Wow I guess it was haha. I didn't even notice.
I pretty much meant what you said. It's a nice novelty. |
Vinyls are differently EQed than CDs because of how they're made. That's the only reason they sound a bit different.
What? That's not true. The same master is printed onto both CDs and vinyl. The reason they sound different is because one is analogue and one is digital.
I mean this.
Yeah, that's true. For good reason, too.
However, it's such a subtle EQ that it's barely noticeable to the average listener. The reason you think it sounds different is because of the way songs were recorded back then, not just the fact that you're playing it back through vinyl. |
Nope, I've got an ear for sound quality. I'm not exactly an audiophile, but still more demanding than an average listener
Yes, but I'm telling you, songs recorded back when vinyl was popular have a very clear treble roll off. That's in the recording.
I listened to the same recording on CD and on Vinyl and I could tell the difference.
Good for you (y)
Fun fact: new vinyl releases have exactly zero difference in quality from other media because they’re all made from the same digital recording.
Fun fact: most of us are only going to listen to the MP3 files anyway.
Fun Fact: I will be listening to the vinyl.
Fun fact : the majority will download it illegally.
Oh yes, that common phenomena of illegally downloading vinyls
The content, obviously : don't try to be smarter than you are.

I think Varrok got you good, vlam. and I hate him so having me say something good about him is a phenomenon |
Well, I don't hate him ; am I less bias than you ? I was talking about the content.
:
Nah vlam mate. You got rekt. Sorry bro. |
Even if people are gonna pirate the mp3 ost, the cost of making mp3 ost from an existing game is basically 0, so each copy bought is profit.
:
Oh. I bet it will break even soon, still.
:
People who are thought to pirate it in lossy mp3 format will probably rip it from the NnT game instead, if they haven't already

Exactly, with very few exceptions, like re-releases of stuff recorded with analog means instead of digital instruments, which even though I like most of the series' soundtracks in general, wouldn't really use the vinyl that much, it would sound pretty much like playing the digital version of the track.
Unless they somehow miraculously captured all of that ambience with analog equipment. |
I think we need to go back to Manco's point again. The audio for the vinyl will not be any different from the regular digital stuff, except for some degradation of quality, because the tracks were digital before analog.
That being said I am still 100% in support of this vinyl and will be purchasing it. |
I will be getting the vinyl. But common - No Flac?? MP3 & vinyl are both lossy (Vinyl is pressed from lossless sure, but 'lovely retro clicks and pops' aren't exactly lossless).
Sure, I've ripped from the game, and in it are tonnes of great high quality loops - I would've preferred a more 'cut down' official version in lossless though. |

It's not a huge investment in money which will more likely brake even without too much trouble. Additionally it brings more exposure to OWI which is always a good thing. Also the potential argument that OWI should be focusing on the Exoddus remake instead would be absolutely ridiculous as Michael Bross isn't going to work on it yet anyway if they are still in the planning stages. So I'd say the money is well invested. |
As much as I'd love to buy this (but I can't since I live in Romania), I'd rather have the option to get just the MP3s, without the vinyl or the poster.
Pretty sure you have that option.
