… Not buying something?

Oh. So we have to buy everything! It's good to us!

Crashpunk 12-06-2016 12:42 PM

Meh.

I earn my money. And I'll spend it on whatever I damn like. I don't see how that's a problem.

Varrok 12-06-2016 12:45 PM

You're basically turning a blind eye to how good the new games are gonna be, and if we all follow your example, OWI's gonna create the laziest, worst games they could, because, hey, we'll all buy them anyway.

This forum is the best place ever.

Isn't it though? There's a reason hardly anyone sticks around

Yes but Crashpunk loves NnT.

Manco 12-07-2016 01:16 AM

Buy? pay money?? for? Video games???? absurd

Hey, I'm just saying this purely out of the business perspective, no harm intended. That is what's happening a lot at EA and Ubisoft, for example.

Weren't you the one against buying FEZ just because the creator's a dick?
That's a serious question, I remember there was a topic about that some time ago

I don't. But I'm still going for that blue cover variant.

They are nice collector's items and it also supports the devs.

Exactly.

You don't take into account that if the new games are crap people will eventually stop buying them. Here we're buying games from a company that has a record of making great games and there's no reason to believe they are going to start releasing crap.

Yes but Crashpunk loves NnT.

And he wasn't the only one.

It's like having a preview of what heaven is like.

OWI_Alex 12-07-2016 03:44 AM

Quite. I think it was the 11th best reviewed game of 2015 on PC, which is an amazing achievement and one we're all hugely proud of. We still get new folk contacting us daily about how much they're enjoying New 'n' Tasty.

While I doubt the EA-level of crappiness will ever happen to OWI, that doesn't mean you shouldn't always be cautious about possible quality drop. After all, Munch's Oddysee.

No, I own a copy of Fez and I don’t think Phil Fish is a dick. I do agree that you shouldn’t buy something if you don’t like/agree with its creator, but that doesn’t apply here anyway.

Still, believe it or not, at the time Munch was a pretty OK game:

Call me naive, but I believe some people or companies can actually be trusted.

I never said it wasn't, but I said it's a quality drop from AO/AE.

Beliefs aren't rational.

Xavier 12-07-2016 05:37 AM

I guess what you are trying to say is that you have serious trust issues.

Manco 12-07-2016 06:25 AM

did capitalism hurt you, varrok

Varrok 12-07-2016 06:55 AM

Of course not. Trust is not my issue, for what I trust is evidence. The facts.

Steef-Herder 12-07-2016 07:07 AM

So how bout dem viddyer games, huh

Xavier 12-07-2016 07:12 AM

I'll buy them all... :)

Vlam 12-07-2016 10:08 AM

Varrok fails to understand the pleasure of having something that gathers dust on a shelf.

Varrok 12-07-2016 10:14 AM

Oh, I do. I buy music albums to have a physical copy. The difference is, that I listen to them.

By the way, given the fact that the fanbase has money to burn: why isn't OWI relying on crowdfunding?

Because crowdfunding is good for a few hundred grand, maybe a million or two for a popular dev. Not the multi-million dollar budgets that OWI would need to do a game right.

Yes but it could be a DLC or something. I wasn't thinking of an ambitious project.

Some more info on SW's release from a Limited Run post on NeoGaf;

- 70% will be sold in a bundle with all three sealed cover variants. Again, most of the people who want the variant want all three covers, so this is the cleanest and easiest way to give them that wish.
- 25% will be added to the pool of standard copies and inserted into orders of those - meaning any orders of a standard copy could end up being the blue variant. If you get the blue cover and don't want it, we'll gladly accept the return and swap it for the regular cover.
- 5% will be sold in charity auctions on eBay.

The charity auction ones will likely sell for "market value" whatever that is, but your money will be going to charity, not a reseller.

If you miss out, see below.

Hopefully this means that nearly everyone should have no reason to be upset at this point.

Steef-Herder 12-07-2016 11:41 AM

I think that post probably confuses things a bit more, so it should prolly be stated that there are really only two variants - the Blue PSX cover, and the regular edition which features a reversible cover inc. both designs previewed in my first post. The reason they're selling a three-pack is probably for the collectors that don't want to remove the plastic to reverse the cover.

Also; the poker card set and foldout map are not contained in the game case but are shipped with the orders, so everyone should get them regardless of the edition they buy.

Xavier 12-07-2016 12:32 PM

Thanks for sharing :D

I'm going for the bundle with all three sealed cover variants. I hope this means it will include 2 sets of cards and 2 maps, kind of was hoping to keep one of each sealed.
