Come on, people. Regardless of what you think of his idea, at least stay civil to MeechCrunchies.

I drew a little Abe face on the side of my pen.

OANST 07-11-2014 06:29 AM

You were supposed to use the pen to draw an Abe face on stationary.

God, you're fucking stupid.

Nice idea, but you've got to work on it more before setting it up. The video must be the last thing you do for any Kickstarter.

Agreed entirely. I had a client recently who wanted me to make an animation for his Kickstarter pitch video for a new business. The problem is, he'd done nothing whatsoever- no idea, no logo, no script. His key messages were copied and pasted from other people's pitches. Soon enough, he was asking me to do everything. He then told me to hold fire because it turned out he didn't even have access to the premises. Suffice it to say, he's never gotten back to me.

I've been part of a successful Kickstarter pitch before for a studio where I work, and can tell you that organising, let alone running a successful project, is not a one man job.

There's a hell of a lot more to it that you would think- perhaps most importantly of all, you have to consider rewards to give out to your backers, and the logistics of this can be a time consuming nightmare.

To echo what others have said, it's a very nice sentiment, albeit seems an impractical one. As Nate said, Kickstarter doesn't allow charity, or anything where something original isn't created.

In the nicest way possible I'm going to say that this is... one of the... most curious and impracticable ideas... I've seen in... a while. But... points for... trying to... help?

There, I think I did pretty good for my standards.

Reading all of this.. I think it would be more practical raising money to promote Oddworld on TV. Bring an Indie game right to where the AAA games are. I would be up for donating a bit to see an Oddworld Commercial that will potentially bring in a much larger audience, as well as introduce it to a new generation.

I'd get on board with this.

Hope you have millions of friends!

According to FB I have about 330, is that enough?

Varrok 07-14-2014 08:12 AM

As far as I know 330 is less than milion.

Job McYossie 07-14-2014 10:04 AM

Are you sure? It could be, if it believed in itself enough.

Pirfsich 07-15-2014 06:30 AM

No, it's 297 away from a million.

Xavier 07-15-2014 06:33 AM

Can we stop those calculation aberrations now?

MeechMunchie 07-15-2014 02:41 PM

I prefer "abalculations".
