NnT is great. Also, the meat saws are fine, it shouldnt take you more than 2 tries to adjust for your roll speed's startup time.
You probably wont like it just cuz ur a big fan of the original. As a guy who thought the original was 'OK', NnT is great. |
The animations weren't as 'natural' as in the original but you can tell they have tried at least. They could have been way worse. I didn't like the increased amount of goofiness from Abe and the overall change in tone in the game as well as in the cutscenes, including visuals as well as mudokon workers casual comments. Looking at the cutscenes, the animation quality in general was kind of lacking in comparison to the original game.
I really hated the ragdoll physics, in my opinion they always look cheap in comparison to proper death animations. They make your game look cheap. Unless you're Rockstar and have access to the Euphoria engine, these should be avoided in any case. The absence of the grid-based movement is a huge drawback as well and ruins a lot of timing based platforming such as the meat grinders. But even with these points, this is complaining on a high level. It's still better than most of the "remakes" out there. |
It certainly looks better than awful-looking The Secret of Monkey Island remake/remaster, which on the other hand had 1:1 same mechanics as the original game

Fischkopf, "(...) you can say they have tried at least", that's cruel.
Based on previous posts, the cons outweigh the pros. |
You're forgetting that it's completely subjective, and for some people the pros outweigh the cons. Like for me. And Shade. And Crashpunk.
|
Rockstar didn't really unleash the Euphoria engine power in GTAV. Furthermore, it's been downgraded since GTAIV, examples here
|
FA, Crashpunk mentioned "big problems" and Shade the speedrunner is the one who thought the original was 'OK' (which means he didn't care about AO to begin with).
|
Crashpunk also said "Apart from that, I recommend it.", which means that for him the pros outweigh the cons.
|
Yes, but he isn't convincing, it felt forced. Also, I was talking generally based on the arguments. Read Scrabaniac's post. He IS objective.

You're such likers, guys, lol
|
Crashpunk enjoyed the idea more than the game itself. I remember that, before the release of the game, he attended the event (in the UK) where you could see Lanning, JAW's employees and Wil.
|
Yes that is such a good argument I'm sure he hates the game in fact let me ask him right now

Scrabaniac says the cons outweigh the pros. And yes, it is possible to be objective in a review if it's base on facts.
If I say "it's a masterpiece" and "the controls are perfect", would you really agree with me ? |
If it was an objective review, he wouldn't have said that he recommends it even though the cons outnumber the pros.

It's two separate things, FA. It's the only Oddworld game since SW, and if to you "the end justifies the means" then you should buy this game.
|
But Scrabaniac said and Crashpunk one time did oh my god get their dicks out of your mouth and fuck off to whatever foreign trash euro shit continent you crawled out of
|
OANST, you're the one posting photos of your child on a public forum... So don't try to lecture me.

also Vlam. shut the fuck up. |
Yeah, vlam. You are kind of forcing them to agree that they think NnT is bad. They didn't say that. CP liked NnT. Scrabaniac said he recommends it, so he definitely doesn't consider it trash.
Whether NnT actually is bad or we can found out does not matter. And whether there's more cons than pros doesn't matter either, as some aspects matter more than others. |
Wow. Really?
Yes I attended an event to see Lanning and JAW. Yes I was a tester for the PC Version. And in no way has that influenced my opinion about the game. All of those experiences have been humbling, and I feel honoured to be apart of them. That is all. They weren't a way for them to sway my thoughts. They were just being nice and giving back to the fans. Also I wanna mention I wasn't the only person on this forum who attended the event and tested the game. Do they sound overly positive? No they don't. Why is it always me getting pointed out? I guess having a positive attitude this day and age makes you untrustworthy... For the record. I love NnT. But it has some problems and it's certainly not as good as the original. But it's a solid remake and I think is a perfect example of a remake done right. |
Haha, sure, CP. How much are they paying you?
|
They gave him that big abe cardboard cutout from the photo
|
Varrok, if anything goes then why don't you read that "it's a masterpiece" or "the gameplay is almost perfect" ?
|
Because it isn't a masterpiece and nobody said it is.
I don't consider a remake good if it's worse than original. For me that's the point of remakes, to replace the original. NnT fails to replace the original, and we can agree to that. But others don't think like me. They enjoy NnT nonetheless. And, because they enjoyed it, they recommend it and say it's fun. That's it. |
