Because if we didn't this place would be way out of hand! And tending to let things go a couple of times tends to lead to it happening more.
Anyway, that's what off-topic is for. I don't tell people off for going off subject in that forum. We try to keep the off-topic stuff in that forum and the Oddworld related discussion in this forum, that's all.
Also, if you go off-topic and it's related, then that's cool, but just to start having arguments (even if friendly arguments) can get annoying. Especially when someone goes to a topic to read about the subject and it's full of other stuff. And these posts are considered spam posts.
