Mass Effect 3 was panned for its ending, not for announcing a bunch of games and then not following through.

There is nothing really wrong with things changing in development, or not being able to live up to hype. The problem is when a developer talks talks talks and then can't really back it up, as OWI did back in the day. They announced 10 games at the same time as Abe's Oddysee (Quintology and a bonus game for each main game), then Hand Of Odd, Sligstorm, Faerytales, Habitales, Munch's Exoddus, Fangus...

I'd say that they promised, spoke of or announced around 15 games before Munch's Oddysee was released. There's being over ambitious and then there is living in fantasy.
