you must know if this is rts or not |
I have a feeling I just missed something massive. Anyone want to clue me in or show me where I can watch this?

hopefully once gameplay shots emerge everything will be a lot clearer. |
For now all i have to say is the character design is AMAZING and the teaser's certainly something else, very creepy, very eerie
|
@Xavier or @FA, please edit the first post and place the video there. Also, please edit the thread title, so people know what it's about |
Everything looks great. Well done Alex, and OWI.

Color me very intrigued... I love the twist of starting with so many Muds instead of freeing them along the way.
I am a bit disappointed that our boys Fripik Phlegg and Aslik won't be in tho |
Holy hell, that was awesome. A few of the design choices puzzled me a bit, and I'm still hoping we get gameplay footage, but overall I'm pretty friggin' excited. My scattered thoughts on the matter:
Lorne looked kinda nervous, although to be honest I don't blame him at all. If you put me in front of a big crowd and told me to talk about my life's passion, I'd be pretty damn nervous myself. Once he got to the Q&A and more one-on-one talk, though, you could really see him light up. I love the mudokons have more unique faces/builds, since that was something that always bothered me in the originals (although given that they were all mass-hatched workers, I could sort of rationalize it in-world). Alf's face seemed a bit weird, and I'm wondering where his fez went, but Toby is adorable and I want to hug and protect him forever. Still waiting to see Ed lol. Post-lightning Molluck looks badass, and I'm loving the "mark of Cain" theme-ness going on there. It's like nature itself just rose up and bitch-slapped him. I am gonna miss the three amigos, though. Dripik, Aslik, and Phleg were fun characters, although these new guys seem like they'll be worthy successors. The new gluk designs in general are terrifying and disgusting and I love them. Excited to see more of the vykkers later, hopefully. The cinematics looked amazing, definitely film-quality, although like I said I'm hoping we see real gameplay here soon. I'm also glad you don't have to kill sligs, since they're pretty much slaves themselves. Maybe some will even start to stand with the mudokons eventually, although I doubt it. Throughout this whole thing I feel like you could make a joke about Abe leading a communist revolution, good thing it's not the 40s-50s anymore xD And finally, YES DEAR GOD please give us a new artbook. |

One more thing I forgot to bring up: I don't mind that this is now the official second quintology game, although what does this mean for Munch? MO might not have been that good a game compared to the first two, but the characters and species introduced were pretty cool, and it opened up the world quite a bit. I'm hoping we get to see Munch again one day, maybe even a remake of MO closer to OWI's original dream, and without Microsoft fucking up literally everything. |

Wow, just wow!
So these are Mully and the new glukks. (no more dripikk, aslik or phleg) But we also got a new little mud Mullock https://i.imgur.com/gAff10Sm.png Glukk 1 https://i.imgur.com/F3KDBwdm.png Glukk 2 https://i.imgur.com/b4W86o8m.png Glukk 3 (I really dig these glasses) https://i.imgur.com/VUms1B3m.png Alf's new look https://i.imgur.com/vmlVNO9m.png "Toby" https://i.imgur.com/Fq6TxcRm.png |

i'm having flashbacks. |
I have to say, this whole crafting mechanic has so much potential. I really like the idea of getting a bottle of Soulstorm brew and then finding a lighter that a Slig might have dropped and mixing the two together into a makeshift grenade to take out a chant suppressor or something. This is gonna be something special.

I agree with Nick Ali. Having Abe craft makeshift items sounds fun and interesting. That as well as the ability to arm your fellow mudokons and "set them into different aggressive modes". I'm really very curious to see this work ongame and how you will navigate 301 of those muds across a scape all at once and in one screen.:fuzconf:
Edit:It all sounds so ambitious but awesome =) Not sure if this'll be sidescroller, open world or will be switching between these. All i know for sure is I look forward to seeing some game play in the near future, guys =D E : Then we have something besides our own guesses and speculation to nitpik at... : p.. |
They never said you'll see them all at once.

This is why I find the mechanic worrisome, mostly as I was expecting a 2D puzzle-platformer. So that's almost certainly out of the window haha. Again, not saying this will mean the game is bad, simply stating that it's different to what I was expecting. Reserving judgement until gameplay is shown. |
I love that startup video!
It sets such a great dark tone for the game. The contrast between the happy tune and the awful images is just perfect. Also I think it's great that the characters are getting more personality. Those Glukkons look ridiculously awesome. |

(Or ZX Spectrum) |
Crafting done right can be super satisfying. Like actually seeing an animation of say, Abe taping the two together in quick way, rather than just seeing a progress bar fill up and bam he's plopped out a new item. Done on the fly crafting is a neat way of doing it too. Like for example you come across a rock in the world and the option is there to combine it straight away as well as just to pick it up. It makes the game feel more alive and less menu driven.
The one thing that bothers me though about crafting in some games is that if you find, let's say a lighter, throughout the entire game, you're gonna find that exact same lighter over and over again. I don't know of many games that have that extra variety of crafting. For example, sometimes you may be able to find a box of matches, or boom bat droppings that have embers flickering off them. With some items I can understand like brew, but giving other options is always fun. But all in all, with what we've seen/heard, these mechanics seem to be there now. We might aswell discuss how it can be done to give feedback. Essentially, what I wrote is how I see Abe doing this type of stuff in SoulStorm. |
I just realised something in the trailer, at the begining...are they carrying their own body bags???
