This is awesome.
I really like your impression of the right hand side of the factory, with the stockyards and such. Looks badass. Keep it up :) Oz :fuzzle: |

Its been a little while. I took a couple months off but now I'm back at it. of course all still WIP and unfinished. Basically all thats new since the previous pics is all the detail on the scaffolding under the sign. |
The detail blows me away every-time I see this.
|
Still better than JAW's effort.
|
I'd love to know how you knew where all the pipes etc should go when you can't really see this in the original painting?
|
In the oddworld art book theres a pretty highly detailed 2 page spread of the whole artwork I mostly go off that for the tiny details. When I cant tell what stuff is even from that I just guess what it might be and where it goes.

This project is still alive! Ive gotten back into it recently and have a lot of progress which Ill show soon. To tide you all over, was watching the deer hunter last night and noticed some familiar architecture.
Pretty sure OWI used this steel mill as reference and used photos of the place for all the buildings in the background http://www.steel-photo.org/wp-conten...02/mingo1g.jpg http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-ge...o-Junction.jpg http://eofp.net/place_images3/mingojunction7l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cDo7tzq.jpg http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...l/DSC06128.jpg http://s649.photobucket.com/user/bet...a/Dsc00910.jpg |
Lookin forward to it. I remember your model from years back :)
|
A lil update for you.
http://i.imgur.com/aBmp6tA.jpg Still so far from completion, all the stuff on the right is just a mock up not final, and all the lights and effects are severely dumbed down because i havent updated my computer since 2007. more to come soon. |
^ but the sign on the right looks amazing! Look forward to seeing more updates
|
The update looks amazing, you put so much effort and detail into this map, and I can't wait for the final version!!
|
The fun will really start when i get more of the background details done and can start getting sweet wallpapers of the factory from different angles. Idk when i was young i was really impressed by the opening shot of AO and loved the enormity of the factory. Its alot of fun to rebuild it and then imagine what wasnt shown.

When three years pass, yet OP still delivers!
Look nearly identical to the original, it could easily fool me. Very nice job man, I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished one. |
Absolutely remarkable. If I have to wait another three years for an update, it'll be worth it.
|
Holy shit that looks good.
Honestly could pass for official artwork. |
This is true fan dedication. This is just amazing.
I can't even tell the difference from the original. Everything is exactly as I remember. This is the real rupture farms, not the bullshit futuristic crap from nnt. |
update coming soon! to tide you over
http://imgur.com/a/SycCO This is what I see from my view. Ive finished alot of the minor details now im getting to messing around with the stockyards to see what sort of atmosphere I can create from scratch there. Will make some cool 4k wallpapers when all is said and done. |
Wow, that's awesome. It just looks like the original.
|
A different view of the little town thats slowly coming together. Im going to build some bridges and roads and stuff that make sense after Ive got a few more small details done.

Wow.
You'd never see it from such perspective in NnT. |
So much wow
|
The latest update :) the lighting and the whole of the right side is a mock up and the whole thing is of course WIP. Its getting pretty close now though.

That's... That's gorgeous.
I'm loving it |
From left to center-right, it's fantastic. The far right side could do with some adjustments, here and there, but as far as recreating the original, it's damn near perfect.
|
I absolutely love your work. This is fantastic.
Although, the right side of the latest update has sparked some confusion for me. In AO when you leave Rupture Farms and head to the Stockyards you are travelling left with the glowing glukkon heads facing you in the background. In this art however, the path is heading to the right with the heads still facing you. So I came up with three possibilities; 1) The heads are the same on both sides so it looks like a glukkon from either side. 2) The design from the game mean that the path should travel directly away from the back of Rupture Farms, not to the right. 3) The game and artwork contradict each other. What do you reckon? Looking at screens from the game, I think number 1 would be the best explanation, as then this art would fit in perfectly. |
Whichever you want to believe :) all are reasonable.

In the words of our Lord and Savior Crash Bandicoot - "Whoa".
Truly impressive stuff here, good job! |
