It's far more consistent than the iOS interface, load more.

You can't pit Android against iOS, really. There are so many different Android phones to choose from, and there's only one iPhone, which, they keep releasing under a new label.

Correction: there’s thousands of different Android phones, most of which are low-end hardware, most of which have the carrier or hardware manufacturer’s own custom skin on them, and the small collection of high-end phones cost a bomb.

Versus one phone with one OS, which regularly gets minor revisions to its hardware specs and OS.

One of these is a consistent user experience.

:

Although, I always find Android to be faster, and a lot more convenient. For example, Apple are very clever, your battery dies on an iPhone, you have to go directly to Apple to get it sorted, and most likely pay an absolute bomb. With Android, all you need is something off Ebay.

You ... do know that Apple is widely considered to have the best customer service in the industry? If your Apple product breaks they will fix it or replace it, often free if it’s due to a fault.

:

()
Also, Android OS offers so much more freedom than iOS, meaning you can easily root it, add non-market apps just by ticking a box in the settings, and do so much more. Even able Flash Player on low-end Android phones that don't appear to support it.

My philosophy is if you need to root your phone to get what you want done with it then there may be a problem. Rooting and customising and taking apart are all fine if you know how to do that, but most folks – they don‘t know how to do that.

also you think having flash player is a positive aspect, lol

And the Android interface is just so much nicer than iOS's and easier to use.

You proved my point with those screenshots. And no, you don't have to root your phone to do what you want, it just allows more customisation.
Those screenshots are from different versions of Android, of course they're going to be different, and that's a good thing.
Flash is the most widely used video format thing used across the web, so regardless of it's quality, having it is a good thing.

Well, I won an iPad, that's why I'm asking this. I never had anything from Apple, so I'm completely new to iOS.

You won an iPad? Lucky you! im guessing you haven't got it yet..

I already did, but forgot about this thread.

So, after almost a week with it, I have to say that I like it. I still prefer Android and it's "open platform" mojo, but the iPad is nice. I am going to keep it since a Galaxy Note 10.1 is more expensive than this version and the App Store has some apps, for free, for Engineering and class management, so I'm okay with that. I will eventually jailbreak it, so there should be even more apps for Engineering. I'm actually happy with it. But the lack of the BACK button was confusing initially, since I always used Android and every other cellphone with it. There's only one thing that I really hate about it. A device this expensive and the camera fucking sucks. Well, both of them. They simply aren't good.

Mr. Bungle 11-01-2012 12:50 PM

If I had an iPad it'd probably just end up sitting on a shelf, gathering dust.

Or I'd turn it into money.

But I just plain don't get tablets, so yeah. I might get an Android tablets if they have the same capabilities and customization as an Android phone. We'll see.

I like to have one for classes, presentations and other school stuff, so they are a nice complement to me. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't care much for them, most of them are simply bigger phones, just a dozen of ones really taking advantage of the tablet design and it's features.

Yeah, at the expense of stability, warranty, and having to do a bunch of weird shit to your phone.

No, it isn’t! It makes for an unpredictable, uneven, schizophrenic ecosystem where two people could conceivably get lost and confused in two different instances of the same OS.

Never mind the fact that hardly any manufacturers keep the stock version of Android, never mind the fact that huge swathes of the ecosystem never receive software updates or are severely lagging behind version numbers.

Flash is the most widely used video format thing used across the web, so regardless of it's quality, having it is a good thing.

Flash is a bloated, dying platform which kills battery life and is fast being replaced by native apps and HTML5.

OS fight! Which bitch will scratch their itch?!

Mr. Bungle 11-01-2012 01:20 PM

I'm just gonna say Android OS > iOS. Always.

OANST 11-01-2012 02:05 PM

The green one does look better.

AvengingGibbons 11-01-2012 04:45 PM

The only reason I'm chipping in here is because people are saying negative things about iOS that just aren't true. If you're going to argue that the operating system you prefer is better, use valid arguments!

I'm not against android. I'm not crazy in love with iOS. I'm just attracted to nice things, and Apple does nice things. Anyone who says android is simpler to use than iOS doesn't really know what they're on about. You can't beat iOS's ease-of-use.

I'm actually hoping Windows Phone 8 takes off well. It'd be nice to see it develop more as future updates are brought out. I've had a windows phone 7 device since April.

Nepsotic 11-01-2012 05:55 PM

Windows 8 OS looks like shit, although I can't criticise the OS itself, I haven't used it.

Android is better than iOS. People don't think that though, because of the brainwashed cunts who always jump on the latest bandwagon.

Fuck BlackBerry.

How about this? I much prefer Android to iOS. And I am right, it is better
Good 'nough?

Steamer_KING 11-01-2012 06:09 PM

Windows 8 as a desktop, fucking sucks. As a tablet OS, is really good. Let's see what the future brings.

Phylum 11-01-2012 11:30 PM

Win8 looks like the best tablet OS to me by a long way. It feels like a cut down desktop rather than a beefed up phone.

Other than that, everything Manco said and nothing Nep said.

http://www.globalnerdy.com/wordpress...d-and-shit.jpg

I saw footage from Windows 8 and I don't like the user interface. Better to stick with Windows 7 for now, I only upgraded from XP to 7 in April.

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2012 05:28 AM

I've noticed that pattern as well. You'd think Microsoft would realize it, and stop making shit OS' every time they make a good one.

Anyways, I haven't seen anything concerning Windows 8, but it's gotten so much bad press that I think I'll be avoiding it for a while.

Wings of Fire 11-02-2012 05:37 AM

Vista wasn't shit though.

Seriously. It wasn't.

Also, 95, shit? In comparison to what exactly?

Vista wasn't shit though.

It wasn't shit, but it could have been better. Honestly, I don't really get the Vista-hate either.

But in general Microsoft seems to have followed this pattern and done a pretty good job of it.

Varrok 11-02-2012 06:27 AM

What was so bad about WinME? It didn't bring anything specially new*, but I don't remember having any problems with it

*except that AWESOME FEATURE to set a custom background for selected folders!

Takeshi 11-02-2012 06:30 AM

Woah man! where did you win it from, I would love an iPad.

You may not like it, but the internet runs on Flash. Until HTML5 is both standardised and supported well by browsers, it's much better to have Flash than not.

That's rubbish. Anyone who tells you that you need to root an Android phone is talking through their arse. The only people I know who have rooted their phones are either developers or people who really, really don't like bloatware.

Here's where Android's customisation is important: You don't like the default browser? Fine, there are 6 great browsers available for free in the Play Store and a fair few more of varying quality with novel UIs. You don't like the keyboard? Try Swiftkey, Swype or any of the others. You don't like the email app, the message app, the calendar app, any of the widgets... just install something new. Android gives options. iOS doesn't.

Nepsotic 11-02-2012 07:15 AM

And the only reason that iOS doesn't is because Apple are money grabbing scumbags, but we already know that. And they have a stick up their arse about Samsung Galaxy.

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2012 07:21 AM

I think it's more Apple trying to be "unique" and "innovative" than anything. I don't see what not supporting Flash has to do with being money-grabbing.

Though they are money-grabbing

Steamer_KING 11-02-2012 11:51 AM

Seriously though, I don't understand either why not support Flash and/or HTML5. I think Apple got bashed so badly, that they now support flash.

My first computer had Windows ME, and I only upgraded to XP in late Summer of 2007. It was awesome the highly-costumizable themes, but a big problem of the OS was the constant BSODs and overall instability. The crashes were so frequent that I almost needed to do an OS reinstall almost every 6 months. Since I started using XP (now the 7) I wouldn't hold a system crash anymore.

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2012 12:08 PM

How could you use an OS that crashes every 6 months for 7 years(assuming)? I would have lost my patience and switched to XP as soon as I could.
