If there's one thing I know, it's that preorder content is never good. Never. It always feels like a cashgrab with no much effort included.

It just feels... wrong.

I'm probably bringing up an extremely controversial topic here, but are we getting the same pre-order content when we pre-order it for Steam (if and when that becomes an option)?

Or would this anger the all powerful Playstation gods? :|

Thing is, I guess pre-orders exist so OWI/JAW can already have an idea of how many copies are already "secured" at this stage. The pre-order deals are made to offer additional value to the customer so that he wants to order it now and not a few days after release. The only thing I'd like however is to allow the customer to purchase the additional content on the side via DLC if he missed the pre-order, even if it means having to wait a few weeks. There are some games I did not buy because I missed the pre-order bonus and felt I would never be able to enjoy the "full" experience.

OWI/JAW claim to be platform agnostic, so I think it's a safe bet to say this kind of pre-order deal, or at least the content, is going to be available on all platforms.

OK, some clarification on a few things just now:

1. The additional, entirely optional Alf mission will be available post-release, free of charge to everyone that pre-orders, and at a small charge to everyone else that wants it down the line. Further details on what the Alf mission is to follow.

2. The same pre-order offers are likely to be offered to all platforms, yes, even if not as part of a pre-order. We'll be offering both the Alf mission and the costume regardless of platform.

3. The DLC will carry across all PlayStation platforms.

4. It's currently one additional costume, not plural. Details to follow.

5. We're working as hard as possible to try to replicate a similar offer outside of the US.

6. We don't currently know when the pre-load will occur.

7. The pre-order price also covers for Cross Buy when the PS3 and VITA versions are released.

If I pre-order this without a PS4, can I download it directly to my PS3 when it eventually comes out for PS3?, or is this exclusively a PS4 pre-order?

Hopefully Alf won't have the ability to possess like Abe, so it will be kinda difficult :) I think this extra content is a fantastic idea, especially as Alf has become a really well known character that has never actually been playable before. It does however feel strange to have him try and escape rupturefarms without Abe's help.. He must have escaped before Abe's story, as he would have been the 100th Mudokon.

Those are valid points. Plus he shouldn't save Mudokons, otherwise it would be silly to have Abe being the big hero but not Alf. I guess for Alf to make it out alive on it's own is already quite an achievement.

I wasn't happy with Outfit pre-order bonus, but actual gameplay addition, Alf mission... That would really make me pre-order it if I had PS4. I really hope it's going to be pre-order bonus on Steam too.

But seriously, I highly doubt they won't carry the same offer to the other consoles. If they made some extra content for oddworld, they'd want to make sure all fans can get their greasy mits on them.

Plus, I think this is an experiment for JAW/OI to see how dlc and pre order bonuses work. Just like Xavier said, to see how many people will secure a copy. Market research Etc.

I don't care what happens, I just want oddworld in my future lol.

Well, yeah. i mean jaw-alex confirmed it... and said we'd get more details later this week. (even though i was referring to the PS4 pre-orders in the UK & EU, not other platforms)

And since the website reverted to its original state, and no longer advertises the ability to pre-order, and Oddworld hasn't announced any of this on Twitter i'm getting the impression that this pre-order stuff was accidentally announced a few days too early.

Like I said, we're working as hard as we can to ensure everyone gets the chance to grab the pre-order content but with stuff like this, things can change at (literally) the last minute.

We just want details nailed down and solidified first.

I can understand where Havoc and some others are coming from, but we just gotta be appreciative that our concerns have been noted throughout the development for like 2 years or so. I dont think they are going to start ignoring us now.

Anyways, I think we're in good hands guys :) and if anyone is legitimately butt hurt, i'll happily buy codes for others so we can all check it out together. I cant wait to start seeing new threads being erected about the awesome feels, experiences and hidden things in the game.

Im willing to pre order to the game to get the extras for free but there is no fucking way I am going to pay for them after paying for the game just because I live outside the USA. Im surprised that region ever matters here, i would have thought that given Im buying it for the PS4 that the offer would be available worldwide.
