maths. Most wear glass' No social life.
Brain/Sarky Geeks - Geeks, yet with wit...they possess all normal attributes of a normal Brain Geek however they dont have glass' and put down their fellows with hilarious clever insults.
Geeks - Lowest of the low...they possess no wit nor intelligence...they just have no social life apart from with their fellow simpletons...
Drifters - Not exactly popular, though not un-popular either. They know most people through people. They can hang around with most status of people...although they tend to stay away from Geeks.
Townies - Arseholes...no wit, no brain, no self image...no nothing. They are strong though...and pride themselves of been able to smoke without coughing. They are the scum.
Nogs - Evolved versions of Townies...these are the scumiest of the scum...disgusting. Possess all 'Qualities' of a Townie...just alot harder.
Trendies (Males) - Known throughout the school. They are gorgeous and most have had homosexual experiences with one another. Rich, good clothes, good quality of life...dont even notice the low.
Trendies (Females) - Known throughout the school. They are gorgeous and most have had interactions with the male of their status. Rich, good clothes, good quality of life. Notice the low...total bitches.
Bitches - Bitch about people...thats all. You get them in every status...

These are some from my school...they have all split them selfs off. Some have switched groups since the beginning...some have not. Anyone got any more good examples such as this one?

Atrophy is an adaptation (the bigger primates lost their tails because they started to live in the ground, so the strong tail feature was not decisive and necessary). Other example: once strengthness was not needed anymore, since humans developed tools, that feature was not decisive and necessary, so the weaker humans could survive and spread their genes to their descendents. throughtout the ages, strong and weak humans survived, and the STRONG feautre was dissolved in an average weak species.

Once aquatic animals developed a way to absorve oxigen from the air, they could get out of water and undevelop their aquatic organs, because they were not necessary. Since natural selection stops to act on a particular feature, it tends to dissolve among the countinuous and random mutations through the ages.

No, it's not an adaptation, because it does not confer any particular advantage to those who experience it.

I read somewhere that physical attractiveness has an evolutionary benefit, as it often indicates a healthy person. If this is correct, then physically ugly people have a higher predisposition towards medical problems. Therefore, if attractive people produce offspring among each other and unattractive people do likewise, then over time the unnattractive part of the population will degenerate into cesspitts of disease, until eventually they die off.

Hey, I wonder if it might actually be the other way round - I wonder if maybe we're genetically programmed to find people with a high chance of survival attractive... Except for Birds of Paradise, of course...

Ok, Danny, we seem to disagree on that and I don't know what else to say to defend my point.... I just don't consider only the good adaptations as a mechanism of evolution. I consider evolution any change that makes the species different from their ancestors. Besides, I'm not so sure that the changes in humans fisiology I cited above dind't bring any advantage to us.

On the subject of atractiveness, I saw a TV show talking about a study tah was made to determine which patterns of physical beauty was universal and which ones were cultural. The study concluded, among other things, that:

1. No matter what culture it is, the most attractive persons were those who had a higher level of simetry between their left and right sides (maybe uncounscioulsy humans think that the more simetric individuals are more perfect, therefore more likely to survive (?) )

2. No matter what culture it is, men with more developed "masculine" features were more atractive (again, women uncouscioulsy think that their offsrpings will be stronger).

3. Women with bigger illiac bones (which causes women to develop big "butts" and thin abdomens) were more atractive than women with smaller ones, probably because women with bigger illiac bones can easily bare children.

The study concluded that, despite all the cultural patterns of beauty, thater are still several mechanisms that are acting in humans subconsciuosness to define attractiveness, and those mechanisms were developed throughout the thousands of generations, via natural selection.

However if it happened slowly technology would help...and we may also adapt. Okay, put it this way. Evolution changes species by selecting those individuals that are most likely to be able to pass on their genes, and in this way, species change slowly over time, yes? Therefore, if a mutation does not make certain individuals more likely to pass on their genes than others, then it does not count as Evolution.

What you're describing here is natural selection, a mechanism that promotes evolution on species, but it is not evolution itself.

You're right, Jacob, that were not my theories, although I found them really reasonable. Anyway, your arguments were not good enough to refute them. When I said "masculine" features I meant wide shoulders, strong chins, things like that, bones structures, as Danny said (thanks for that). About the "big butts", sorry for that too. :)
