happy having either a physical or spiritual vagina of some kind day

Vexen 03-09-2016 07:36 PM

Your gender is assigned at birth. You are either male or female. Assigning a gender based on someone's behavior is absolutely fucking ridiculous. You cannot say, "I act like a woman, therefore I am one". It's just not true, because biologically you have a set of sexual organs that define your gender.

Slog Bait 03-09-2016 07:54 PM

See? Vexen isn't aware intersex people exist.

"70% male and 30% female" definitely don't exist, for a start. You're either a man or a woman, but call yourself whatever you want you weird attention/asylum seeker.

Great now you're just saying people are invalid.

This whole thread makes me want to goddamn kill myself.

Nepsotic 03-09-2016 08:08 PM

Best strawman ever.

How am I saying people are invalid? I said it's fucking dumb. Sure, genuine trans people are mentally, not their physical gender. Saying "I'm 30% woman cuz i likes tha cleanin" is fucking retarded and a pathetic cry for attention. I don't care if people do it, but that is what it is.

Stop making emotion-based arguments because you basically said nothing there.

Your sex is assigned at birth, not your gender, but thanks for letting us all know from the outset how ignorant on the subject you are so we know how little attention to give whatever points you try to make. Ignoring the fact that intersex people exist and pretty verifiably do not fit into this no-exceptions sex and gender binary that you will no doubt mindlessly defend without ever wondering why you're so convinced it exists, gender doesn't refer to physical sex, assigned at birth or otherwise. So they align for you. Cool. Try to get your head around the fact that not everyone's experience of themselves is the same as yours.

Nepsotic 03-09-2016 08:52 PM

That post was horrendous.

enchilado 03-09-2016 09:00 PM

Yeah, I know. I gave up trying to organise my thoughts coherently but Vexen's post annoyed me too much for me to not post it anyway.

Since when are the words sex and gender different? I thought they were used interchangeably?

Look, you can act like a woman or male if you want, I'm okay with it. But to require that you be treated like that gender, when you clearly aren't part of it is absolute bullshit. I treat people based on their personality, I do not care about their gender. We should just ignore gender, and treat people equally. When I talk about gender, let me make it clear, I am referring to their biological sex, I apologize for any confusion.

Nepsotic 03-09-2016 09:51 PM

Actually trans peoples' brains are actually structured as the brain of their gender, not their sex.

Xorlidyr 03-09-2016 10:09 PM

I look and behave non-binarily. People perceive me as "different", "queer", "weird", "too radiant". I am already recognized in the society, perceived not as a male.

This thread went the offtopic road too far. Yet we could rename it to "Gender diversity", as most users wish to discuss this topic more.

Nepsotic 03-09-2016 10:15 PM

You're right, Gishy. Gender itself is a social construct regardless of how much people might make fun of that. I'm sick of ignorant people not making the effort to educate themselves.
Be as radiant as you want, Gishy.

FrustratedAssassin 03-09-2016 10:38 PM

There's a difference between "gender is a social construct", which is mainly used by transphobic TERFs and stating that yes, you can be non-binary because gender is pretty much a spectrum, like sexuality.

No, we don't know why yet, because it basn't been studied enough yet, but people don't just claim to be trans for attention.

You deny existence of such people? They do exist. Like Chris Chan. Or this dude.

Actually, scientists know so little about brains, that they can't even differentiate between male and female brains, not to mention brains of transgender people.

They do, very unfortunately. I think FA's point though is that not all transgender people are just people wanting attention.

Varrok 03-10-2016 12:55 AM

I forgot to mention Bruce Jenner, who changed gender identity just as he killed a woman and feared facing serious jail time.

Idk about her, it seems like she really does feel she's a woman, but she plays it off for attention and is a really shitty personn I mean seriously who in the world is so awfule And who is so onesided that they require everyone to be understanding of them but refuse to be understanding of anyone else or show anyone else respectp

Who put you in charge of deciding whether or not people are legitimately trans?

Varrok 03-10-2016 01:14 AM

Nobody. I'm just good at keeping up with the chronological order

Not true. They can differentiate, but there’s a spectrum.

Every brain differentiates from the other. Also, this.

:

"Our study demonstrates that, although there are sex/gender differences in the brain, human brains do not belong to one of two distinct categories: male brain/female brain," they wrote.

:

On average, there are likely to be some areas that are more strongly feminized in a female and others that are more strongly masculinized in a male, but averages are never predictive of an individual’s profile. Moreover, a mosaic is not a blend—there is not a continuum of maleness to femaleness—and there are many parameters that are neutral in regard to sex, with no consistent differences between males and females.

Varrok 03-10-2016 12:05 PM

I may have phrased it poorly. When I said "they can't even differentiate between male and female brains" what I meant was really "they can't absolutely surely tell male or female based purely of brain activity"

Manco 03-10-2016 12:16 PM

Sure, but they can make reasonable assumptions.

Varrok 03-10-2016 12:30 PM

Okay, but I don't think it's reasonable enough to make it a rule (based on inability to detect gender of people examined), and that denies Nepsotic's statement:

:

()
Actually trans peoples' brains are actually structured as the brain of their gender, not their sex.

as there is not a known rule of how male/female brain is structured.
